I went to buy the new iPod touch only to find out that I have to have the newest operating system. I own an iMac G5 and powerbook G4, with no reason to upgrade. I don't use iLife except for iTunes. The newest iTunes will work on all my computers, but not the iPod. Also, if I owned a piece of crap windows I could use the iPod on XP, an operating system older than my iMac. So, is Macintosh saying they aren't as good as Windows? I mean, this is real cheap, there is no reason they couldn't have made the new product run on MAC. Are there any plug-ins for me? Why pull a cheap move? Why punch old and loyal users below the belt?

WEll you have an imac g5 your operating system says 10.4.1 or is tyhat just for looks? I am running 10..4.10 that is the same software version as yours. Go to the software update and update your software. You dont need ilife to use the new ipod. Itunes is a free update so update that. THe imac should already have the proper USB2.0 connectors. Besides your post being vague on what exactly your computer lacks please provide more info. If its cause your running OS 10.3 well then yeah you do need to upgrade software so does the people that want the ipod touch but they run windows 2000 and an old itunes software. ITs not a low blow, Apple just like windows would expect their users to upgrade the software operating system. In fact Windows just extended the sale of xp because not many people are buying Vista ...hmmmm i wonder why????
So if its the operating system then yeah you need to buy a new one but i would wait till leopard comes out. I own a PB G4 with the latest software and guess what i am using the newest ipod touch. So t cant be the hardware but the software.So upgrade the software to fallinto the minum specs as noted below..

THe only concern you have on those specs is software and itunes is free, and the PB alrady has USB 2.0 in fact it has USB 2.0 + EDR if i remember correctly.

For Snow Leopard you require version 2.1.4. However AFAIK you can't buy this from Apple any more: the current version requires Lion 10.7.5 at minimum.
Amazon are offering v.2.1.1 in the UK - this is not compatible with Snow Leopard either but you should be able to apply an upgrade to 2.1.4. -

Your only other alternative is to upgrade your Mac to Lion 10.7.5 if it us compatible, and buy the current version.
The requirements for Lion are:

Can you explain why an rMBP which I've just bought switched off without warning?
Here's my story in details:
Proof that it’s new, how it all happened and my theories why it could happen.
This is the paragraph which proves that the item was brand new:
I got an rMBP delivered from a well-known shop-chain. I carefully examined it. It hasn't been unsealed in any way. I opened the so-called transportation box. Unsealed the Apple box. Cloth inside, scent, MagSafe sealed.
Now this is what I did to the MBP:
Pushed the power button. No reaction. Connected the MagSafe. Amber light. Now again a fact in favour that the MacBook hasn't been used: It asked for initial settings: the language, region, name, password and so on. Inserted a a USB flash card to Identified the computer with some progs. As a prog didn’t unzip, I plugged in a USB Modem and entered Safari.
The MBP shut down. I touched the keys, reconnected the cord.
And this is what I can offer as explanation:
My guess 1 is: the MBP couldn’t work together with my USB flash card. It’s well-known MBPs don’t tolerate third-party peripherals. my USB flash card is produced by a respected firm, but it’s about 9 years old.
My second explanation is the mac didn’t like my MagSafe. I used a combination of the MagSafe from the freshest kit and the extending cord from my previous MBP which is 2008.
And the weakest excuse is the battery was so low that even plugging in couldn’t help. But I’ve never experienced that before.
The reason why I purchased this new device is the same problem which I’ve just described above: it also switches off.
Specs: APPLE MacBook Pro 13 ME864RU/A
(Intel Core i5-4258U 2.4 GHz/4096Mb/128Gb/Intel Iris
The date of production: Febr. 2014.

Thank you that you let me understand how to sign with my name!
I can't believe those are my mistakes. These are two reasons why: 1) Experience reminds me, notebooks of all manufacturers can work even without batteries, and you, as Lvl 7, remember that no matter how uncharged the accumulator of an old MBP is, the device begins working as soon as you've plugged in the adaptor.
2) The cord was standard. Old, but made by Apple. And it did work. Provided the poor Mac with power. The older extending part had successfully worked together with the thin cord of a new MagSafe kit I'd recently bought as well as with a couple of previous ones.
. "You used a bunch of stuff that did not come with it. " And what bunch, Barry? One part of the cord only? Maybe you also mean the two usb cards! Then I can say they've never switched down any notebook. As for the first item (the modem), I've been using it for several years and had used a couple of its predecessors since 2008. And neither the second USB, the flash storage card, could cause a switch down too. I did have issues with one usb device, a no-name card-reader, but I couldn't notice failures caused by the two USBs that I've mentioned above.
The delivery man isn't familiar to Macbooks, but at least he had worked for the company for a long time, and he said that the device died and it was he who offered to take it back.
Yet, I might admit your answer is right. Cause the forum has taught me that any supernatural theory which comes to my mind as explanation to yet another problem occuring to my old MBP is, in fact, reality which has already been described by the forum users:-)
So, have new Macs really become so tender and do I have to ask this very Macbook back?

Why did Mac delete camera memory card?

We used a card reader that had been used on a PC, and a camera memory card that had been used on a PC. A pro master GB compact flash. The photos were put on iPhoto. When the card was put into a reader on a PC after that, it refused to let us see the photos. Now back on the Mac, it says the card is not recognizable.
Why does Mac refuse to allow you to use things on a PC? How do we get the photos back and in the future how do we avoid this?

I just thought I would let you know that I followed your link and the second video where the guy cuts a piece of card and inserts it into the slot worked for me at only the second attempt. This retrieved the HD Card after it was completely lodged in the CD Drive and invisible.

What happened is for some reason OS X isn't booting, so it booted into Recovery (either Recovery HD partition or Internet Recovery if you saw a globe thingy)
So you use Disk Utility to repair/permissions on the Macintosh HD partition. Do not use it to Erase the Macintosh HD partition, that WILL erase your files.
The firmware might have just gotten the wrong partiiton to boot from messed up, hold the option key down ona wired or built in keyboard while booting the computer, see if you can boot the Macintosh HD partition with OS X, then set Startup Disk in System Preferences to remind the firmware which correct partition it's supposed to boot from.
Run through these list of fixes, or take your machine to someone who can.

Apple doesn't do data recovery, they will wipe your drive and blame you for not making a backup of your files, but a local PC/Mac repair shop can do data recovery before they wipe and intstall or fix your machine.

I would really like to know from our Cisco colleagues, why there is no MAC info printed on the outside. MX700 or 800. Interestingly, the SX10 has it.
If you would like to provision on a UCM in advance, this kind of info is very helpful and especially if you ship it directly.
It would save time and errors.

While it doesn't answer your question as to why it's not written on the box (although I don't have any 700s of 800s to check) - a possible work around for your situation is to retrieve the MAC address for the device from the http://www.cisco.com/go/licence web site using the serial number. Do a "Get Other Licences", "Tandberg Licences to Resend", pop in the serial number and it'll bring up all the licencing details of the endpoint - one of the things listed is the MAC Address.

Why did I get an email from the fraud dept saying my order is on hold, told to call a number, and then told by dept it's not true?

I placed an order to upgrade my phone yesterday, and the order went through, I was told the new phone would arrive Thursday. After I got home from work today I saw an email from Verizon that says "Dear Customer:
Verizon Fraud Prevention Team is currently reviewing the following order on your wireless account. Please call the Verizon Fraud Prevention Team at 888-483-7200 option 3, press 1 to verify this Order."
I called this number immediately, since I need this phone ASAP, assuming it would just be a recording and I would have to verify an account number or something. But instead, after following the instructions, I was put on hold because I needed to speak to someone in person. After several instances of my call being cut off after being on hold for at least half an hour, I finally got through after three hours and was able to speak to a fraud representative. I gave her my info and told her the problem and she told me I had called the wrong department. Instead of the fraud department, I needed the online order department. She transferred me, and I waited on hold again. When the representative from the online order dept picked up, she first told me if it was a fraud issue I'd need to speak with the fraud dept - who had JUST transferred me to her. After this, she said that my order is not on hold, because it hasn't even been processed yet or had the credit check done. When I asked if this meant I hadn't needed to call at all, she said yes. Is this actually true or is there a chance that there's an issue with my order I don't know about? If there is no issue, these emails really shouldn't be sent out, they're incredibly misleading, and I've wasted a whole lot of time and experienced an incredible amount of anxiety for no reason.

Please log back in and change your preference to start receiving your bill. Please note it can take a bill cycle before you start receiving a paper bill depending on when you process the request. Why did bounding boxes go away in the latest version of illustrator?

I just installed the latest version of AI after my machine died and for some reason I no longer have a bounding box when selecting a single shape with the selection tool. When selecting multiple shapes I do get a bounding box but not for single objects. Can anyone help me turn the bounding box feature back on or possibly revert to an older version? PLEASE HELP!!!!

I am afraid you have come across the Live Rectangle bug which is limited to the MAC versions starting with 10.7 and 10.8, but not 10.9 (Mavericks).
So a switch to Mavericks with a reinstallation might be the way to solve it here and now.
To get round it in each case, it is possible to Expand the Live Rectangles to get normal old fashioned rectangles, or to Pathfinder>Unite, or to use the Scale Tool.
A more permanent way round that is to create normal old fashioned rectangles, after running the free script created by Pawel, see this thread with download link:

Now again upon just searching on the iPhone 4s with the app Itunes, with the keywords Act of Valor, top results show on display Action & Adventure Act of Valor Movie and Keith Urban, For You Act of Valor $ 1.29.
Now right below with Albums, Various Artists, Act of Valor I selected it displays 1 For You "Downloaded"
Pretty screwed up if you ask me!!
