Why did I lose apps in backup when updating to iOS5?
I updated phone and computer to iOS5 after syncing to iTunes. Now I cannot get my apps back...why? Where did they go? What use is a backup if you cannot bring back the information?
The backup doesn't contain content, just data. Do the apps not reside in iTunes?

Because ipod touch will sycn with one computer at a time. Syncing to another wil erase the current content.
You should copy everything from your old computer to your new one.

I'm sorry but I don't what the error means other than the ipsw file is bad - which is what it says in the article and it usually relates to something in the specific user account.
You did try creating a new user account on the Mac and tried updating that way? You have no security software running on the Mac?
The app that was downloaded using your son's ID should not affect the update to the best of my knowledge.

What address book or cloud service were you syncing your contacts with before the update? They should still be there.
Contact information is only part of the backup in order to maintain your favorites and recent calls list. Contacts are meant to be synced to a cloud service or address book. -

I have updated my MacBook Pro and since this update I have lst the ability to print. I have the printer connected to a Belkin router using wireless. All was fine before the update. I have downloaded the HP driver and still cannot see the printer available as a choice for a printer.

I believe now you potentially lose all extensions, plug-ins when you use the new reset function, but you will let me know.
If that is the case, your find corrupt file method maybe better. However, I reviewed the two help articles and there appear to be more files than just the delete search.json file and a possible search.sqlite file in the Firefox Profile Folder. I am confused. Then I have to find the folders. I think help articles mentioned how to find the profile containing the files, but not sure. -

I would guess that it is because you failed to make sure that they were all on your computer before you updated.

I used Article: HT2109 to transfer everything from my iPod touch 3g, iOS 5.1.1, to my iPod touch 5g, iOS 6.1.3. Why did data from apps NOT move to the new device? Games are starting over rather than picking up where they were on the old device?
- If you restored the 5G frmm the iTunes backup of the 3G were th app in the iTunes library of the computer you used? They have to be.
- If yes then try again. When I first restored my iPad 4 from the iTunes backup of my iPad 1 app data did not transfer. I tried again and it did. -

@cstigall - Were you able to get your contacts reversed? Sometimes that happens when you share or are logged in to the wrong Apple ID as Gina suggested.

The old version of iWork should still be on your computer.
Check in Applications (Command-Shift-A) for an iWork '09 folder. -

You are not alone in the childish "Mom, I can't find it!?" style questions. It gets wearisome playing 20 questions to just get to the point where you have a comprehendable question.
We still don't know what version of Pages.
Saved documents don't live in Pages, they are on your hard drive, on a server or some other device.
"ALL" your documents is comprehensive. So you have no documents of any description left on your Mac (now that we know it is a Mac) or anywhere else?
AS Peggy pointed out, if you never saved the document, it is gone.
We are still struggling to find out what you are talking about. -

I would guess that you lost them because you failed to do the basics. It has always been very basic to always back up your computer, most especially before any update.
