Why cant I set a wallpaper to menu screen?

Itunes says I have the newest available software(4.2.1) for my iPod touch,
but I cant set a wallpaper to home screen, or view open apps, or activate "negative" color view.
What is this? I have deleted all data on my iPod, and reinstalled software, but its still the same problem...

I do not believe that. The 2G and 3G iPod look identical on the outside.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.

Set desktop wallpaper based on screen resolution for both WinXP and Win7

I'm hoping someone can answer this for me. I would like to be able to set the desktop wallpaper based on the current screen resolution when a user logs in. I've made several .BMP files for varying resolutions with our corporation logo. But, say
if a wallpaper for a resolution of 1024x768 on a 4:3 monitor is set, then that monitor is replaced with a 16:10 monitor with a resolution of 1280x800 or 1600x900, the wallpaper looks stretched out and ugly. The only way to change it is manually on
each computer, but most end users (students) would not have permissions to do so.
I thought this question would have been asked before, but after many, many searches, I've only come across one reference that copies the background from a network share to a location on the local computer, which I found
here. In my case, the file will already be on the local computer, but I am not sure how to force the system to change the wallpaper based on the current screen resolution. I'm sure it is possible and maybe I am overlooking something very simple. I
was also thinking that this would either happen only once on first login or maybe based on user authentication (which group the user belongs to) so that teachers are still able to change their wallpaper, but students would not be able to.
If it helps, I will be deploying the image using MDT 2010 Update 1. The same base image will be used on multiple machine types (HP desktop sand laptops and Lenovo desktops) which could have one of 6-7 different monitor types connected. I'd also like
this to happen on the local machine instead of GPO or logon script as there is already a lot happening there.
I would need to be able to do this for both Windows XP Pro and Windows 7 Ent x64. The XP machines will mostly have 4:3 monitors, but there are exceptions.
Maybe what I am asking isn't entirely possible or possible at all. I, unfortunately, am in the extremely early stages of learning Microsoft Scripting (VBScript and PowerShell) to use with MDT 2010, so I know next to nothing when it comes to these scripting

I almost abandoned this because I thought it was going to interfere with using BGInfo. But, as it turns out, I was able to incorporate the running of BGInfo into a script that I
created. And, once I saw what 16:10 Aspect Ratio background looked like on a 16:9 Aspect Ratio screen, I was not satisfied.
I happened to use the first script that MkShffr posted from geekshangout.com, but then I added more items to it. I also created three high-res wallpaper backgrounds as suggested
by pagerwho.
My script is based on the Aspect Ratio of the current resolution. Since most, if not all, systems will get the resolution set during deployment, this was easy to calculate.
And by forcing the output of the Aspect Ratio to two decimal places, I just used a Case statement to select which aspect ratio to choose from and apply the wallpaper assigned to it. I thought about using If Then statements, but I think the Case statement
is much cleaner.
And, because BGInfo wants to change the Picture Position to "Tile" instead of "Fit" that I manually set it to in my image, I added two reg key change lines per Case. BGInfo still
changes the Picture Position to "Tile", but for whatever reason, this works. I tested this by using a laptop with a 16:9 Aspect Ratio screen. In my image, I manually set a 16:10 wallpaper because that will be the primary Aspect Ratio used in our corporation,
however we are getting more 16:9 Aspect Ratio laptops and from what HP is saying, everything will be standardizing on this Aspect Ratio.
I made sure the Screen profile that I saved in my image was loaded which includes the 16:10 wallpaper. I then placed this script in the “C:\ProgramData\Wallpaper_Change”
directory that I created in the image. I then added a registry value in HKLM\System\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and created a String Value. I did this so that it would run at log in, but I didn't want it to show in the Startup Folder in the All Programs
Menu. It takes less than a second to run, but it seems to work well. I tested it several time to see if there were any anomalies, but it seemed to work great each time. I have yet to test it with a computer that is on the domain with a regular user account,
which I will be doing in the next day or two.
In the mean time, if someone want to try it out and see if it works from thier use, here is the code. I did comment out the wscript.echos, but left them in to use for troubleshooting
in the future.

In System Preferences, and CDs &DVDs, I've set the drop-down menu for audio CDs to open iTunes. can anyone tell me why it always reverts to Ignore?

Can anyone help me figure out why the setting in System Preferences and CDs & DVDs will always revert to Ignore when I set the drop-down menu to When you insert a music CD, to Open ITunes? I've tried iTunes Help and it told me exactly what I have been doing. I've even tried downloading iTunes again, to no avail. If anyone has had the same problem, please let me know. I would very much appreciate it.

I just updated to iOS 7. When I try to set my wallpaper with a photo of mine, the entire Photos app freezes and I have to close out. Any idea why this is happening?

You cannot update to iOS 5, it's no longer an available. You can only update to the latsest available iOS for your device. For the iPhone 4 that's iOS 6.0.1. The option you are looking for to update over-the-air requires iOS 5 or later. With iOS 4 you need to use iTunes on a Mac or PC to update the iOS. Follow the instructions on the Support Page you linked from.

i tried to re download a purchased audio book after i contacted apple support team for iTunes they said it would be ready for re download or they said id have to re download it from iTunes store i cant remember, so i tried both couldn't re download it from purchased menu and the book id have to re download from iTunes store costs money as if i have never purchased what do i do? I don't have any warranty any more or money to purchase another warranty.

I have bought 1 MacbookPor 17, 1 Macbook air, 1 MacbookPro 15 , 2 ipads, 3 iphones, and this iMac27 and 2 of iMAC24 or 20 not sure   but I do not recall ever doing what you are telling me in your reply.   When you get a extended car warranty, you don't   sign up for it.. it is just there and is included in the sale.   You don't buy this warranty to use it.. You buy it, in case something happens.   Here a perfect iMAC with minimum 100 hour useage has a dead drive. That is not normal and I should not have to even be requesting anything since most MFG offer a 3-5 year warranty on their disc drives and I believe that is probably passed on to Apple regardless if an extended warranty is purchased or not.   Customer service dictates a more flexible approach to make sure the lifetime value of a customer is not lost due to some misunderstanding.
I was in the MacStore that I purchased the unit..and they found and pulled the invoice and confirmed
the purchase of it in front of me. I had paid with credit card and fortunately it was there in their system.   I do not also recall recieving any box or paper although most everything I ever get remains sealed.. I am not in the habit of opening anything since I have never encountered any serious issues before.
   I have used my Macbookpro warranty 1 time and that is all throughout the years I have been investing in Apple equipment.
I just recieved a letter from the store asking me to get the paper to them so they can register it... I don't recall getting any paper actually. But I do have several boxes sealed here.. On this iMAC27, it was a hurry up and get it done thing and I don't remember taking anything extra with it.   Regardless, my request does not seem unreasonable.

i have contacted 3 online and also been into a 3 store they tried mysim in their handset and it worked but when on of the workers tried theyre sim it said "no service" as usual? they said the phone reads the sim because it asked for the workers sim code?

How I solved this.
Log into itunes on your compter
Click on Apps under Library in left menu bar
Click 'Check for Updates' botton right on iMac
New 'Terms and Conditions' notification appears with accept button
Click 'Accept' and your all set.
BTW I had my iphone connect during this procedure.

my boyfriend has the original droid and can send up to 1min long videos thru text. i have the droid 2 and cant send videos in any format thru text. and i can only send certain ones to emails. so why cant i send them by text? and they are short videos. less than 30 secs.

Automatically create a custom VPN connection and set default wallpaper in a deployment...

Hey guys,
I've been hard at work on creating a custom deployment for our company to allow us to start rolling out Windows 7 at the first of next month. I demonstrated it to the brass today and they were blown away. All they asked for was two changes and I admit I'm stumped. Hopefully someone here can help:
1 - Set Default Wallpaper for *all* users: I've written a script to copy our company wallpaper to "C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper" during a deployment. Is there any way I can modify that script to set that wallpaper as default for anyone who logs into that computer. Or if there's a non-script way to do this I'm all ears. I just need that wallpaper as default.
2 - Create a VPN Connection for our company intranet: Right now this is being done manually in the Network and Sharing Center. All they are doing is choosing "Set up a new connection or network" >> "Connect to a workplace" >> "Use my Internet Connection (VPN)" and just entering our VPN server IP Address and giving the connection a name. Surely there has to be a way to automate this with a script or something? Can anyone help?
3 - BONUS: This is just gravy, but if anyone can tell me how to "silently" or "automatically" disable the "Highlight newly installed programs" checkbox for all users using a script or something, that would be *wonderful*.

2. Does your company use a VPN client?
3. This option is set in the Registry. You could create a startup script or add this to your Task Sequence. Create the Dword and set it to 0 to disable highlighting.

1. I actually came across that script when I was poking around the Deployment guys forums, but I noticed that it did a lot more than just set the Wallpaper. I was trying to "keep it simple" plus the registry editing sort of made me nervous. I guess I can give it a go and see if it can be made to work for me.
2. Our company dos not use a VPN client. If you look back at my description of the process in bullet point #2 we are just using the Network and Sharing Center that is built into Windows 7 to create a simple VPN connection. That's why I'm so certain there has to be a way to automate this process. ll we are doing is entering an IP Address and giving the connection a name. Surely I can script that, or is there maybe some way to create the connection on one computer and save it as a file that I can then copy to each machine during my deployment?
3. Thanks for answering my bonus one too. Please forgive my ignorance because I am new to a lot of this. I assume I can create a "file" with the proper registry settings that can be applied during deployment right? I've seen people crate files that do this and use the .reg extension. Do you know how to make one of these or can you link me to a tutorial that steps me through it?
You could always edit the script to leave the other parts out. Thanks for the clarification on the VPN Client, just wanted to make absolutely sure. Let me know how if the process you found works for you.
For the reg key, you would want to create the key I described, add it to your scripts directory, and then add a Client Build Custom Task in StateRestore to set the key in the registry. You can do this by adding a RunLineCommand to the Task Sequence. Then the command would look like this
