Why did an iBook purchase only download the first chapter?What can I do about this?

is it possible you only downloaded the sample? the cover image for the book will have the word Sample in a red banner across one of the corners.
if you actually purchased the book and only received one chapter, then there should be a link in the email that iTunes sent you to dispute the purchase.

Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iTunes library is on an external hard drive, but iTunes is not recognizing the library, first make sure the right library is selected.
You can use these steps to make sure iTunes is opening the library on your external drive:
If iTunes is running, quit iTunes.
If you're using Windows, hold down the Shift key and from the Start menu, choose All Programs > iTunes > iTunes.
If you're using a Mac, open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option key.
You should see one of these screens:
Pick Choose Library and locate the library on your external hard drive.

If the right library is selected, but you do not see your songs, try re-creating the library using the instructions found here:

My iphone4 performed 2 backups, one with all my stuff on it and one without. How do I get my stuff from the previous backup?

In the process of updated to iOS 5, my iphone4 performed a backup, after installing IOS5 it performed ANOTHER backup (not sure why), but without all my stuff being synced from iTunes, now the backup file (and my phone) contain NOTHING!

Ok. I have 2 hard drives and one of them died apparently so..not knowing what to do, I did chose reinstall Lion after command r open start-up. The whole thing is a mess but my computer is back up and running with the second hard drive. I had a time machine backup which I've been dragging stuff out of. i had to re enter serial numbers and do all sorts of initial set up stuff. 1) How do I get all of my icons (like my HD icon and external drives icons) to appear on my desktop again? I can only find them through a finder window. 2) i now have to type a password to get into my computer (user) - I 'm the only user and don't want to have to do that.

I believe that that is how IMAP accounts are designed to work, if you delete an email from a computer or device then it will be deleted from the server. If possible you could try setting up the account as a POP account in the Mail program and you should then get a 'remove copy from server' tickbox (which will need to be unticked) on the account's Advanced tab in Mail > Preferences.

Have tapped one of the icons and it is now "waiting". Will wait and see if it changes to a different/normal look and if it does (after updating or restoring) I will do the same to the rest of them. Your iCloud account is tied to your Apple ID account - if you go into System Preferences>iCloud>Account Details, you'll see the associated email address. If you need to change your iCloud prefs, change your Apple ID - http://www.apple.com/support/appleid/.

HT3847 Why does "organize my library" only manage some Movies, and how to control which it does?

Ok, so I'm totally frustrated. I've long used the "let iTunes manage my library" option, but for some reason all of my recently added moves are in subfolders of \Movies, but all of my older movies are in the root of "Movies", so like the below:
iTunes
\Movies\
    \A Knights' Tale\A Knight's Tale.mp4
    \Underworld\Underworld.mp4
    21.mp4
    Aliens.mp4
    .. rest of my movies
I prefer to have all of my movies in \Movies without the subdirectories. If I turn off "Organize" it let's me move the dozen it's put in subfolders, but I really WANT it to manage my music in subfolders. Problem is, as soon as I turn "Organize" back on, it moves my Movies again, but ONLY THE DOZEN it had in folders before? Why isn't it at least consistent?? Is there some way to control this behavior? Argh.

as long as you don't see an +exclamation mark+ next to those tune, the tune is still on your HD. to make iTunes show you where it is, right-click (or ctrl-click ) on the tune and select +show in finder+
Does anyone know how to fix this
you can try this and see if it suits your needs: go iTunes > preferences > advanced and deselect +keep iTunes media folder organized+

How do I de-authorize a computer I don't have or doesn't work. I only have one computer and it is telling me I have authorized the limit of 5 computers already.

I am trying to authorize my computer and it is telling me I reached my limited of 5 computers. It says I need to de-authorize one of the five computers that is authorized. I don't have any other computers. Please help.

Take a look at this Apple support article; it may help:
One computer using multiple iTunes Store authorizations
If not, then there will be a button in your iTunes Store account information that will allow you to deauthorize all systems associated with that account. Log into your Store account and you should see it. You can then reauthorize the computer(s) you're using now. You can do this only once per year, though, so try my first suggestion before you use the "deuthorize all" option.
