Why did iphoto delete all of my albums without me clicking anything?

I was looking to upload a photo online, just browsing through photos, all photos were there, but I decided I wanted to edit it first. I click out. I go open iPhoto, it says it needs to be updated, I decline, it closes automatically. I open it agian, this time allow it to update, then all of my photos are gone. It says the last update was April 2011, when I know I have uploaded probably 50 different albums since then. I restart hoping this fixes things. It doesn't. I restart again, no dice.
What happened? How could it have deleted all my photos? They aren't anywhere - I searched all images and pictures folders. I searched the iphoto library. What can I do?
I'm particularly upset because it deleted my engagement photos and engagement party photos. Not to mention all of my holiday photos from this year.

Assuming you're running iPhoto 9 or later do the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
2 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

1. The Contacts in iCloud is NOT a backup. Only syncs with all devices that use the same iCloud account.
If you delete a contact from one device it will deleted from all devices AND iCloud server. This is SYNC.
2. When you turned ON the Contacts in iCloud Settings, you was promted to merge. Did you tap "Merge"?
3. Did you check if there is a "Group" button at upleft corner inside Contacts app?

Why did Reminder delete all but one list?

I launched Reminders to find 7 or my 8 to do lists were all gone. It still seems to be connected to my icloud account? Why would all but one just dissapear?

On your iOS5 device go to Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Scroll down to Calendars, then Sync, and set a timeframe from the list that works best for you.

Why did Pages delete ALL of my documents?

"Your documents were removed from this ipad but remain stored in the cloud" And that appears to be the case. But why right now in the middle of using Pages to study for a midterm that's tomorrow? A TAD BIT INCONVENIENT. And a horrible scare while I'm trying to stay focused while studying. I've been using this app all weekend to review my notes, all semester for that matter while I take notes in several classes. I have a large amount of documents in Pages, most of which are notes from classes.
I can download one document at a time on my computer, but why can't I restore these documents to my iPad, and will Pages just get rid of them again? It's an old, first 64gb iPad, but it has 32gb of free space. Having said that I don't need to be told that I should buy a new iPad, as soon as I can financially I probably will, but I need this one to not scare me like that in the mean time.
Is there something I should do? Is it trying to tell me something? Any way I can prevent this in the future?

Make sure Documents & Data is switched ON.
You don't need a new iPad. I still use my first gen iPad for storing documents in iCloud without any problems.

When I downloaded photos from a camera SD card using an adapter, I noticed two Albums were created in the Photo app.(Last Import & All Import). Like you stated, there is no option to delete excess photos without deleting all of them. So this is the lengthy steps I went through to delet the extra album (I hope someone comes up with a shorter process):
1) Connect iPad into your PC (Make sure you configured to Sync with iTunes)
2) Go to My Computer > right click and open Apple iPad > right click and open Internal Storage > right click and open DCIM. (This will show the photos from those to Albums only)
3) Right click on a empty space on the desktop
4) Click on New > Folder
5) Go back to the DCIM files and right click on each file(one at a time) then copy and paste each file over the New Folder.
6) Go back to the DCIM files and open each folder and right click and delete each photo.
You will notice that all the same photos are being deleted on the Photo app simultaneously.
7) Then drag the New Folder into you Pictures on the PC.
8)Then open iTunes on your PC and click on the Photo tab and click Sync on the bottom right to import those photos back to your iPad.
I hope my scenario can apply to you.

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1

Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

After having experienced similar problems and having it back to work, I have a few suggestions:
- Try to find out if the syncing stops at a particular track or song. That might - out of the blue - have gotten corrupted in one way or another. Since that song will not be on the iPod, iTunes will try over and over to put it on and crash in one way or another;
- reformat the iPod as described in the iTunes 9 crash-thread. It takes time (at first it seems to do nothing, but that is because the green bar is moving with very small steps);

If the apps are not in your iTunes library - if you had never transferred the purchases - you will have to download them again via the purchased tab in the App Store on your iPad. Make sure that you use the same ID to redownload the apps that you used to buy them with.

They have not been deleted, as they are not present in your computer it indicates there is a problem with your system. Try removing the search.sqlite file as shown in the "Unable to search" section of this link - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_search_or_add_new_engines
That file contains details about the installed search engines, deleting the file will force Firefox to rebuild the list.

What address book or cloud service were you syncing your contacts with before the update? They should still be there.
Contact information is only part of the backup in order to maintain your favorites and recent calls list. Contacts are meant to be synced to a cloud service or address book.
