Why did I lose my contacts after updating operating system on my Ipad

I upgraded the operating sysem on my I-pad 2 to 5.1.1.
Now my contacts and apps are gone. Trying to figure out how to get them back.

Updating to iOS 5.1.1? Are you sure you have an iPad 2? The original iPad cannot update to any system newer than iOS 5.1.1. However, the iPad 2 can update to iOS 7.0.3 (current version).
So my guess is there is something strange going on that would even allow you to update to iOS 5.1.1. Etiher you have an original iPad, or you are using a very old version of iTunes on your computer, or something else very unusual.

@cstigall - Were you able to get your contacts reversed? Sometimes that happens when you share or are logged in to the wrong Apple ID as Gina suggested.

Since the latest update my Parallels and Windows 7 has disappeared. Is there a way to recover them? They were installed when I purchased the computer, upon my request, so I don't have the cd's.

Are you able to contact the company that provided the Mac and set it up for you, if you are it may save a lot of time and frustration for you.
However if that is not an option we need to know what update the system performed was. Look in the App Store under the Updates menu, it gives "updates installed during the last 30 days".
I am presuming you accessed Win 7 through Parrallels.
Use Spotlight to search for Parrallels, that may show where it as hidden itself.
The more info you can provide ( don't show any personal info though) may allow somne one on the forum to get you working again.

Z10 ...no longer able to add contacts after last operating system upgrade

I am Z10 user and after my last system upgrade i can no longer add any new contacts. This is being reported on a number of forums. Is there a fix? If I don't hear back from blackberry by the end of the week I will be dropping blackberry and moving to the Samsung Galaxy 4 or Apple I phone. Blackberry has blown it.

NumLock operation is different after updating operating system.

Once I updated to the new system (actually had to, replacement Blackberry), now Numlock will not stay on when moving between entry boxes in our web base system. Anyone know of a fix for this??

Although now up and running on the BIS site, after speaking to orange customer services, so able to add emails online, the fact that the email set-up application has disappeared from the menu completely after updating the operating system, seems to have the good folk at orange baffled.
I was on the phone for nigh on an hour to them, to try and sort this, alas to no avail. They tried resending service books several times too.
Issue has now been passed onto a technician, and am awaiting a call back...

You can sync the apps back to the iPad if they are in iTunes on your computer.
Connect the iPad to the PC and launch iTunes - If you auto sync, let the process complete.
Click on the iPad name on the left sidebar of iTunes under the devices heading.
Click on the Apps Tab at the top of the iTunes window on the right.
Click on each app that you want to sync to the device - uncheck each app that you do not want to sync
Click on the Sync Apps Heading
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of the iTunes window.
iTunes will now remember the iPad's configuration for the next time that you sync. Do the same thing with your iPhone - iTunes will remember that configuration as well.
You can always download apps again at no charge (if all else fails) as long as you use the same Apple ID that you bought them with.

Why did I lose wifi withe iOS6 update

After I downloaded the lastest version of the software, I can no longer connect to any wifi network. Error messages states "unable to join the network ....". My phone recognizes the network and repeatedly makes me enter the password.

I restored mine to 5.1.1 and as I knew would happen, WiFi works again.
Both 4s phones on iOS 6 saw networks, but would not connect to ANY of them. All workarounds tried, etc. No connection. (some guy on the forums said when it was changed to G only then it would connect, but greater than G networks would not, so there is a bug in the network range on the WiFi for the 4s) (also another said TKIP WPA-PSK does not work with iOS6, it has to be WPA2-PSK [AES], and not BOTH or WPA-PSK). But neither was my issue because I put no security and still would not connect!!!
Restored, and it works fine. I will wait until Apple fixes this. At least acknowledge it Apple.

I was having issues with my e-mails so I deleted one of my e-mail accounts and I lost my contacts.
Does anyone know how I can retrieve them?

You set them up using the appropriate option for that account. Though Yahoo, iCloud, etc., if contacts were being synced from them, should have notified you when you deleted them that the associated information would be deleted and should have given you the option to keep them on the phone. Exchange accounts don't give you that option, so wjosten's assumption that they belonged specifically to an Exchange account is most likely correct.

The old version of iWork should still be on your computer.
Check in Applications (Command-Shift-A) for an iWork '09 folder.

Problem: Upgraded my iOS on my phone to iOS 5... lost all my apps.
               Apps still show up in iTunes.
               Can NOT drag and drops Apps to "re-install" on my iPhone
               CAN "re-install" apps from my iPhone via the App Store
Bigger Problem:
                         Does iTunes not have functionality to "drag and drop" and install apps to a device?
I really don't want to go through the effort of having to select each app via the app store... I thought Apple was smarter?

I would guess that it is because you failed to make sure that they were all on your computer before you updated.

What address book or cloud service were you syncing your contacts with before the update? They should still be there.
Contact information is only part of the backup in order to maintain your favorites and recent calls list. Contacts are meant to be synced to a cloud service or address book.
