Why did Lep make Keynote et. al. my default programs?

90% of the work stuff I do in on Office. Why did the Leopard upgrade switch every thing to Keynote, ect, that I do not even own?
How do I turn that off?? It is a serious pain in the butt!

CTRL+click on the file you want to use and select open with then choose the application, then if you open the preferences of the application you want to use you should be able to set it to the default

I did this update just the way I've always done updates and had exactly the same problems: none. Unless you tell us what difficulties you had/are having, we can't really comment knowledgeably.

Why did Apple make iTunes 7 look like a Windows XP App.? This version of iTunes doesn't even look like it belongs in OSX. It's ugly is about the only way I can put it. I can't figgure out why they removed the EQ icon and didn't even assign a key command for it. Now yoy have to go into the menu to select it. Also I have noticed that it sometimes downloads the wrong artwork for album covers. The old version of iTunes seemed much better and I have reverted back to it untill Apple fixes the problems with version 7 and makes it look like part of the OSX family of applications.

Well I wouldn't say it was ugly but some changes do leave something to be desired.
I certainly aggree about the equaliser button and the visualiser button has gone too but at least they assigned a key command for it. The scrollbars need more colour and I'd prefer the buttons at the bottom to stand out a bit more like the ones at the top.
I see no reason to go back to iT6 though, especially as I would misss Cover Flow. You could have a long wait for a change of interface and in the meantime you miss out on the good parts of iT7. If your track information is correct and identical to that on the Store then it shouldn't get the wrong artwork. Luckily I already had most of my album covers in place from other sources such as Amazon and just used iTunes to get a few more. My only complaint about the Get Album Artwork feature is that it's getting it from the US store when I want it from the UK store.
Anyway these forums are really here to enable users to help each other solve problems and not to discuss Apple's decisions. If there are things you want changing then do what I and others do and send constructive criticisms and requests via the link below, if you haven't already.

Hey guys,
Just got my new MBP, and I need to know how to make Excel, Word, Powerpoint the default programs when opening one of their files? Currently, the trial version of Iwork opens the programs which drives me crazy.....
So, for example, for an Excel file, I want Excel to open it, NOT Numbers......etc....

Select a file of that type in the Finder, choose Get Info from the File menu, change the Open With entry for it to the desired application, click on Change All, and confirm the action.

Why did Apple make the new iPod unable to use Griffin iTalk or iTrip?

I was so disappointed when I upgraded to the new 5th gen. iPod and was unable to use the accessories I purchased for my previous iPod. Am I missing something? What am I supposed to do? Is there an attachment that will make them usable? Why would Apple make a new iPod that wouldn't include the same connector?

If I was to mark it I would say the reply was very condescending and thus worthy of a 1 out of 10 as far as a reply goes. Why did BT make such a fuss?

The internet seems to be exactly the same speed after the infinity upgrade.
Mrs P's encounters with webmail are so protracted it feels as if it would be quicker to use those red boxes on street corners.
We're now more than a fortnight in. I'm glad I didn't sign up to pay more, although I expect BT will soon find a reason to make me do that.

Why did apple make me shut off find my iphone when i ordered a replacement iphone

I called 1800myiphone to get a replacement phone yesterday. When they told me they would send me a replacement the first thing the girl had me do was shut off find my iphone. Anyone know why?

That is required so that the Activation Lock is disabled.
As long as Find My iPhone is actived the only way anyone can do anything with it is by first entering your Apple ID and password. Otherwise all it is a brick.

My IPod touch 3rd gen. 8GB doesn't have any of the capabilities a "3rd gen." has. If I would have known this I might have purchased a 16 GB or 32 GB instead. Why did apple make such a product? Can I do something about this?

That's because it's not actually a 3G iPod Touch. It's a 2G unit. Apple never sold 3G 8 GB iPod Touches, but some third party resellers erronenously reffered to them as so.

It is not intended for the iPad. It would be somewhat cumbersome to have to use your iPad at a kiosk or a movie theater to print a boarding ticket.
The app was designed to be used on the iPhone and the iPod Touch.

really struggling with itunes since I signed on to "match" and "Icloud" All of a sudden I have dupes of every song on my windows laptop, one with a cloud with slash throug it, and one without. Now my laptop seems to have twice the memory takne up andtwice the number of songs in intunes, and my normaly "almost full" ipod is maxed out of memory, and can't sync anymore becaouse of all the duplicate songs. Sometimes things have inconsistent labeling. Check your Recently Added playlist.

Why did Windows 7 make the 100MB "System Reserved" partition on my second hard drive instead of the hard drive windows was being installed on?

I have a Dell laptop with two physical hard drives. When I installed Windows 7, I deleted all the partitions on both physical disks. I installed windows and left the second disk unallocated. So why did the installer decide to place the 100MB System Reserved partition on the disk that wasn't being used?

I found the solution to the problem I described above. Here was the approach to resolve.
Install SATA Y-Power cable jumper on one of the SATA connectors. This gives me capability to power 3 SATA SSD drives
Install the third drive.
Start Windows and initialize the new drive. Now I have 3 drives.
Clone Drive C (Drive 0) to the new (third) Hard Drive (call it Drive 2). I used Acronis True Image Home.
Remove Hard Drives 0 and 1
- the current drives required to boot Windows and that have my Images and data
Install the Cloned Drive as Drive 0 and restart
Windows should prompt me (hopefully) to repair this drive after the boot error.
Run Startup Repair on this drive (drive 2) by loading the Windows Media CD and selecting the only drive installed (Drive 2)
If successful, I would have created a Drive that can boot on its own and has my image and data. If unsuccessful, I put back in Drives 0 and 1 and I am back up and running. I this is a zero risk approach.
Here are the results:

I got the power jumper cable in and executed the steps below. The below procedure worked flawlessly. The loading of the Windows CD took me to a Repair option that sensed a problem with Startup. If failed
to see the Windows installation on the Cloned drive (now drive 0). This was expected. It asked me if I wanted to fix it. I said yes. The system restarted and there was another boot error. I loaded the Windows CD again. This time it saw the Windows 7 Installation
and told me there were Startup problems that needed to be fixed. I said yes again. The system restarted and Windows came right up!
So now I can boot from one drive. I am going to run like this for a couple of days just to be sure. Then I am going to reconnect the other two drives as drives 1 and 2 and figure a way to use them effectively.
