Why cant install google toolbar with firefox 5

why cant I install google toolbar with firefox 5. I did have it untill firefox did an update
Thanks Peter

Google needs to update the Google Toolbar program for Firefox 5.0.
The Google Toolbar '''7.1.20110512W''' version does work in Firefox 5.0 by using the Compatibility Reporter extension, I tried it myself due to the large number of postings about GTB problems. <br />

    Question
I want to install Google Toolbar for Firefox, but this is availaible only for Firefox 4. Can I replace My Firefox 6 with this older one Firefox 4, please?

Which Windows version are you running?
Try to run the Firefox installer as Administrator (right-click: Run as Administrator) and maybe the Firefox program also just one time.

  • I have the Google toolbar with Firefox 4. The autocorrect populates with suggestions but if I click on one, the list just dissapears and I'm back to my original text input. This happens on my laptop and desktop.

    See above

Sounds like it is malware. For suggestions with lists of security programs available and articles on the subject:

The answer has been provided by Google, so you will need to start working on the workarounds while you will still be able to use it at all.
'''The Google Toolbar is no longer supported by Google in Firefox 5 and up''', you may be able to get what you want from it for a limited time, the directions to install the Google Toolbar were posted before Google actually announced dropping support.

Probably not the answers you were hoping for but it does give you more time and workarounds. It is very unlikely that Google would change their mind as Google Chrome does not have it and both Firefox and Chrome can do everything with or without extensions. Please mark as solved. Have 500 unsolved problems that Firefox is not responsible for makes solving other problems harder to wade through.

  • I seem to be stuck in a loop re-installing the google toolbar for firefox, since i endup at the "agree and install" page every time i reestart firefox

On my netbook, I have used the Google Toolbar for Firefox, with its handy Bookmarks access, for several years, but it appears to have become "invisible" when I open Firefox. I tried reinstalling it, and Firefox seems to perform the download, but when I restart Firefox to complete the download, itr opens on the "Start the Download" page, and the toolbar is still nowhere in sight. What am I doing wrong?

I agree with whereitis above, I hate it when options are removed (ex: the Bookmarks side panel (Ctrl-B) button missing) etc.. Firefox's major BOLD one-liner is: CUSTIMAZATION. Now to regain this CUSTIMAZATION freedom, Firefox suggest to solve this by installing the ADDON "Classic Theme Restorer". I don't want to install any ADDON to customize Firefox! I went with Firefox because it was CUSTOMIZABLE, and that is the only reason why I went with this web browser! Now, Firefox is asking me to add an ADDON to CUSTOMIZE it. What is this?!

  • Why does Flash install Google Toolbar?

Why does Flash install Google Toolbar? Honestly, do you have ANY idea how annoying that behaviour is? I had no option at all to not download it, I could not stop downloading it. I was taking from a "you need to install flash" button on Facebook to the download.
Honestly things like this make me rage, installing things automatically without an option.
Until now, I used to think that it was annoying that Apple wouldn't allow flash on some of their devices. Now Adobe pulls **** like this, I'm not surprised. To hell with Flash I say.

This is a user-to-user forum, and you're "preaching to the choir" here. IT ISN'T going to change, and NO ONE from Adobe management ever sees or reads these pages. Employees are here from time to time but no one who makes these decisions participates in these forums, per company policy. (I used to work for Intuit, and we were strictly prohibitied from posting in their forums. A team leader I worked with was fired for it).
Links to the FULL installers are posted literally HUNDREDS of times each week throughout these pages by myself, and at least three others I know of, who volunteer in these pages daily.
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
I DON'T run Adobe and no one here does, so I won't even beging to discuss business ethics.
The solutions have been offered, and I recommend you update NOTHING, including your OS, automatically. I don't because I don't want junk like Ask Toolbar, Yahoo Toolbar, Bing Toolbar, Bing Desktop, Norton or McAfee on any of my nine systems.

  • Why Isn't Google Toolbar available for Firefox 5.0 Very Disappointing

I just installed Mozilla Firefox 5.0. My Google Toolbar and Gmail button has disappeared. When I try to download the Google Toolbar, I get a message saying it's not compatible. Google is the only search engine I like. If I can't use it how can I go back to my old firefox.

''Google Toolbar, and GMail button disappeared''
These are two different problem, you have probably already solved the GMail one, but just in case you haven't. Mozilla change the Firefox home page to one of there own instead of a google.com page. Google pages, have links at the very top to other Google applications, for some you must be logged into Google. The applications get added as you use them. If you change your home page to
:http://www.google.com whatever google page would be where you live, you will solve that problem

If this solves your problem then mark as solved, if there is an aspect that is not covered directly or through searching extensions on that page, or other searching that you can try, please indicate what is not covered and describe what it does and we will try to help you with a Firefox solution. Don't expect to see anything that is an exact replacement of a Google Toolbar feature. Likewise if you have additional solutions not covered others would likely want to hear about them.
You can make Firefox '''Firefox 5.0''' look like Firefox 3.6.19, see numbered items 1-10 in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 5.0, or 4.0.1, look like 3.6)]. • How to use google toolbar in firefox 5? Can I use the older version with google toolbar or I have to delete firefox from my computer using IE etc?

I want to use google toolbar in firefox 5, but it does not support it.

You can try this extension to override compatibility issues - once it's installed, you can just re-enable Google toolbar.

  • A gap of 1 row below address bar in firefox browser after I installed Google Toolbar. Unistalling both and then installing just firefox hasn't helped. Any solutions?

I am not able to remove the 1-inch gap which came just after installing google toolbar. After that, I uninstalled Google Toolbar and Firefox respectively and then again, installed Firefox alone but the gap of 1-inch (1 row) remains just below the address bar of the browser. How to remove it?

    Hi Danieldesira,
Thanks for the solution, it worked!!! I disabled extensions one by one except Google Toolbar. I observed that the gap was removed only after removing Norton Toolbar 5.6 version. For now, I have removed the toolbar of Norton but it seems necessary for security purpose. Can we keep it on and still hide since in the empty row it generates in Firefox is not showing a single button or anything else.
    Thanks.

  • I want to reinstall firefox version 4; 5 does not allow google toolbar with credit card autofill

I am using FF 5 and want to use google toolbar autofill for credit cards. Google tells me it does not support version 5 for this add on.

Firefox 4 was replaced by Firefox 5 and is no longer supported.
*Security and stability issues in Firefox 4 will not be updated in Firefox 4; '''those issues have been fixed in Firefox 5'''.
*Only 2 Firefox versions are currently supported: Firefox 3.6.19 (support to end soon) and Firefox 5.
*Firefox 3.6.20 (replacing 3.6.19) and Firefox 6 (replacing Firefox 5) are scheduled to be released on 08/16/2011 (subject to change).
There are some suggestions in the articles that follow to replace some functions of the Google toolbar.
'''<u>Google decided that they will no longer produce the Google Toolbar for Firefox beyond Firefox 4</u>'''. <br>
Future versions of Google toolbar will only work with IE7-9. Google Toolbar is not available on any other browser, even Google's own browser.

  • Why is adobe forcing me to download Chrome and the Google Toolbar with Flash?

Why is adobe forcing me to download Chrome and the Google Toolbar with Flash? I'd rather not see CNN videos than have to have Chrome and the Google Toolbar on my computer.

    ScottSatellite wrote:
the only way Adobe was offering the Flash download from CNN was if you accepted Google Toolbar and Chrome at the same time.
You shouldn't download Adobe software from anywhere but the adobe.com domain.  If you download it from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ you will get an opt-out for Google Chrome (or McAfee, or whatever is on today's menu):
Better yet, use the offline installers that were posted earlier.
While I use many Google products and services, Google Chrome is not one of them.  I especially don't like how it installs, setting itself as the default browser without asking, and when you uninstall it, it will remain the default browser, which of course causes lots of problems.

  • How do I install a toolbar with the Croatian language

How do I install a toolbar with the Croatian language.
    Thank you!

Do you see the menu bar or anything else? As for the missing toolbar, this is the case for 90% of Firefox users, for instance the Google Toolbar. To restore it, you need to install Mozilla's Add-On Compatibility Reporter extension from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/15003 and restart Firefox twice.
As for the white screen, I am not sure what you mean, but your install looks corrupted, you probably need to uninstall Firefox and reinstall from scratch. You may spend too much time and effort otherwise. Back up your settings first if you have any, like Firefox bookmarks.
