i already have shockwave flash 11.3 installed and some of the things i use require adobe flashplayer 11.5 or higher
Flash for IE in Win 8 is updated through Windows Update.
Shockwave (a different plug-in) can be downloaded for IE here: http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/otherversions/

I click on OK and it sends me to the Adobe page where there is a button to download Flashplayer. I click on the button and it takes me to www.adobe.com. When I place the cursor over the link Firefox show the link as www.adobe.com and no file to download. How can I update Flashplayer? Is your page link broken?

What do you mean you can't write HTML5 code? Are you working within an HTML5 doc type?
To make HTML5 your default doc type, go to Edit > Preferences > New Document. Click on screenshots below.
To create a new page, go to File > New > Blank page > HTML. Select none from the 3rd column. Select HTML5 doc type. Hit Create button.

When you install or update software you will often be asked for permission to change the system. This will need your computer's administrator password, chosen when the computer was switched on the very first time. It is nothing to do with the Adobe password.

One thing to check is to see if you have any items waiting to download in iTunes (on your iPhone).
The most recent time I had this problem, I checked there and found 5 items that hadn't downloaded properly. Once cleared, things started updating again.
It looks like there's a system-wide download queue, and, unlike the non-iPhone versions, it will only download one item at a time. So, if one item gets stuck, the others wait patiently behind it until its their turn, like polite people on an escalator. Pausing or deleting the troublesome download will allow the others to continue. -

Try disabling your computer's security software during the downloading and installation. I found that rebooting my router and modem helped too.

As of now, viruses are rare for Macs. What is most common are
trojans and malware. These are apps/websites that try to coerce
the unsuspecting user actively download and install the malicious code.
They present the user with lots of very scary and ominous statements.
Basically, they prey on fear.
The best way to avoid the vast majority of these is just don't
download or install anything you did not specifically request.
If a you enter a sight that asks to download an update, as was the
case with the Adobe trojan, go to the developer of that software
to verify that you do in fact need the update.
If you are really concerned about viruses, etc., ClamXav is a popular
one and is free. Here again, if you don't open anything you didn't
request or download something you didn't request, you should be safe.
And yes, often the anti-virus programs can cause headaches with system
operation. Not all the time, but does happen. Things tend to break most
often when there is an OSX update/upgrade, and the vendor of the anti-virus
software is not keeping current. -

Pale screen colours after updating to Adobe Flashplayer 11.8.800
I have just updated to Adobe Flashpayer 11.8.800 using Window 7 (64 bit) my screen colours all changed and all went pale... do I now uninstall or is there a fix ? Anyone else have the same problem ?
Now fixed after re-booting - the colours came back again...It sounds like we've got a number of *different* problems on this thread. I'll try and respond to a few of them.
@filter 2.5 and everyone else running into a green screen issue. Please try the solution outlined in the post below to see if it will allow you to use hardware acceleration. The other alternative is to try a different ATI driver.

Sometimes video and audio problems are caused at a lower level and not directly related to Flash Player. I recommend trying both of the links below to see how they perform. If the problem exists with both, then Flash Player is most likely not the culprit as the HTML5 video link does not use Flash Player when playing. You can verify the use of HTML5 by right clicking the HTML5 video and looking for the words "About HTML5" at the bottom of the context menu.

@mem2013 - The Flash Player update service will not impact Flash Player's performance. This is a separate service that runs for just an instant on your system once an hour (if you have automatic updates enabled.) Changing it from manual to automatic shouldn't make any difference. -

We have a problem in showing commenting tools in Adobe Acrobat under browser plug-in in Internet Explorer. Adobe Support cannot answer my question and refer me to Devnet here.
Our system is using browser plug-in to display PDF file by Acrobat under > > Internet Explorer (document viewer). The PDF documents have reader extension enabled.
We supposed that if a PDF page is viewed and I customize the toolbar, the same toolbar and icon will be displayed next time when I retrieve a page, only if I select "Review and Comment" icon, and it only applies for v8.0.0. If I do not select review and comment icon, or I have selected review and comment icon but > > use other version of 8.x, my selected toolbar and icon cannot reappear next time.
If my selected toolbar and icon do not appear, I can press F8 to hide the icons. If press F8 again to unhide the icons, all my selected icons can be shown this time. But it does not automatically re-appear if I open another documet viewer.
Kindly note that all PDF files have reader extension enabled, and only Acrobat 8.0.0 Professional is used in client PC. There is no Adobe Reader in the PC. The PDF version is 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x) or 1.5 (Acrobat 6.x). The user has comment rights since the PDF file has reader extension and Acrobat 8.0.0 is used. User has no problem in mark-up the PDF files, but has problem in showing the selected tools.
OS: Windows 2000 SP4
Browser: IE 6.0 SP1
Acrobat version: Acrobat 8.0.0 Professional
PDF version: 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x) or 1.5 (Acrobat 6.x)
Steps to produce the problem.
1. Scan paper document and create a batch of PDF files (one page per file)
2. Enable reader extension for all PDF files by LifeCycle.
3. Put the PDF files into a web based interface, entering a page number will open a new web browser which interface the browser plug-in and display the content of the imaged PDF file by Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0.0.
4. Open a page. It only show a few icons on toolbar (see a.png).
5. Select the commenting icons to be shown (do not enabled in "review and comment)". The icons will be shown.
6. If the browser is closed, then use the web interface to open another page, the selected tools cannot be shown (same as a.png attached in my previous email).
7. Select "review and comment" tool. (see b.png attached in my previous email)
8. The selected tools are shown again (see c.png attached in my previous email).
9. Close the browser, use the web interface to open another page, the selected tools are still here.
10. Unselect "review and comment", the selected tools will be hidden next time when a page is opened by the web interface.
11. Close the browser, and open a new page in web interface, the PDF file will be shown, and the selected icons are hidden.
12. Press F8 to hide icons, all tools are hidden.
13. Press F8 to unhide icons, all selected tools that are not shown in step 11 are shown again
14. If Acrobat 8.0.0 is patched or updated, "review and comment" tool has no effect in "memorizing" the selected tools.That option is nothing to do with the PDF being editable, it's to control the display of the toolbars. "Reading Mode" is when the toolbars are hidden and the black head-up display navigation bar appears at the bottom of the screen.
PDFs displayed within a web browser with Acrobat/Reader X are not editable, nor can you apply markups, unless you're within a browser-based-review workflow. You have to save a copy locally and open it in desktop mode to make any changes.
