Why did 'Album by Artist' replace my album category?

I don't know why, but this has happened, and I can't get my regular Album category back. It's really annoying me to no end, because I don't have a regular Album category on my iTunes and instead an Album by Artist category. If anyone has any idea of how to fix this, please help me, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Just click on that header again. Each time you click on it is cycles through three different versions. Album, Album by Artist, and Album by Year.
A couple extra clicks on that header should get you back to basic "Album" sorting.

The iPad mini was not still under warranty -- so they charged me $199 -- and I did not ask because the way they said it, there was not an option. When I got home and checked, it appears that there should have been an option to re-install the firmware.

Why did my podcast disappear in the iTunes category

My podcast appeared in iTunes under the category specified its the XML doc. Then one day it disappeared. The podcast is still available in iTunes if I search it for it's name: "Chef Paul's Cookin' with Passion". I am wondering if I made a mistake in my .xml or if it just simply doesn't get enough taffic to keep it appearing in the category as it did when I first submitted. Can anyone answer this question?

I have the following keywords in my .xml file:
<itunes:keywords>food, chefs, cooking</itunes:keywords>
For the first couple of weeks it appeared when I typed them in the search and now it doesn't. Do you know if I am doing something wrong?
Also, does the positioning in iTunes relate to the quantity of traffic each podcast gets?

Dont have that problem but i have two tips:
1 Other ipod/iphone apps: they are often the problem, i had an alarm clock and that blocked the whole ipod app, so check if other apps dont use songs to wake up or anything else..
2 try to leave the ipod app trough the multitasking instead of pressing the home button?

Check the tags via the info panel on each system.
You may see that one version has settings for 'Disk x of y' disks.
There are other fields that should be compared too, like 'grouping'. You also need to be certain the playlist (or the Library) are sorted by the same criteria e.g. by 'album' is different to 'album by artist' etc. That can cause unexpected differences in the way it displays.
I suspect match has given you iTunes copies of the files with Apple's own metadata whilst your originals are from CD with your custom tags.

I love the new version of Grid view but some of the other changes feel like they still need some fine tuning. And I miss cover flow even if I didn't use it that often...
You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
Ctrl+B to turn on the menu bar
Ctrl+S to turn on the sidebar (your device should be listed here as before)
Ctrl+/ to turn on the status bar
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
Should you still feel the need to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and suppporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

You can change the country in the next screen in the upper left if needed. Click on Contact iTunes Store Support under the iTunes Store heading at the top right side of the page. Then click on Purchase, Billing & Redemption in the next screen and follow the prompts.

Why did i pre order an album weeks ago for it not to download it !!!

Why did I pre-order this album so I can hear it as soon as it came out but I'm all over apple trying to figure out why the heck it won't download!!!! Thats completely asinine and I'm highly upset it, if this problem isn't fixed by morning further action will be taken. This phone cost to much to have any petty flaws, like really why couldn't I have just waited until i woke up the next morning to buy it if this was going to be such a Hassle. This is a conundrum and i don't appreciate having to wait all this time to listen to an album I purchased weeks ago. This is a flaws you all should have fixed LONG AGO ! -.-

Also check the print queue to see if a print job has gotten stuck. Click the home button twice and you should see recently used programs across the bottom of the screen. Scroll across to find the print queue.

Can't find artist in "artist" category on ipod but the music can be found in "Album" category.

I bought a "Cars" album on itunes 2 months ago and have been trying to sync it to my ipod ever since. It looks as if the sync was successful but when I disconnect the ipod and look for the music under "artist" it isn't there. I have deleted it from the ipod several times and re-synced my entire music library but even though it appeared to be in my ipod music library while still connected to my computer once ejected the music appeared not to be there. Even did a search for "The Cars" on the ipod and no results found.
Then, today, I decided to do a search for one of the songs on the album in my ipod and there it was! I searched for a few more songs and there they were. So I looked in the "all albums" category in the ipod and the album was there. It even says "The Cars" as the artist but if I look under "artist", "The Cars" isn't anywhere to be found. I have tediously looked through the entire "artist" library and "Cars" or "The Cars" is not there. Not under "C" or "T" or anywhere else.
I have never encountered this problem in all of the years that I have owned an iPod and I have owned quite a few. I don't know how to fix this. It is properly catologued in my iTunes library and when the ipod is connected to the computer it is in the "C's" as "The Cars".
Any idea how to fix this?

For the missing Artists on your iPod, make sure their tracks in iTunes are not marked as "Part of a compilation" in iTunes. You can do this by highlighting the track, right->clicking on them and choosing "Get Info" from the shortcut menu. When the window pops up, head over to the Info tab and make sure there is NO tick mark next to this option in the lower right hand corner. Lastly, sync the updated changes to your iPod if necessary.

How did albums get into my iCloud?

I recently reset my computer to factory settings as I was having problems but that is not what this topic is about. I installed iTunes and found some albums in the iCloud that I did not purchase from iTunes. In particular was a 2014 album by U2 named Songs of Innocence. I have not purchased anything from iTunes for a long time. If this is a feature of iCloud to add music into it, why did not all my albums get into iCloud?

Apple gifted everyone U2's Songs of Innocence album earlier this year as part of a promotion. It confused a lot of people and was not an uncontroversial decision.

Why did my replacement iPod Touch come with iOS 4.3.5?

My other iPod wasn't working so I got a new one but this one comes with iOS 4.3.5? Why did that happen? And it is slow too, is that from 4.3.5 too? Should I update or no? Cause I had battery issues on 5.1.1 on my old iPod and I don't want that happening on my new iPod. Thanks :)

Likely because when the replacement was refurbished, 4.3.5 was the latest iOS.
It is up to you if you want to update to iOS 5.1.1.

I should mention that, for the first problem, I do make sure that my new tracks are stored in the folder where I told iTunes that my music is in. Also, when I say the cataloging of my library stops short of cataloging all my songs, I have tried leaving the computer unattended for days (my computer's sleep mode is disabled). It always stops before cataloging all of my music regardless of whether I am doing something else while iTunes is cataloging, or if I just let iTunes be the only program that's open during the cataloging process.

do you have a strongly recommended default "managed" library (the iPhoto preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library is in its checked state) or a referenced library - you have unchecked that option?
It sounds like you have a referenced library and are now experiancing one of the very siginificant drawbacks of a referenced library and one of the many reasons they are strongly not recommended
Also note that iPhoto '11 may use alises in the originals folder as part of the upgrade
It is important that we understand exactly what you have and what is not sorking - what error messages you are getting
You must NEVER make any changes of any sort to the structure of content of the iPhoto library - there are no user servicable parts in it -- and you can not rebuild yoru librtary - only iPhoto ir iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - can rebuild a library unless you are a SQL programmer and understand the structure that iPhoto uses

Why IPHOTO album will not keep the template format when share to IDVD. Also, could be better if IPHOTO Album could access "inspector tool" with ability to change the slide duration time and apply a random "Transitions" to specific slide.

Are you sharing an album of photos or a slideshow to iDVD? If it's an album then what you get in iDVD is just a slideshow with the photos in it where you have to set the transition and slide timing unless you add music and select fit to audio.
Don't know what you mean by the template format unless you're referring to the themes in a slideshow? If you share a slideshow the ss is converted to a Quicktime movie file and that is added to the iDVD menu window. No changes are possible.
