Why covert installation of McAfee?

I just was notified that there was an update for the Adobe Flash Player

I started the download, looked at the progress, and saw that the download was attempting to download and install McAfee virus software.
I was highly offended. There was no obvious notice that Adobe was attempting to covertly install McAffee on my computer. Fortunately, my machine is an enterprise machine, and this was thus blocked.
However, I find this underhanded marketing attempt deplorable.

I am going to keep this up every time I have to update Flashplayer like this. You guys are undoing whatever positive work the necessary Flashplayer does by having this f* up installation process that makes most people install invasive software they do not ask for. Please get a grip!

You DO have the option to disable automatic updates. Your post doesn't read as though you don't know how to do that, but it's in the Global Settings under the Advanced tab. The downside is that you have to manually update, but the following links remain the same even though the file is updated with each release:
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
They contain the FULL installer only. Bookmark them and you'll never have to bother with third party software.

Je viens d'installer le plugin Flash sur firefox 3.6.11 et à ma grande surprise cela installe aussi McAfee Security Scan Plus sans me demander mon avis.
Je suis en france et cette procédure sans mon consentement est illégal.
J'aimerais avoir plus d'information sur cela.

I think it is fair to assume that Adobe has some expertise at user interface design, in which case such positioning indicates Adobe's INTENTION for the user to miss this detail.

Why WSUS installation on WS2012 R2 fails with message indicating server restart required?

Dear all,
I've trying to install WSUS server role on WS 2012 R2 standard. Server is domain joined, and local SQL server (SQL Server 2008 R2 with SP3) installed. This SQL server is to host the WSUS database.
WS 2012 R2 is fully patched. Nothing else is installed on this server except SQL server mentioned above. I initiate WSUS role installation, specify that WIS is not required, rather WSUS database is required, database connection to locally installed SQL server
is established; which succeeds without any problem, but when wizard starts WSUS role installation it continues to fail over and over. It indicates in server manager task view that role installation failed because the server require restart.
I restarted server several times, repeated the process but this continues to behave like this.
Why WSUS installation on server fails repeatedly?
Why log should be examined or any other dependency is missing here?
Please advise.

Thanks for the input, in fact I did mention server name to pick SQL server instance from, since the only instance configured is default instance locally on the server where I'm trying to install WSUS on.
When Add Roles/Features selection wizard gets to WSUS configuration; it asks for location where updates will be stored, next it asks to connect to SQL server to use for SUS database; that's where I specify local server's host name (in my case HQCAS) and
click "Check connection" this succeeds without any error.
All these steps proceed without any problem, but later on, WSUS role installation fails. I also checked CBS.log file; but it didn't give any specific clues? The only message I receive is that role installation requires server restart.
I reboot server; start all over, but the behavior remains the same. Since WSUS role did not get install in the first place, it won't be possible to check event viewer for WSUS related events. Moreover...wsusutil.exe tool will also be not available until
after successful install.
I couldn't reach any post deployment. Had a look at that link you forwarded, the
update mentioned in below area also doesn't apply since I specify the local server's host name and then click "Check connection". This steps goes without any error. Any other insight would be greatly appreciated.

I have received my normal notices of update for Adobe acrobat. However, during installation it tells me that it is also installing McAfee antivirus software. I do not want any McAfee program on my computer, ever! There is no indication until installation is underway that you are requiring this install, no way to deselect it, and frankly, McAfee is a pain to remove from any computer, and does not play well with industry specific software I am required to use. WHAT THE *#))!_ IS Adobe playing at here?

Where's the class files? Why the "installer" nonsense?

Why do I have to download a big fat Windows installer executable just to get the 1.4.2 classes? I don't have admin access to my office PC and simply want to import the newer classes into my JBuilder projects. Why all the hoops and unwanted extras?

Why does installation cd not work for new hard drive for 2009 MacBook pro?

my hard drive died in my 2009 MacBook pro so I bought a 1tb ssd drive and had the store physically install the drive only. I arrived home and stuck in the original installation disc and pressed and held the c key after the chime. Nothing happened. after a minute or so the screen turned black and rebooted up again with the chime. It would continue to reboot whether I pressed the c key or not. when i pressed the d key it would say:
"Apple hardware test does not support this machine"
why why isn't this working like it is supposed to?

Have you tried using the Startup Manager (holding down the option key) whilst booting? If everything works as it should, you should be given the option to choose the DVD to boot. Holding down the 'D' key should load the Apple Hardware Test.

It looks like you moved Xcode out of the original location as dictated by the installer....don't do that
Put it back.
Use a dock icon or an alias if you must, but it's best to leave these tools where the installer puts them.

You should use CentOS 5 and follow the pre-requisites for the installer. The first version of database certified to run on RHEL/OL/C6 is 11gR2 11.2.0.3.
Regardless of whether you actually have the pre-reqs installed properly, any version prior to 11.2.0.3 will probably always fail the pre-req check on 6.

Why is installation file for Exchange Server CU7 much smaller than SP1.iso?

I was wondering why is the ISO-Image for Exchange Server 2013 with SP1 4.5 GB in size and the CU7.EXE only 1.6 GB? I thought CU7 contains everything SP1 contains. Is it because one is a disk image and an other an executable?

The EXE is compressed. When you extract it, it should be close to the same size (probably bigger) than the SP1 iso.

Why does installer quit "unexpectedly" when i try to re-install printer software

lexmark 2500 printer kept claiming to be "offline" so i uninstalled it and when i tried to re-install using the CD I'd used to install the printer when I first bought it the installer kept quitting. any suggestions?

Could be many things, we should start with this...

1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)

3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

Trying to install Elements 12, why does installation wizard first ask me to uninstall Elements 12?

When trying to install Elements 12 I am following setup which asks me to uninstall from my computer?

I never installed Elements 12 and still the installer wants to uninstal elements 12.
I'm on windows 8.
When doing this i get a error that the path is empty.
I'm putting in some screenshots to make it more viseble.
