Why did last Update cause crash making apple tvs unusable?
Both my apple tvs are unusable now since the latest update. Help!
I've tried restarting. I've tried unplugging.
If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.

Why did I update my ios 6 through wifi only for it to ask me to connect to itunes and now its making me restore it? Will I lose everything?
It's in recovery mode. You don't have a choice. Anything that was on the phone is already gone. If you didn't back it up, there is no way to recover it.

Why did the update of my iphone4 to the IOS 6, lose my UTube icon, and was replaced with a Passbook app.
Apple is no longer supporting YouTube with a native application starting with iOS 6.0. The "old" YouTube application was automatically removed when you upgraded, and it no longer exists in the new iOS. There are however, numerous third-party apps in the App Store which will allow you to view YouTube, including one from Google, which is the parent company for YouTube. Passbook is a new application to iOS 6.0 and is not at all related to YouTube.

What you are experiencing is 100% related to Malware.
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Why Does 3D Reposse cause crashes and work so slow?
Why Does 3D Reposse cause crashes and work so slow? I get the pinwheel of death when I use this feature. It works at a snails pace. I liked the 3D Type effects in iIllustrator. Why couldn't Adobe have added all the Reposse features to Illustrator instead of craming all these new features into Photoshop?
They're worthless if the program needs an hour to process every selection. What are your OS specs, your Video Card and your Preferences > Performance settings?
Why Does 3D Reposse cause crashes and work so slow?
My guess would be because it has to create a whole bunch of polygons and your computer-set-up may be insufficient for the task. -
TS4009 Why did I get an email from apple saying my iCloud storage is being downgraded?
Why did I get an email from apple saying my iCloud storage is being downgraded?
You were (previously) a member at MobileMe and got 20GB's of free iCloud storage in addition to the 5GB's offered by the "free" iCloud service.
At the end of this month the 20GB's will go "poof" (like the rest of MobileMe). -
HT4623 Why Did this update result in changes to the apple id on my phone?
Why did the recent update cause so many problems on my new iphone?
The update would not result in changes to your Apple ID.
As for your other question it is impossible to answer since you haven't mentioned any specific problems.
I (and millions of others) updated to iOS 6.1.3 with no problems whatsoever.
What problems do you have? It is possible that some corruption occurred when you were updating your iPhone. -
Since last update renting movies on Apple TV painfully slow
We have been using Apple TV (2nd Gen) for 3 years, and since the last update, instead of nearly instantly starting movie rentals, it take 6-8 hours.
NOTHING ELSE HAS CHANGED !!!!!
Internet speed- Same
WIFI - Same
Only the update has changed.I often wonder if Apple actually tests anything outside the office. The last update killed Apple TV --- all I get is loading ...loading ....loading when trying to access iTunes Store to rent movies. Thankfully same movies are for rent on cable so I spent my money there. Well done Apple-- way to break what was working fine. I miss Steve Jobs. I'll check back in a few months to see if Apple TV is fixed.

Why with last update of mevericks usb ports and xcode not works ?
yesterday i install the last update of maverick and now i cant use the time machine, usb key and xcode
do you have a solution for that ?Just waking this thread up again in case anyone has had any other ideas.
Since last posting, usb became functional again, (came back on a couple of hours after a restart) and as long as I kept the machine alive, usb would stay alive. Bluetooth came back on briefly, but for most of the time was unavailable. System profiler shows no problems and Console does not report any usb related errors as far as I can see.
After a recent restart, usb disappeared again, and despite numerous restarts and being left on for a couple of days (and subsequently left off for several days) it has not come back. When usb is not working, examining the system profiler (through screen sharing from my macbook) usb shows no errors, but also shows no connected devices. I can charge my ipod nano with any of the usb ports (front or back), so power does not seem to be the issue.
I can't reset pRAM (because the keyboard is not available at boot), but have reset SMC numerous times. Have tried other keyboards, and mice. No joy.
I seem to have run out of ideas. Any suggestions? -
Sec. update causes crash. help using DiskWarrior
hello folks
I updated via Software Update and crashed mightily. I think I'm back up and running now.
1.Used Disk Utility once I booted in Safe Mode.
2.I used Diskwarrior to rebuild the "directory". Is that correct term?
Can someone plz coach me correctly using DiskWarrior to prevent HD problems.I installed the software but I would really like to use it correctly.
Thanks
Chuck S
iBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.6)"Just use it!" DiskWarrior is a great program which does its own thing very well and safely. Macs have an invisible "directory" file which the operating system itself (OS 8.x, 9.x, X v. 10.x.x, etc.) uses for itself to keep track of where it puts every bit of information stored on your hard drive, as a "file" is not stored in one contiguous space necessarily (like a single can on a pantry shelf) but pieces of the file are poked into the convenient spaces wherever on your hard drive. Because it gets changed so often by the operating system, the directory file itself can get fragmented and/or write-errors can occur to it, such that it becomes less than 100% reliable as a road map for your OS. Hence, DiskWarrior. In a couple minutes or so, DW collects all the information to create a brand new directory file, writes it unfragmented to your hard drive, and then erases your old fragmented directory file. (You can also run the "graph" function to see how fragmented is your directory file at any given time. I personally keep my fragmentation level at below 1-2% by running DW whenever it is over that. Consequently, I have not had crashes (as opposed to things freezing up for lack of sufficient memory requiring simply a restart) which are damaging since getting DW years ago.)
Should you ever have a catastrophic problem nonetheless, do not try to use your own computer, as the directory file may get further damaged. Alsoft's tech support is very good about helping using DiskWarrior under such circumstances, so contact them by telephone, or email from a different computer.
You might want to make a backup copy of your DW disk and use it routinely to keep your original disk pristine. When you run DW, you should/must boot up your computer using the DW CD and use the program on the CD. DW cannot rebuild the directory of an active system hard drive (as obviously, the active system's hard drive's directory file is the one needing rebuilding and it itself would be trying to rebuild itself if it were also the boot drive!)

10.6.2 update causes all non-Apple applications to crash.
update Final Cut Studio 3 and Aperture fail to open as well (pro apps)
Hi: Hoping for some expert help here.
Updated from 10.6.1 to 10.6.2 today, using the combo update. The Software Update version refused to install.
After a reboot, I was *unable to open any non-Apple branded application*. Firefox, Adobe CS3 or CS4, Roxio, MS Office, you name it. All Apple branded apps, iLife, iWork, Mail, Safari, all performed well.
I created a new admin account, hoping that those problems would not occur - but they did.
I have since done a Time Machine backup and am ready to do a clean install to rid myself of this mess.
Before I do, I'm wondering if there's an easy fix out there.
I did do a repair permissions before and after the install. I have removed Application Support files from the Library (both in the root and my profile).
Am now angry and frustrated, but this isn't the first time Apple has let me down with a poor update package.
Any suggestions/help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I am still happily at 10.6 because .6.1 broke things for some and offered me nothing I needed. Looks like .6.2 combo will be the same. I have no incentive to install it.
Keep in mind:
1. There is no evidence that the Snow Leopard updates have broken anything for most users -- because of the focus of forums like this one on problems, they are not reliable indicators of typical results.
2. Among the reports of Snow Leopard update problems, many if not most are caused by unidentified pre-exsting conditions, not the updates themselves. These things should be fixed whether or not you update the OS because they usually get worse over time & eventually can't be ignored.
3. For almost all users there are very strong incentives to install the updates. Among them:
• Eliminating bugs that have been identified in the original release of the OS, typically ones that occur under relatively rare conditions. Just because one has not affected you yet does not mean it won't in the future.
• Adding small & sometimes not-so-small improvements in the reliability, efficiency, & optimization of applications & application services. Every OS release is subject to deadlines; there are always some things that could be improved given more time to work on them. Software updates give the engineers the time they need to add these tweaks to the system.
• Eliminating potential security exploits that have been identified in earlier releases of the OS. The OS is pretty secure to begin with; however, it is not so secure that users should become complacent about this -- especially since many of the flaws are well documented, meaning those with malicious intent can easily learn how to exploit them. This has been a historic problem with Windows: so many users of that OS are so lax about applying security updates that Windows malware that could not exploit the updated OS still regularly spread across the Internet & affect tens of millions of users. This includes Mac users because the malware often turns the vulnerable computers into "zombies" used to create botnets to do things like generate spam or launch denial of service attacks.
There is little indication that this kind of malware currently targets Macs -- Windows computers are still the low hanging fruit most malefactors target -- but continued complacency among Mac users about this issue plus the increasing market share of Macs do not bode well for the future.
Simply put, all OS's should be considered ongoing works in need of improvement. Apple does not make public all the fixes or improvements any OS update provides, so unless you try them you won't know how significant they will be for you. Caution is good -- always have a backup/reversion strategy should something go wrong -- but the old adage "if it ain't broke don't fix it" does not apply -- the OS is always broken so it is really a matter of how broken it is, not if it is or isn't. -
Since the last IOS Update, my Apple 4-S goes dead within a 3-4 hour period.. I was told by Verizon that Apple is coming out with another "Update" to correct that problem.. My Apple 5 doesn't seem to have this problem.. How soon is this problem going to be corrected?

Ever since the update, Safari 5.0.6 quits unexpectedly upon lauch.
All I know is that during the computer's weekly update check, I got a Safari update and then Safari stopped working. I got this computer before Leopard was available and never upgraded, so not sure why I would have it. I did what you suggested and downloaded the update again and restarted the Mac and now I get this error report.... Thank you for helping, though!

Why did Windows updates remove Adobe Acrobat?
This has now happened twice. I think the last time I did some kind of restore back to a prior state but this time I'm going to re-install Acrobat I guess... but why is this happening? Now whenever I open a PDF, it opens in Adobe Reader and I can't do all the cool things Acrobat does... ugh.
Hi amanda,
Windows updates are not known to cause uninstallation of Acrobat.
Please check the 'Control Panel' > 'Programs' to see if Acrobat is istill listed or not.
If Yes, select 'Acrobat' click on 'Change' to repair Acrobat.
Regards,
Rave
