Why did Migration Asst. not delete the previous admin and info?

So I used Migration Assistant to transfer all of my info over to my Macbook Pro. I thought the old Admin would be deleted and I would be the only one, but the old Admin is still the main Admin on there. Also I noticed the addressbook has his info (address,email,etc.). Is there a way to delete the Main Admin? Or do I have to do a clean install of Snow Leopard again and transfer my info from my other Macbook to this after I do that? Any help would be appreciated.

Or do I have to do a clean install of Snow Leopard again and transfer my info from my other Macbook to this after I do that?
Yes, that would be best. First have a read of the following article which shows how to go about it.

  • Can i delete the Previous request and create the new request for loading

    Dear Experts,
I use 0FIGL_V40.Cube in my system. These Cube does not contain delta capability.i mean for every time i wil load Full only.
Here my question is  the first day  load full load, and second day i want to load the data. But can i delete the previous request and load the data with new request.
    Please guide me .
    Regards,
    Srinivasan.

    Hi Srinivasan,
I hope the DS itself is not Delta enabled. If so i think you can delete the contents of PSA. This step can be added in the Process chain before actually loading the FULL IP to DS. Then you can include a step to "Delete Entire data from DataTarget" step in the process chain before actually loading the DTP(Can be Delta/FULL. I dont think there is any impact here since both will bring only one request from DS to DataTarget since PSA will have only one request) from DS to Cube.
    Hope it helps!

  • Delete the previous administrator and make a user account for myself on my iMac G4

delete the previous administrator and make a user account for myself on my iMac G4

Open the Accounts pane of System Preferences, create the new account, log in with it, and delete the existing one. If the computer's one you've recently purchased, you may want to erase the drive and install a new OS; do this only if you have the computer's original disks or a retail package compatible with it.

    1. Remove the headphone.
If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.

  • HT201441 I can not find the previous owner and ask them the Apple ID!

what van I do if can not find the previous owner???

If you have bought a second-hand iPhone and the previous owner has locked it, only he can unlock it as indicated in the Help page you came here from. If you cannot contact him you will be unable to use the phone; there is no way round this.

  • Why did my TB not do the auto-compact thing?

    I'm just wondering...
My ThunderBird install has this default setting of "compress folders if it saves more than 20 MB in total".
And I have the Dutch language translation installed (don't know how to change it to English....) but as with many software translations, it uses some bad terms which confuses people.
I believe in English TB uses the word "compact" but in Dutch it says "comprimeren" which always only refers to compression in the sense of ZIP/RAR/GZIP etcetera. Because of that I have never manually chosen to "comprimeren" because I didn't understand what it meant.
I believe from time to time TB has asked me whether I wanted to do that thing, and I still didn't know what it was supposed to do, so I never chose to.
In the end, today, I made a backup of my entire IMAP remote collection and it turned out to be only a meagre ~500 MB whereas the data for Thunderbird itself (full offline sync) took up 1.2 GB.
And then I finally chose to "compress" and now the backup and the actual Thunderbird folders/files are identical in size, save for the TB index.
And that means I have had about 600 MB of deleted messages still sitting in my INBOX.
There is another option that translated to something like "Clean up your Inbox (expunge) when closing?" and I have no clue what it is supposed to do and there is also no tooltip or anything. Does it refer to the compact action? Does it refer to moving deleted (now invisible) messages to Trash? I have no idea and when I open my folders in another client (Alpine) it actually shows these "deleted" flags on those messages that I have supposedly "deleted" from Inbox (and that have already been copied to the trash folder). I suppose that's what expunge means - to get rid of those messages.
Alpine however is much more consistent, but now I have this (nonproblematic) feature:
I have a filter in Alpine set up to also move 'expunged' messages to Trash upon expunging them. Otherwise Alpine would just delete everything with no fallback. It would be gone = gone.
So if I delete a bunch in Thunderbird, and then open and exit Alpine, all of those deleted messages are now featured twice in the Trash, once copied there by TB, and once copied there by Alpine :p.
I don't know what the actual point is of keeping "deleted" messages in any folder if you have already visually indicated they are gone and they have been moved elsewhere. Is there some sort of "undo" mechanism involved? There is no action anywhere in TB that *I* can see that would benefit from something like this?
For Alpine, the "D" (delete) action only flags messages. Then, upon exit they are usually expunged. With my custom filter, they are expunged and saved to Trash. But TB instantly deletes and moves them, which is fine by me, but I don't understand why it doesn't clean up behind itself.
Is there any use case where NOT expunging these 'flagged' messages has benefits, in terms of Thunderbird?
And I have heard people talk about auto-compacting, but why did such a thing never happen?

re: TB marks messages for deleted both in its offline copy and in the IMAP proper,
Any changes such as deleting a message, will mark that email as deleted.
In thunderbird this will move the email from the Inbox view (''Note this will depend on the deleting method - see below'') and place it in Trash, but in reality it is still in the Inbox folder just 'marked as deleted'.
As the Server folders and TB folders are looking at the same folders, this will show up on the server as 'marked as deleted'.
Thats because they are one and the same folders.
In Thunderbird, you can select to manually Compact all Folders:
    File > compact folders.
This compacts all folders, removing all 'marked as deleted' emails in Thunderbird..
when synchronised folders connect with server, those emails are deleted off the server.
You can also choose to manually compact any single folder.
right click on folder and select 'compact'.
There is also an auto compaction function which is initialised when the selected threshhold has been reached.
    This is set up here:
Tools > Options > Advanced > Network & Disc Space tab
select the checkbox 'Compact all folders when it will save over eg: 20MB in total.
    click on OK.
Note if you have been manually compacting or expunging the Inbox on exit then this may not get triggered as often or at all if the threshold is not reached.
IMAP mail accounts also have the additional option to Expunge emails on the Inbox on Exiting Thunderbird..
"Tools -> Account Settings -> Server Settings -> Clean up ("Expunge") Inbox on Exit', which will compact the Inbox folder when you exit Thunderbird.
note this only occurs on the Inbox.
If you check "Empty Trash on Exit" it will also empty and compact the Trash folder when you exit.
However, some methods of deleting in IMAP mail accounts can disable this auto expunge. see below.
'''IMAP mail accounts also have different choices when it comes to deleting.'''
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Deleting_messages_in_IMAP_accounts
Tools -> Account Settings -> Server Settings for the mail account
"When I delete a message" has choices for "Move it to the Trash folder", "Mark it as deleted" and "Remove it immediately".
Your choice of method of deleting may explain why you are not always seeing auto expunging.
suggest you try option: "Move it to the Trash folder".
Otherwise you will need to use the folder 'compact' options explained above to compact the folder.

  • Firefox will not open more than one window and upon restarting will not open the previous tab and refuses to open bookmarks

Firefox does not open more than one window. I can open plenty of tabs, but not more than one window. Upon closing firefox and trying to restart the browser will not open and needs to be closed through windows task manager. Upon trying to re-open Firefox I receive the 'oops this is embarassing , firefox cannot re-open your tabs" message. When I click on "new session" the bookmarks do not load. It is becoming very frustrating as I am a student and often do lots of research on the web while using lots of open windows.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    * [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • How do i reset an i phone i have brought  that has an i cloud account .. I do not know the  previous owner and have no way of contacting them

Can anyone help  I brought an i phone  4 for my grandson , for as suprise , however when i opened the phone i found it has an i cloud account blocking it . i do not know who this person is or  how or where to contact them  and therfore the phone is useless ,unless i can unlock remove the account  how can tyhis be done please .

You have encountered Activation Lock which cannot be bypassed without the proper credentials.
If you bought the device new take it back as it is not a new device. If you bought the device used from a store take it back to the store as you cannot use the device. If you bought the device from an individual you probably got scammed and have purchased a stolen device in which case your device is worthless and cannot be used. Not good news I am afraid.

  • Cluster Live Storage Migration completes without deleting the source virtual hard disk VHDX

Testing HV setup in a cluster of two nodes with shared FC storage.  Storage is CSV on both nodes.  Storage migration of a VM from C:\ClusterStorage\A to C:\ClusterStorage\B completes without any problem.  Upon completion, the source VHDX
are still left at C:\ClusterStorage\A.  The source files can be deleted manually.  All is done through VMM "Migrate Storage" option.  Why the storage migration does not delete the source files upon job completion?  Thanks!

I have noticed this happens when the folders are "pre-staged". If I create a folder and then storage migrate all of the files into it then it will not delete from it. If I just put the files in the root of the CSV then it seems to work. I am
looking into the permissions of the system and seeing what changes on a folder when it is created by a user and not the system. This only appears to happen when I am doing some cleanup because of duplicate machine name subfolders recently that a tech created.
If you match the permissions to a system created VM it should work though.

  • Will I loose apps (excel, word,etc...)when I delete the orig admin. on a used Mac pro

I purchased a used mac book pro late 2009 model and wanted to know if I will delete the applications(excel,word,etc...) if and when I delete the original administrator.  I was able to create a new administrator ID, so I want to delete the previous admin.   Also what else would you reccommend  in setting up the Mac book to get the old owner info off the system, is there a way/ how do i change the system password, etc...? Obviously I am new to macs, any and all info would be great!  Thanks for the help!!!

Did the seller give you the License keys and the DVD disc, or discs, to re-install and re-activate those MS Office programs? If not then you should delete them as they are not yours and he sold you pirated software.
Also if that 2009 Mac came with Mac OS X Lion installed when you got it that is another piece of pirated software and you will have no way of Reinstalling that version of OS X without the sellers Apple ID and Password.
Also did he supply the Original System Discs, which there should be 2, with the system? If not you will need to contact Apple and get a Set of Replacement Discs for that system for a fee of around $40. Then wipe the drive, reinstall the version of OS X that originally came with that system. Then get whatever discs or downloads are needed to upgrade that system to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and then buy Lion or Mt Lion from the Mac App store using your own Apple ID.
Or you could just return it to the person that sold it to you and get your money back.
    Caveat Emptor.

My iPhoto Library (version 8.1.2) is 280GB (greater than 50% of my 500GB total storage memory on my iMac.  It was too large for me to drag it to a new hard drive so the Apple geniuses did it for me.  However they did not delete the Library from my iMac (that's my responsibility).  I dragged it to Trash and when it started to move I clicked over to the new hard drive to confirm it had indeed been copied.  I became nervous when I didn't see among the few files on this otherwise empty new hard drive anything that resembled a 280GB Library so I cancelled the migration to trash.
How can I be sure that my iphoto has been copied and that all my "metadata" survived in tact?

    the new backup drive
I thought the new drive would be your data drive to host the iPhoto library. Do you also use it for TimeMachine backups?
I am unable to search either in email as well as Finder.  I AM able to search within iPhoto though, thankfully
Spotlight may still be busy rebuildig its index.
You could try to rebuild the Spotlight Index, if you do see no progress:

I hope, other frequent posters will drop in. I have not used iPhoto 8.x in long time.

I'm an applications developer and also run a part-time videography business. As such, I require more than 3.12GB of RAM. That is the physical limitation of a 32bit system. Pointless to stay on 32bit if you plan on having more than that much RAM.
I'm also not about to pay someone to fix my PC when I can do it myself. I was originally hoping for someone who had experienced the problem before to point me in the right direction so I didn't have to spend so much time trying to figure out what the issue was for myself.
Basically, in the end the problem was caused because right at the point in time when I chose to uninstall, and reinstall; Apple released a new version of iTunes. This version in turn had a requirement of iOS 4.2 to sync with the iPhone. This is a pretty embarrassing for Apple that they would release software reliant on other software before said software was released.
Had I realised I was downloading a newer version at the initial point of installation, this wouldn't have been an issue. I could've easily have rolled back iTunes to the previous version and gotten on with my life.
Another issue is that iTunes is not actually a 64 bit application. It masquerades as one to allow installation on the 64 bit platform.
