Why did Bing suddenly appear? Now I have problems.

I've been using FF for a few years as my primary and favored browser. A week ago, Bing appeared in the address line and I am not getting the same results I used to when doing a search. My searches result in vague and irrelevant results. I want to get rid of Bing. I tried uninstalling FF, then re-installing, but Bing is still there. How do I get rid of Bing?

hello, this sounds like a problem possibly caused by adware on your pc. please install the search reset addon - it will revert the most common customizations those adware programs do in firefox back to the default: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/
if the issue is still not resolved afterwards, please go to ''firefox > addons > extensions'' & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc).
also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there.
finally, run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] & [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner].

I did not update in time, now I have problems and I cannot seem to update ical. Can someone help guide me?

Apple said to update ical. I guess I waited too long because my calendars and all my events disappeared. I tried syncing with my iPhone and it deleted my calendars off my iPhone. Double clicking on a calendar invite does not work either, it won't open or populate my ical. I requested an update through Mobileme to get ical working again and nothing..... It does not appear to want to update or start working again. Is this an issue with Apple ical in general?

Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode:
1. Turn off iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, slide to turn off.
2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
5. Release the Home button
6. Open iTune (make sure you have the newest version of iTune)
7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad

You have to work this out with iTunes Support.
http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
You can change the country in the next screen in the upper left if needed. Click on Contact iTunes Store Support under the iTunes Store heading at the top right side of the page. Then click on Purchase, Billing & Redemption in the next screen and follow the prompts.

I changed my ID, now i have problem to up date the apps I purchased with old ID. What shoul i do?

Depends on what you mean by "changed", if edited your account on appleid.apple.com to use a different email then just ignore that fact it shows the old email and use your current password.
If you created a new appleid then those old apps will always stay associated with the old id, in that case you can only update them with the old password or uninstall them and then redownload them and they will be linked to your current id

• Why did Mail suddenly stop receiving as of yesterday?

My apple mail 4.5 stopped receiving mail yesterday about noon. Nothing has changed, I have not installed anything new. I wasn't even home!
Now I can send, at least it appears to send. I am using OSX 10.6.8, and have been for a while.
Any suggestions? It's so frustrating. Would using Outlook solve the problem? Is it the outgoing mail server down? I don't even know how to check, other than the connection Dr. It says can't connect to POP server.
Thanks
Debbie

No ability to access Mail on MacBook since 20th, same messages as MycalD.
Called Apple, was told that I'd need to spend $49 for tech support or should go to Store.
Checked Communities; there were a couple dozen similar problems, but only one post (that I saw; it takes a long time to sort through requests for help and then find help, it seems to me) that proposed solutions, which I tried with no result.
Failed to get resolution using Apple Troubleshooting instructions.
Used Chat & was told that I need to upgrade from 10.5.8 to Leopard (free to MobileMe account holders) & then spend $30 for Lion. The theory is that migrating from MobileMe to iCloud with my current OS is preventing mail from synching with MacBook. I don't know why this should suddenly be a problem. (No problems with Mail on iPhone3 or iPad2 or accessing through Safari/iCloud, true, but I migrated to iCloud four months ago.)
So far, three+ hours spent on this issue.
If anyone with this problem actually gets it fixed, I'd appreciated knowing before downlading Leopard & purchasing Lion....

• HT4060 Suddenly my iPad won't charge. A box appears saying 'this accessory is not supported'. What does this mean. Why has it suddenly appeared?

Suddenly my I pad won't charge. A box appears saying 'this accessory is not supported'. What accessory? What does this mean? Why has it suddenly happened? What do I do?

Hi Eileen,
With iOS 7, the devices have become more sensitive to the type of cable that is being used to charge the device. I have found that with my iPhone 4, once I upgraded to iOS 7, it became a little more sensitive to even my iPad charger. It doesn't always recognize it if I just plug it in, but if I slide it in slowly until I hear the charging tone, then I can push it the rest of the way in, and everything works as it should.
Any chance the cable is bent or frayed? How long have you had the device and cable? If it is under a year old, take it into the Apple Store (device and cable) so you can show them what is happening. They should replace your cable.
Cheers,
GB

• Why did Safari suddenly start "never" accepting cookies?!?

Two days ago, Safari suddenly by default is set to "never" accept cookies whenever I load safari. I always have it set to the cookies setting "Only from sites I visit". Every time I use Safari now, I have to manually change it back from "never" to "Only from sites I visit".
I've deleted the plist file and cache. What else can I do to fix this?

I've deleted the plist file and cache.
If you are referring to the com.apple.Safari.plist file try this instead...
Open a Finder window. Select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left then open the LIbrary folder then the Cookies folder.
Move the Cookies.plist file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.
Restart your Mac. Launch Safari. Go to the Preferences / Security pane. Make sure Only from sites I visit is selected.
See if it will stay.
if not, check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. Could be an Extension over riding your Cookies preferences. If you have any Extensions installed, turn that off, see if it makes a difference.

• Holla, I need some help with the mess I have created on my Mac.I deleted Mackeeper...now I have problems everywhere :/

So the story goes, I for some reason thought it'd be smart to delete mackeeper, I guess not. Since I have done this, I now get survey pop ups, slow slow navigation of my mac and some of my itunes files have entirely vanished.... I put Mackeeper in the trash and deleted it along with the few things in there... before this started happening... I now apparently have to pay to have Mackeeper again? I thought Mac was great in the no virus department or am I an undercover genius and figured out how to properly mess up my Mac to the point that virus's have taken over? I also noticed I had a file convertor where I was able to watch my avi files through has disappeare, entirely no trace of the program.. Is this something I may be able to do or is the shop best off having it?

Maybe the uninstalling wasn't done correctly. Did you follow these instructions?
http://applehelpwriter.com/2011/09/21/how-to-uninstall-mackeeper-malware/
If you didn't, you may need to re-install the dreaded MacKeeper and then uninstall it again following the above.

Just upgraded from a 3gs to a 4s and now have problems getting on the internet.

If your backup is encrypted and you don't know the password anymore, you'll have to start from the beginning and set up the phone without the backup. An encrypted backup can't be used anymore without the correct password.

• Why did rMBP suddenly shut down before the delivery man could say Good-Bye?

Hi community,
Can you explain why an rMBP which I've just bought switched off without warning?
Here's my story in details:
Proof that it’s new, how it all happened and my theories why it could happen.
This is the paragraph which proves that the item was brand new:
I got an rMBP delivered from a well-known shop-chain. I carefully examined it. It hasn't been unsealed in any way. I opened the so-called transportation box. Unsealed the Apple box. Cloth inside, scent, MagSafe sealed.
Now this is what I did to the MBP:
Pushed the power button. No reaction. Connected the MagSafe. Amber light. Now again a fact in favour that the MacBook hasn't been used: It asked for initial settings: the language, region, name, password and so on. Inserted a a USB flash card to Identified the computer with some progs. As a prog didn’t unzip, I plugged in a USB Modem and entered Safari.
The MBP shut down. I touched the keys, reconnected the cord.
And this is what I can offer as explanation:
My guess 1 is: the MBP couldn’t work together with my USB flash card. It’s well-known MBPs don’t tolerate third-party peripherals. my USB flash card is produced by a respected firm, but it’s about 9 years old.
My second explanation is the mac didn’t like my MagSafe. I used a combination of the MagSafe from the freshest kit and the extending cord from my previous MBP which is 2008.
And the weakest excuse is the battery was so low that even plugging in couldn’t help. But I’ve never experienced that before.
The reason why I purchased this new device is the same problem which I’ve just described above: it also switches off.
Specs: APPLE MacBook Pro 13 ME864RU/A
(Intel Core i5-4258U 2.4 GHz/4096Mb/128Gb/Intel Iris
The date of production: Febr. 2014.

Barry,
Thank you that you let me understand how to sign with my name!
I can't believe those are my mistakes. These are two reasons why: 1) Experience reminds me, notebooks of all manufacturers can work even without batteries, and you, as Lvl 7, remember that no matter how uncharged the accumulator of an old MBP is, the device begins working as soon as you've plugged in the adaptor.
2) The cord was standard. Old, but made by Apple. And it did work. Provided the poor Mac with power. The older extending part had successfully worked together with the thin cord of a new MagSafe kit I'd recently bought as well as with a couple of previous ones.
. "You used a bunch of stuff that did not come with it. " And what bunch, Barry? One part of the cord only? Maybe you also mean the two usb cards! Then I can say they've never switched down any notebook. As for the first item (the modem), I've been using it for several years and had used a couple of its predecessors since 2008. And neither the second USB, the flash storage card, could cause a switch down too. I did have issues with one usb device, a no-name card-reader, but I couldn't notice failures caused by the two USBs that I've mentioned above.
The delivery man isn't familiar to Macbooks, but at least he had worked for the company for a long time, and he said that the device died and it was he who offered to take it back.
Yet, I might admit your answer is right. Cause the forum has taught me that any supernatural theory which comes to my mind as explanation to yet another problem occuring to my old MBP is, in fact, reality which has already been described by the forum users:-)
So, have new Macs really become so tender and do I have to ask this very Macbook back?
Nick
