Why cant we shuffle our playlists
just got a nano...rediscovered life...
my playlists reflect a certain subset of songs that have the same features - morning songs, party songs, get me in the mood for a nice glass of wine list...- but i have to listen to the playlist in the same order...apple shoudl allow shuffling of playlists...
I think if you select a playlist and begin playing songs in it - then whilst playing the list hit menu till you get back to the menu with "shuffle songs" on it and select it will shuffle the songs in that playlist (not the entire library)
Give it a go and see. Or maybe someone else can confirm my understanding is correct (my partner has just gone on a business trip with my nano - charitable aren't I)

I am back with an update. I turned off Match on both the ipad and the iphone 5. By doing so I was able to sync my Iphone and ipad to itunes and store the music on my devices rather than the slow streaming. So far this has fixed my problems with the iphone I have all my music, playlist, most of the album art and so on. But the ipad is a different story. I have the music and artist but not one playlist I am sure Apple will have an upgrade soon that will address these issues they are usually very good about this.
Now have any of you experienced another problem that has existed as long as I have used faces in Aperture.
I have over 200 faces and they are organized a-z problem is I have this going on A-Z folowed by a few that start over A-Z followed by another few A-Z and again a 4th time A-Z. Imagine how difficult it is while I am showing someone the great features of my iphone, ipad and imac. Which I do talk highly of all the time. But how do I explain that even though their name starts with a or b or what ever they are not important enough to me to be in the first list of A-Z or even the 2nd or 3rd list of A-Z someohow they are in the 4th section of the list!!!!
I have managed to get the Imac to fix this but for some reason the IOS devices do not. Any ideas?

Cannot Shuffle Music Playlist from Apple TV
When I go into my homeshare libray from the apple TV, then go into Music->Music Playlist and then choose any of my playlists that my music videos are in, I can play my music videos one by one. There is always the option to shuffle at the top, however when I pick "Shuffle" it displays a yellow triangle with exclamation mark in it and says "no content was found." Any idea why I cannot shuffle a playlists of music videos from the apple TV?
I'm having the same issue. For some playlists, I can shuffle, but others, it won't and I get that "No content was found". I haven't figured it out yet. Has anyone else?

I used to be able to drop and drag inrto playlists. Now I get a message which says press + button to add, but there seems no way of doing it. I'm using windows 7
Apple Support Communities updatesI’ve tried the control-I route and then tried to locate the file without success. What I get as a file location starts with //localhost/C:/Users. It may also be useful to know that most/all the missing files seem to have been copied from CDs. I can’t be sure if it’s all because the whole music file has nearly 9000 entries! The ones that still seem to work were copied from an external hard drive.

The "missing file" error happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, one of its parent folders, or the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place. (In the case of a library moved from one system to another there are also potential permissions issues. See Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows if this might apply.)
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to Get Info, then click No when asked to try to locate the track. (Due to a bug in iTunes 12 you currently have to say No twice!) Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, a folder renamed, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions. If the difference between the two paths is an additional Music folder in one path then this is a layout issue. I can explain further if that is the case.
In some cases iTunes may be able to repair itself if you go through the same steps with Get Info but this time click Locate and browse to the lost track. It may then offer to attempt to automatically fix other broken links. Although it says something like "use the same location" it expects to find the tracks in the same artist & album layout that it generates, not all in one big folder.
If another application like Windows Media Player has moved/renamed the files then the chances are that subtle differences in naming strategies will make it hard to restore the media to the precise path that iTunes is expecting. In such cases, as long as the missing files can be found somewhere, you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes. See this post for an explanation of how it works.

When adjusting the audio volume in a selected region, why does it give me a curved line as a transition instead of straight, and why cant I change the fade shape like i can with a fade in our out? When I slide thet volume all the way down it makes a very abrupt down curve. It's audibly noticdible.
Thank you.Use the range selection tool and select the portion of the clip you want to change the volume on. Drag the volume line down and FCP will create keyframes which you can adjust as you want to get a fade shape.

I can see my external Segate drive in "disk utilities" and on our netwroked Imacs. Why cant i now see the drive on my HD? It only shows up on my HD as a gosht. Thank you

When i get a new iphone i loose some cantacts, because you cant save them to the sim card from the iphone, and iknow you can do it throught the computer save them there, but what happens if the computer breaks? I think this should be a feature added to the new update for all iphones.

Becasue this is not a feature of the iphone.
A phone is not the place for all of you info to reside. It should all reside on your computer where you have a complete and regular backup.
The iphone simply allows it to be portable.

No.
You can sync contacts over the air, if you like. I use icloud. All contact I input on my iphone are immediately transferred to icloud and to my computer. I backup my computer regularly. Very simple. -
How do you get the Touch to not shuffle a playlist?
I created a playlist for a class I teach, in a specific order. When I go to play it, it shuffles the playlist even though I did not hit the shuffle button. What am I missing? The shuffle is there to "shuffle" if I ask it to, so why is it doing it when I don't? Makes it hard to teach when it keeps changing the order.
The problem may not be Shuffle. iTouch changes the order of my playlists when they are put in a folder for syncing or transferring from iTunes to the iTouch - before they are ever transferred/synced. I am still trying to find out how to get it to maintain the order I set up when I created the Playlist of Songs in the first place in iTunes on my Mac. Very annoying and frustrating and that goes for the rather paltry instructions offered with this $300 device, too.

If I go to contacts for a split second the + sign is there and then it goes. Also on Mail,Contacts, Calendars in Settings opens and then in a split second goes back to desk top. As I lost my earlier ipod touch had to change password to gmail but cant change it on my ipod as cant get to settings! Help please?

Apple did approve our in-app purchase without publishing the folio ahead of time.
I have a new question: Can I change the "Cleared for sale" attribute in the iTunes Connect interface from no to yes before a folio's scheduled publication date? Or should I wait until after the folio has been published?
I would think you could set the "Cleared for sale" attribute to yes before the publication date and it would not cause any problems since the folio is not available to purchase until it's published. -

why cant i download from one computer that has internet and use it on my other pc that has no internet,,, computer (a) has been working fine with our ipod,and we have about 4gigs of our music,,,but now we have a pc (b) that has the web, and we have music that we have paid for and cant download it.. the message pops up and says.. would you like to replace your Ipod libary with the one from this computer , we say no so we dont lose our music... we should be able to use the pcs in our house for our ipod i thought. ????????
If you use more than one computer, you'll need to use manual updates instead of automatic sync.

I have an iPod classic that I plug into my car stereo. My car stereo can play playlists, or if just plug it in, it will play every song in alphabetical order. Once plugged in, I cannot use the iPod to "shuffle". I require a pre-shuffled playlist. I have done this before in iTunes 11 will special instructions, but I've since misplaced those instructions. I know how to build a large playlist of all of my songs. Now, how do I shuffle that list of, say, 20,000 songs, and save to a new shuffled playlist? Don't say it can't be done, because I've done it. I know Apple removed the ability to do this quickly and easily, because obviously Apple doesn't really take their customers wants and needs into account. Otherwise, they would see the thousands of complaints after they removed that feature.
So, is there anyone here that can help me? I don't really need to hear that it's not supported or that it used to work. If you know how to shuffle a playlist and save it in that shuffled state, please post the steps for doing this in Windows iTunes 11.

BluemookieJust go to Settings, Shuffle, then turn it to Songs. The songs will stay in the same order in the playlist, but they'll switch it up.

Original photo cannot be found
Im getting the above error on most of my photos. I can see them fine but if I try to drag I get the error. If I put a new photo into the library it happens. I didn't have this at all on the previous version of iphoto.
