Why did I crash on the new itunes update?
I just updated itunes yesterday. Since then I can't backup to my computer. Ended up losing everything on my iPad2. Need a simple answer since I'm barely computer literate.........

Also consider the following approach. I have found a temporary solution, allowing the previous version of iTunes (v. 11.1.3 (x64) in my case) to be re-installed. It will allow you to re-establish use of iTunes until the Apple software engineers fix the most recent disasterous upgrade (v. 11.1.4). Since the new iTunes update 11.3, right after that I couldn't connect my iPod nano 7th G to iTunes. It kept showing me that it couldn't find my ipod, that I had to reinstall iTunes. I did that and still. And now I can't connect my iPhone 5 to iTunes to sync my music. Can anyone please help me ?

iTunes has not had a sidebar for over a year. You can see one (as iTunes 10 used to show) by doing View > Show Sidebar from iTunes' menu.
But I'm not sure if that is your issue. You do not need a sidebar to do home sharing. Are you running the current iTunes (11.1.3)? Have you turned on sharing in Preferences? Have you done File > Turn on Home Sharing? -

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

Resolved!
After contacting Apple, I received a reply from their engineers:
Copy QTMovieWin.dll from: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
to: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
And that did the trick.

How do I manually transfer music with the new itunes update for Windows? I don't want to sync my library and lose all of my music for what I have in my current library.
The same way it was done in every previous version.
Connect the device to the computer.
Right click on the device in iTunes and select Transfer Purchases.
Why would you lose any content by syncing with iTunes?

Trying to install the new itunes update and it keeps saying error could not install itunes. Currently I am running windows 7. Any advise to fix this problem. This is doing this when installing itunes/quicktime, safari 5, mobileme control panel, and the software update itself. The itunes version is 10.3.1
That suggests that the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

THIS WORKS! I kept trying to reinstall several times and also had the EXACT same error message. I then I went to my control panel and went to the Unistall Programs -> Selected Apple Software Update -> Right clicked -> Select Repair. I let it do it's thing, then reinstalled iTunes and it worked just fine.

I just downloaded the new itunes update, now I can't copying TV shows purchased from the library to my backup computer, it says the files are invisible. Never had any problem doing it until the update. I have a Mac Pro G5 OS 10.6.8. The desktop hidden files app doesn't reveal the TV shows.
