Why did apple make me shut off find my iphone when i ordered a replacement iphone

I called 1800myiphone to get a replacement phone yesterday. When they told me they would send me a replacement the first thing the girl had me do was shut off find my iphone. Anyone know why?

That is required so that the Activation Lock is disabled.
As long as Find My iPhone is actived the only way anyone can do anything with it is by first entering your Apple ID and password. Otherwise all it is a brick.

Why did Apple make iTunes 7 look like a Windows XP App.? This version of iTunes doesn't even look like it belongs in OSX. It's ugly is about the only way I can put it. I can't figgure out why they removed the EQ icon and didn't even assign a key command for it. Now yoy have to go into the menu to select it. Also I have noticed that it sometimes downloads the wrong artwork for album covers. The old version of iTunes seemed much better and I have reverted back to it untill Apple fixes the problems with version 7 and makes it look like part of the OSX family of applications.

Well I wouldn't say it was ugly but some changes do leave something to be desired.
I certainly aggree about the equaliser button and the visualiser button has gone too but at least they assigned a key command for it. The scrollbars need more colour and I'd prefer the buttons at the bottom to stand out a bit more like the ones at the top.
I see no reason to go back to iT6 though, especially as I would misss Cover Flow. You could have a long wait for a change of interface and in the meantime you miss out on the good parts of iT7. If your track information is correct and identical to that on the Store then it shouldn't get the wrong artwork. Luckily I already had most of my album covers in place from other sources such as Amazon and just used iTunes to get a few more. My only complaint about the Get Album Artwork feature is that it's getting it from the US store when I want it from the UK store.
Anyway these forums are really here to enable users to help each other solve problems and not to discuss Apple's decisions. If there are things you want changing then do what I and others do and send constructive criticisms and requests via the link below, if you haven't already.

I did this update just the way I've always done updates and had exactly the same problems: none. Unless you tell us what difficulties you had/are having, we can't really comment knowledgeably.

Why did Apple make the new iPod unable to use Griffin iTalk or iTrip?

I was so disappointed when I upgraded to the new 5th gen. iPod and was unable to use the accessories I purchased for my previous iPod. Am I missing something? What am I supposed to do? Is there an attachment that will make them usable? Why would Apple make a new iPod that wouldn't include the same connector?

My IPod touch 3rd gen. 8GB doesn't have any of the capabilities a "3rd gen." has. If I would have known this I might have purchased a 16 GB or 32 GB instead. Why did apple make such a product? Can I do something about this?

That's because it's not actually a 3G iPod Touch. It's a 2G unit. Apple never sold 3G 8 GB iPod Touches, but some third party resellers erronenously reffered to them as so.

Why does Apple TV randomly shut off in the middle of playing music?

Can anyone please help us with Apple TV? It worked the first night and played for the entire evening. Now it will play for a short time and just stop mid way through a song. Any thoughts?

This is a step backwards. I download and try hundreds of games/apps and usually delete them from my phone when done but with iOS4, you can't RATE them as you delete them. Why was this feature removed?

Apple actually talked about why they did this. They did so at the request of developers who thought that it was unfair to their apps. Asking users to rate an app when they were deleting it meant it was far more likely to get a negative review. After all, if a user is deleting an app it likely means they weren't enamored of the app in the first place.
I suppose this would be fine if it was balanced by also asking users to rate their apps at other times during regular usage when they were more likely satisfied with the app, but that wasn't the case. All in all I think developers had a fair point and I'm glad Apple removed the feature.

Its been like this for awhile and I can not fix it

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

You're saying this is happening on a Mac?? Find My iPhone is a feature of iOS devices, not Macs. If you are trying to change the iCloud ID on an iOS device, you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted. If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Apple didn't make this easy, did they! When Lion first came out, I think that check box was under the Trackpad heading of the System Preferences, whether you actually had a trackpad or not. I take it there's nothing there, either?
I plugged a plain ol' three button Logitech mouse into the iMac, and while the Mouse panel options did change some, the same check box for Move content in the direction of finger movement when scrolling or navigating was there.

Are you trying to change the Apple ID associated with your iCloud account? If so, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID. This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.
To avoid losing photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll (if not already there) before deleting the account. To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.

My ipod classic turns on with apple logo then shuts off about 30 seconds later, when plugged in my windows and itunes will not recognize it.

earlier my itunes told me that my files were corrupted and I needed to restore, so I did. In the middle of the restore I lost internet connection. Now my computer and Itunes will not recognize my Ipod and if it is not plugged in when I turn the Ipod on it only shows the apple logo then shuts off after 30 seconds. If it is plugged in it will charge, but Itunes and Windows will not recognize it. I have tried the menu + select shutoff multiple times with no change. All it will say while it is charging is do not disconnect.

The clicking sound is your iPod Hardisk, trying to retract and find the boot sector unsuccesfully.
Hopefully, you can do the iPod Disk Diagnostic as in this great post by tt2., it wont fix your problem, but let you know, how dire is your Hardisk health.
So only as a last resort, one way, to get the stuck Hardisk head free, is to bang the iPod on a rubber mouse pad, when you reset it, but do it at your own risk, some very lucky guys got it working again for the next 14 months, like myself.

Apple don't make or 'own' songs - other companies allow Apple to sell them. Sometimes these rights owners remove the songs from the store. Apple can't do much about that. You should make backups of any purchases, since Apple cannot guarantee they will be available in future.
