Why cant pdf portfolios be converted

why cant pdf portfolios be converted?

They can be, but it's a bit of a work-around, you must have Acrobat Pro:
Portfoilio to pdf:
Open Portfolio
Beside the layout button there is a Files button - Click Files Button
Go to EDIT>SELECT ALL
Control Right click - Extract from Portfolio
Save files in a new folder.
FILE>CREATE>COMBINE FILES INTO A SINGLE PDF

    Hi Tim,
You would need to subscribe to the service in order to be able to use it.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro converting multimedia files in PDF Portfolio

I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and it says that it can convert multimedia files in a PDF portfolio
but when I try to convert wmv files in gives me a conversion error. The user's guide clearly outlines that this program can convert multimedia files - MOV, AVI and WMV files to PDF files within a PDF Portfolio. Am I missing something? Why won't this work?

You have not indicated what version of AA9 or OS you have. The current version is 9.5.5. You can do updates from the Help menu usually. If that fails, download updates from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows and install them in order.

  • Why cant I have the date format like this:  1/2/07, it converts to Jan 2

Why cant I have the date format like this: 1/2/07, it converts to Jan 2, 2007
I want to keep it like that because, I transported a huge spreadsheet from my PC, and it has like this: 1/1/07, and there is way to many, to go back and change. Please help. Thank you.

    Hello
    Welcome to the club.
The response seems to be simple.
Those who wrote the Help are not those who wrote the PDF User's Guide which are not those who coded the application.
As on this forum you will met only users trying to help other users, no one would be able to tell you if what we got is a bug or a design flaw.
    Like many of us,
*Go to "Provide Numbers Feedback" in the "Numbers" menu*, describe what you wish: a way to define the default format used as Automatic date/time.
Then, cross your fingers, and wait for iWork'09

  • Converting PDF Portfolio in a single PDF in Acrobat Pro 10

I need help in converting a PDF Portfolio file into a single PDF
This was simple to do in Acrobat Pro 9, but now i have upgrade to Pro 10 and this feature seems to have disappeared.
Getting rid of this feature would be huge mistake on Adobe's part, so i doubt it would be gone.
There has to be a way to do this....please fill me in on this.

    Hi,
To combine files in a portfolio into a single PDF file in Acrobat X:
    1) Launch Acrobat
    2) In the Getting Started dialog, click on Combine Files into PDF or go to Create > Combine Files into a Single PDF...
    3) Click on Add Files in upper left of the Combine Files dialog and select Add Files...
    4) Navigate to and select the Portfolio you want to convert to a single PDF
    5) Click Add Files
    6) You will see an alert "File [File's name] is a PDF Portfolio that contains multiple files. The files within the PDF Portfolio have been added to the file list." Click OK to dismiss this dialog. The files within the Portfolio (both PDF and non-PDF) will be displayed in the file list. Non-PDF files will be converted.
    7) Reorder files as desired (note: currently custom order from within the Portfolio is not maintained)
    8) Click Combine Files. You will see progress as the files are merged into a single PDF file.
    9) Save the resulting file
If the Portfolio file is open when you access the Combine dialog, you can choose "Add Open Files" under the Add Files menu.

  • An existing PDF portfolio and want to convert it to Acrobat's Portfolio but when I pull it in

I have an existing PDF portfolio and want to convert it to Acrobat's Portfolio but when I pull it into Portfolio is shows one document but does not show the 55 pages that make the exisiting portfolio of work.  Help, all I can seem to find are directions to pull in every photo individually.

Dave, he is asking the same thing I want to ask.
He has a pdf portfolio and what he actually wants is a basic pdf.  (his pdf portfolio has already been made, ie existing, not hypothetical!)
I cannot find the answer either... extremely frustrating since I was not ever trying to create some flash based slide show, but a proper PDF, and inadvertently created the portfolio when choosing to Create PDF From File... You would THINK the default behaviour would then be to create a PDF, and NOT a portfolio pdf!!!!!
Really annoying and frustrating... bad job Adobe!
Is there a way to convert back to basic pdf??

  • WHY make a PDF portfolio?

WHY make a PDF portfolio? There is a lot of information on how but I don't understand why. What is the point, why not make something else? Does someone have an example of a situation in which makeing a portfolio really benefitted them in ways that other solutions would not have addressed.

Hi Leslie - Behance doesn't do PDF portfolios, but we support image, video, and audio uploads.
As for how Behance and an online portfolio can benefit you, check out some testimonials from our community! http://www.behance.net/testimonials

  • Why is my PDF Portfolio blank?

I just used Adobe Acrobat XI 11.0.10 on Mac OS X 10.10.2 to create a PDF Portfolio. Acrobat let me choose the click-through layout, select files from two folders, and then displayed the PDF Portfolio window.
I would expect the Portfolio window to have a row of thumbnails along the bottom, and a big preview at the top.
What I saw instead is that the Portfolio window is blank.  I don't see any of my files there.
Clicking the Layout and Files tabs have no effect, the portfolio is blank either way.
When I try to re-add the files to the portfolio, I get an alert saying that 'the portfolio already contains a file with the name "myfile.pdf". Would you like to replace the file "myfile.pdf"?' So it seems that at some level the files are in the portfolio, but they aren't visible.
The portfolio size is 8MB, which is consistent with the size of the files I have included in there.
I don't see any troubleshooting tips about Portfolio blankness. The forum didn't suggest any relevant topics for me to read first.
Where is Acrobat going wrong?  How can I make it handle this portfolio properly?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Jim,
You need to have full Flash Player on your system to view content in PDF Portfolios when using Acrobat/Reader 10.x or 11.x.
    Please refer https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/flash-player-needed-acrobat-reader.html
    Download the FP @ http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player.exe

  • Can't drag files into folders in PDF portfolio

I have created a PDF portfolio that contains primarily PDFs converted from e-mail messages, along with a few files from various Microsoft Office products. The portfolio has been added to over time, and now we have almost 100 files in the portfolio, so we'd like to organize these files into folders so it is easier to use.
However, when I create a folder, I am not able to drag any files into it. I've tried all different types of files--PDFs, Word, PowerPoint--when I drag the file on top of the folder, I get the circle backslash symbol indicating the function is not allowed. I can't find any information about this in the Help files; every tutorial I've looked at indicates that I should be able to drag and drop files wherever I like, but doesn't mention what to do if I can't.
I'm using Acrobat Pro X on Windows XP with Service Pack 3.
Any suggestions about why this might be happening and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated! I really don't want to have to recreate the whole thing, but it's not going to be very useful if we continue adding unorganized files.
    Thanks,
    Lisa

I tried a different layout (I had a custom layout set up; I switched to the standard Grid), and I still can't drag and drop.
I just now created a new portfolio with a few of the same files, and I was able to drag the files into a folder I created.
Yes, the original portfolio was created in Acrobat 9.
    Thanks,
    Lisa

  • Filename in PDF portfolio?

Sorry for what I'm sure is an easy(lame) question.
I don't want to show the filename when creating a PDF portfolio and I've hunted for the answer without any luck.
How do I only show the image or show a custom text/ title but not the XXXXX.jpg filename?
    thx!
    > just to clarify.... when viewing a PDF portfolio of images I don't want to show the image filename below the image.

    Hi,
I've been trying to hide the file name myself. It seems intuitive that, while in the Modify area of the PDF Portfolio, under "Specify File Details" that one would simply unclick "Name" under "Columns to Display".
But all that seems to do is hide it while I'm within the Modify section. I save and go back to view the pdfs and there are the file names.
Anyone out there know the answer? Even if it's just a link to more info, that would be great. I need to get this out but without the filenames. I've searched in Google but no good info.
BTW, the Description option is a nice touch and shows upon immediate hover. That's why I don't need to show a file name. Plus, you can write more in the description than is viable/sensible in a file name.
    Thanks for your help.
