Without details about the problem, there's not much we can suggest other than to contact iTunes Store Support. The iTunes Store has no phone support, so I don't know what call you think you'd be waiting for. Go here:

One thing to check is to see if you have any items waiting to download in iTunes (on your iPhone).
The most recent time I had this problem, I checked there and found 5 items that hadn't downloaded properly. Once cleared, things started updating again.
It looks like there's a system-wide download queue, and, unlike the non-iPhone versions, it will only download one item at a time. So, if one item gets stuck, the others wait patiently behind it until its their turn, like polite people on an escalator. Pausing or deleting the troublesome download will allow the others to continue. -

Try disabling your computer's security software during the downloading and installation. I found that rebooting my router and modem helped too.

It's in recovery mode. You don't have a choice. Anything that was on the phone is already gone. If you didn't back it up, there is no way to recover it.

A student approached me today asking if I could help with their recently installed CS4 suite on their Mac laptop. Bridge/ACR was not recognizing their RAW camera files. I asked if they had downloaded the most recent ACR version of ACR and they said they had and they had installed it. I had a peek and indeed they had downloaded v5.2 but I did not think they had copied the camera raw plugin to the right folder. So here we were in an area without any Internet access and the download did not include any install instructions whatsoever.
I'm writing this for any Adobe staff who might lurk in these forums to ask WHY NOT INCLUDE INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS!! I found the details just now on the Adobe website - a bit late to help. Why not include those instructions in the downloaded update? Perhaps in Acrobat format??

However, it would indeed be nice if Adobe included a ReadMe file with the download itself repeating the instructions. -
