Why did Adobe remove the Site Map Tool in CS4?

Is there a better, faster way to wireframe? I could wireframe a prototype 20 page website for testing in about 5 minutes using this tool. I doubt there is a faster way but there is probably a better way. What are some of the best practices on wireframing. Obviously, I am out-of-date if Adobe drops my main tool for wireframing.

The original announcement that the Site Map was going to be dropped was made in August 2007, and had this to say:
there are many features in the application that require significant
resources to maintain release to release, but aren't being used with
significant frequency.
That's obviously not much comfort to you, and I'm sorry that I don't have an answer regarding an alternative wireframing tool. However, if you have need for a particular feature in Dreamweaver, it's always a good idea to submit a formal request through the feature request/bug report form at http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform. "Bring back Site Map" is likely to fall on deaf ears, but "provide a simple wireframing tool for site development", with an explanation of how you envisage it working and the benefits it would offer other users, could bring a completely different response.
Good luck in your search for an alternative wireframing tool. If you find one, post the details back here for the benefit of others in a similar position to yourself.

  • Where can I find the plugins folder when I have opened PSE13? I miss it in this version! If so why did Adobe removed it? Then this version has no use to me.

I just purchased PSE13 and after installing I noticed that I can't find my plugins  while I could easily open it in my PSE11. Why did Adobe removed it???  If so I think I will install PSE11 again.
Kind-a weird that this version doesn't have a plugin-use anymore.

I have Windows 7 Professional X86 and I also noticed that PSE13 was installed in my  'normal' program files folder instead of the X86 program files folder. PSE11 used the X86 programfiles folder. I dunno why though!

  • In CC214 PS Why has adobe removed the "print Size Button"  And why have they made the Brush preview window so small you can't see the effects to accurately adjust them?

In CC214 PS Why has adobe removed the "print Size Button"  And why have they made the Brush preview window so small you can't see the effects to accurately adjust them?
These two things need to be remedied in their upgrades because It's become such a bother I've had to revert to older versions of PS.

Yea, and it's a pain to get to.  What was the rational for removing the print size button?   With the magnifying glass tool selected in older versions of Photoshop you would get a button that says "print size" right next to Actual pixels, Fit Screen, Fill Screen. Now I have to go out of my way and dig for it if I want to see the print size.  Of all the buttons you could have taken away, why not fill screen?  I never use that.
Besides the point I just downloaded the Oct Upgrade for PS and surprise! Nothing has changed and these are two big black eyes on newer versions of Photoshop.   The Brush preview window is  unchanged in CC but in CC2014 it's basically worthless.  If you apply a texture to a brush you can't properly see the scale of the texture, the spacing, scatter, etc...

  • Why did adobe vanish the Adobe Image ready from their package?

There used to be a a software called Adobe Image ready in the Adobe suite. it really made small animation and web animation very easy with the facility of main frame and time line . But I am a bit confused why did adobe remove it from the new suites? What should I use instead?

  • Why did you remove The option to disable Java scripts?

Everyone knows malware always comes through java scripts. So why did you remove the option to turn it off ? Why the false saftey excuse? (duckspeak) This makes no sense. Alot of people also get errors and have slower speed with some pages so they disable it. I understand there is plugins available to block scripts but they never work 100%. It just really really seems strange that a browser that was built on the idea of safety, security and trust has now suddenly removed a item that makes users less safe, Under the guise of safety. (doublespeak)
I will no longer use Firefox ever again unless you put this option back.

Also note that the option is available in...
    '''<h1>about:config</h1>'''
    # In the address bar, type "about:config" (with no quotes), and press Enter.
    # Click "I'll be careful, I promise"
    # In the search bar, search for "javascript.enabled" (with no quotes).
    # Right click the result named "javascript.enabled" and click "Toggle". JavaScript is now disabled.
To Re-enable JavaScript, repeat these steps.
    '''<h1>Add-ons</h1>'''
You can alternatively install an add-on that lets you disable JavaScript, such as
*[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/noscript/ No-Script] (to disable JavaScript on a per page basis, as required)
*[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/quickjava/ QuickJava] (to easily disable and enable JavaScript, automatic loading of images, and other content)
*[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/settingsanity/ SettingSanity] (adds back JavaScript options, including Advanced JavaScript Settings, as well as options for loading images and showing the Tab Bar)
Im also not sure how you are a computer expert and dont even know the difference between Java and Javascript. Its pathetic that you dont know that Java is the most insecure thing, not Javascript, get your facts straight before bashing a correct answer and "Java Scripts" were not removed, but moved.

Why did you remove the "small icons" button from settings? Or were this function now?

    I need this function.

You can look at the Classic Theme Restorer extension to restore some functionality that was lost with the arrival of the Australis style in Firefox 29.

  • Why O Why did Apple removed the sidebar colors?

Why O Why did Apple removed the sidebar colors in the new Aperture update? I used those colors to organize my workflow.
Everything is Greyscale now. Isn't Photography all about colors? If I wanted a greyscale user interface I would have bought a PC ...

It's the new design since Lion - Iphoto already has gone gray before Aperture See these links:
Re: After updating to Aperture 3.3 all my icons appears in Black and white. This includes the inspect button, photo stream button, the Facebook / flicker share button. Could you please help here ?
How to bring back the color: (for experienced users only)
Re: Have today loaded the 3.3 up date on Aperture. After the up date the colour of the Menu Bar and all icons showing projects / albums etc are now grey. Any thoughts on how to reestablish the colours.

  • Why did they remove the arrows and shuttle wheel?

It annoyed me to no end when years ago Adobe removed the shuttle wheel from After Effects, and now they did it with Premiere. What's the point of that? And even worse, now they also removed the arrow buttons on each side of the timeline. Are you freaking kidding me? With all the great improvements that Premiere CS6 has, and they removed an elemental tool for moving in the timeline? Try to move that stupid zoom slider when you are zoomed in to where the whole timeline is showing just about ten or fifteen seconds, and it makes the timeline fly at the speed of light in either direction. At best, you can use the mouse wheel to move a little bit, but that is slow as hell. It would be a good idea for Adobe's programmers to have this phrase as their first rule: "Don't fix it if it ain't broken"
Althought the zoom slider is a nice little addition, it's not a replacement for the arrow buttons. Sometimes, you need to move a couple of clips ahead or backwards, and the arrow buttons are the best way to do it. It would also be good for Adobe to copy the best of other NLEs, in this case from Vegas, which has the best way to navigate the timeline. Mouse wheel up or down, zooms in or out. Mouse wheel with shift pressed at the same time, scrolls the timeline at a speed that actually is useful. This zoom slider movement is so fast it's ridiculous and useless. If at least they included an option to set the speed for scrolling, it might be of some use, or at least if they also included an option to set the speed of scrolling with the mouse wheel, it would also be useful. But the way it is now it's useless and makes the editor waste a lot of time.

Mouse wheel up or down, zooms in or out. Mouse wheel with shift pressed at the same time, scrolls the timeline at a speed that actually is useful.
That should be reversed, where the wheel alone will scroll at a usable speed and the modifier plus wheel will zoom.
Of course, that's how it used to work.  Adobe 'fixed' this, too.

  • In Lion, why did Apple remove the up/down arrows in the scroll bars?  There is currently no way to move up and down in small increments.  WHY????

Every mac operating system software until Lion had the ability to use up/down arrows in the scroll bar.  This makes it easy to move up and down in small increments.  In Lion, it is impossible to move up and down in small increments.  Click on the scroll bar and it moves up or down an entire page.  When you try to put the curser on the scrollbar and move it up just a little, it moves a whole bunch.  With the up/down arrows, you can click on the arrow and it will scroll ulp or down one line a time.  There is no way to do this in Lion. Why would apple remove the very useful feature of up and down arrows.

    Yes, agreed a missing element.
Did you try using the up / down arrows on the key board.

  • Why did nokia remove the 3d chip and IM messenger ...

hey when i use my nokia n96 and play 3d games it does not work which makes the n96 **bleep** and because of that when i play animations it lags to much and for what reason did they remove the graphics card for. one more thing is that they removed IM chip and VOIP chip which means i cant use windows live messenger or yahoo messenger or skype on it why did they do that for i thought when new phones come out they have more and better stuff but nokia are removing them things that actually need you to keep going on life. WHY DID THEY DO THAT FOR REMOVING THE CHIPS.

There's no IM or VoIP chips removed; IM and VoIP are software.
    Read this:
    http://conversations.nokia.com/home/2008/08/the-report-of-t.html
The 3D hardware graphics accellerator was not removed from the N96; rather the N96 is based on hardware that never had it in the first place.

  • Apple why did you take the Sites folder with my website in it? Nobody helps!

Since upgrading to Mavericks I lost my local website folder that used to be in the Sites folder!
    Error: Can't connect, check your info! Oh Apple why did you take it? "H E L P  P L E A S E!"

    Thank you Barney-15E
I have no clue why this is or why I am getting this error in Mavericks. All I have is a local website folder in the Sites folder using Dreamweaver CS4 to update my files, working perfect on my other drive running 10.6.8 . Why I cant update and get the error above is the reason I am posting here. (and several other spots)
    You said:
"First off, FTP is disabled in Mavericks, which is why you likely cannot FTP into your local Mac--why are you ftp'ing to the Mac you are working on?"
    You said:
"Your Sites folder is in your Home folder. However, if you created it somewhere else, you'll have to figure that out."
When I say my Sites folder is not in my Home folder you can bank on it. No I never changed any folders in there.

  • Why did they remove the code validator in DWCS5??!!!

I just noticed that some had to create an extension to reinstall the page validator for CS5. Why on earth did they remove this feature???

Adobe is always reviewing Dreamweaver to identify underpowered or little used features which are no longer relevant, or better alternatives exist, in today's market.
Occasionally their research and conclusions seem to be off course with the majority of users. Radical action, such as dropping the feature, may taken too early.
They made a call by dropping the in-built DW validator in CS5 but, apparently, it's still wanted. I never use it personally but plenty still do apparently. It may yet find itself living on borrowed time though.
The antiquated Timelines feature in earlier versions was another example of a feature which was pulled prematurely (back in MM days) and quickly reinstated via a patch following a concerted user campaign. It was eventually dropped in later versions when the time was right.

  • So why did Apple REMOVE the option to RATE an app when you delete it?

This is a step backwards. I download and try hundreds of games/apps and usually delete them from my phone when done but with iOS4, you can't RATE them as you delete them. Why was this feature removed?

Apple actually talked about why they did this. They did so at the request of developers who thought that it was unfair to their apps. Asking users to rate an app when they were deleting it meant it was far more likely to get a negative review. After all, if a user is deleting an app it likely means they weren't enamored of the app in the first place.
I suppose this would be fine if it was balanced by also asking users to rate their apps at other times during regular usage when they were more likely satisfied with the app, but that wasn't the case. All in all I think developers had a fair point and I'm glad Apple removed the feature.
