Why did my audio sync up better in iMovie than FCP?

Hi,
I started on a project in iMovie HD, then realized that FCP is probably the better way to go (ability to crop clips and maintain corresponding audio).
But in FCP, the audio is out of sync, and I can get it only to within 1 frame, while in iMovie everything synced up fine. Same aiff file.
So... is there a way in iMovie HD to crop a clip with audio that is already locked to the playhead, and have the audio crop along with the video, or do I have to manually crop the audio and re-sync it with the video? Eventually on the dvd, I want to have short (3-5 minute) samples of the clips play first, then the full versions of the clips, and I don't want to spend hours re-syncing the audio with the short clips.

This I can have a suggestion about.
FinalCut - When You start a new project You set the properties for it.
And here You select frame rate (PAL = 25 and NTSC = 29.97 (30))
AND Audio - as 32kHz or 44.1kHz or 48kHz
See in what quality Your Camera is recording - Should be 16-bit 48kHz but most often
set from factory to 12-bit 32kHz.
So you need to match project setting to what material You are using - else out of sync. drift.

Why is the audio on my finalized project louder than the when I watch it on the editing screen? The background music doesn't turn down when I watch the final product and I cannot hear the clip, but on the small/edit screen it works perfectly.

Have you already exported it and is it there where it messes up? If you are just clicking the button that makes the video full-screen in iMovie, that's your problem. For some reason, many people have movie glitches when they do that, like the video pausing for no reason, loss of sound, and other glitches. Just export it and it will most likely work.

I've tried technical support, I've tried looking online but nothing seems to have helped, so here's the problem:
I have a video/movie, that is around 58 minutes long, I share it to iDVD and the other media formats from iMovie. The vid has music, transitions, titles, credits, etc... It plays fine in iMovie while I am editing it. The problem comes when I try to export it to another media format and to iDVD.
There's a section that has major audio sync issues that I have no idea how to even begin to fix. There is audio and music from the 55 minute mark that plays over the 27 minute mark for a good 3 minutes of video and audio.
I've tried some of the suggestions I've come across but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have anything that they can offer this very frustrated guy? Please and thank you in advance.

I don't shoot 12 bit audio (ever) so I'm not an expert on fixing it or converting it back to 16 bit audio. I can only report what others on this forum claim to have worked (in some cases with marginal success).
The ones that comes to mind are:
1. video and audio extraction in an attempt to re sync.
2. exporting back to the camera from iMovie and then re-importing as 16 bit.

AVCHD looks better in iMovie then FCP, How come?

When importing 8 min of AVCHD footage from my Sony TG1 to iMovie it takes about 8.5 min, and when importing it to FCP 7 (in AIC like iMovie does) it takes about 6.5 /min, but the result looks worst (i.e. every horizontal line looks broken), does anyone know why?
I Know that FCP AIC footage have more details in it and will be closer to the original AVCHD, but the "lass quality" in iMovie looks much better.
The only way that i could make the footage in FCP 7 look better is by converting it to DV or putting the de-interlace filter. both ways takes about another 10 min to render.
Does anyone know away to get the same results like iMovie in FCP but keeping the 8 min process?
Does can recommend a good and fast MTS to DV converter?

iMovie de-interlace on the fly when you watch it. when I bring the MOV file from iMovie to FCP, it looks the same as the one that already in FCP.
My destination is a standard definition DVD, and as quick as possible. I found that at the moment the quickest way to burn the final edited project is by using a stand-alone DVD recorder. That's why i thought plugging the computer to the DVD recorder with the display-out, will do the job.
I'm working with fast moving object in the footage so i don't think de-interlacing is the answer for me.
So, Is my only answer to make my AVCHD looks good on a SD DVD is by converting it to DV format?

Why did my audio & video lines change colors?

I was working in a sequence when suddenly all my lines changed colors on me. The audio and video lines are the exact same shade of blue and its very disorienting. Even after I alter an audio clip in Audition the colors don't change. I've tried quitting, restarting my mac, opening older projects... I can't get the original colored lines back. Is this some new software update? How do I get the different colored lines back?

Okay let me rephrase. The color change is weird but not a major issue. The major issue is that my audio waveforms aren't being displayed anymore.
Even after I expand that audio line theres no waveform... I need to see where my audio is peaking. Any idea whats going on or how to fix?

Why did photostream only sync 50 out of 170 photos to my new iphone?

I purchased a new iphone 4s and turned on photostream. Only 50 of my photos synced to the new device. I've tried plugging my phone in to charge and syncing icloud when connected to wifi and...nothing. I have multiple pictures of my newborn son that I want to keep with me, but they won't sync to my phone.
Any suggestions?

Where are the photos being synced from?
Remember that photo stream only stores photos from a device (with camera, like iphone) after photo stream has been turned on - it won't take on old photos. If the photos are currently on your computer (where copies should be), copy the photos you want to the photo stream album (on a mac, use iphoto). Photo stream only keeps photos for 30 days (a max of 1000 photos).
Additional advice:
You should be importing all pics taken with the iphone to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera. This is covered in the manual.

Why can't I sync my phone with more than one computer to get my music from both computers onto my I phone?

So I sync my phone on one of my computers and I get the music I want from that computer....then I plug my phone into another computer and I try to get more of my music files from that computer. The problem is: I tunes wants to delete all the previous files that I synced up with my other computer. SOOOO I can not get separate music files off different computers. Why not? These are all my music files....Will I have to find a way to consolidate all of my music onto one computer? Or is there some way I can get all of my files onto my I-phone?

Which is precisely why I am frustrated with how proprietary Apple is. No matter how much people try to spout out about the superiority of Apple products, my iPhone should be able to grab music from my laptop and my PC at home, both being authorized already. I've already tried home sharing. I didn't buy the iPhone outright, it was provided to me through work. For all the Apple and Mac only fans, I feel this is Apple's way of trying to make me purchase music I have already bought on CD through iTunes. Whatever happened to ease of use? Customer friendly applications? Anyone else dislike how hard it is to add artwork to an album in iTunes after you load a CD and it doesn't recognize it? Track by track? How about offering one simple, convenient copy and paste to album like in Windows? Oh, yeah, so you give up and buy it again in iTunes. I do like the interface on the iPhone or iPod once things are working properly, however the hoops you jump through are ridiculous. I want to load music off of my laptop, after having most of my library on another PC, and it won't work without deleting the library off of the phone. What is the point of authorizing up to 5 computers if you can't use your music from those different machines? There, I'm getting off of my soap box now.

Why did apple switch to a different design other than the outer band dual antenna design in the iphone5 ?

This is a subject i'm not to familiar with but i do know a little about antenna design.
I was wondering what caused apple to switch to a different design (did they?). What research caused this change ?

Apple did not erase iChat.
Messages in Mountain Lion is iChat +
The plus bit is the fact you can iMessage iOS devices.
All the other features that were in iChat are still there.
If you upgraded Lion to get to Mountain Lion then in System Preferences > Mail, Contacts and Calendars you probably list all the iChat Accounts (Screen Names and IDs).
You may need to enable them for Messages.
They should also show up in Messages Menu > Preference > Accounts
Once those accounts (AIM and Jabber) are Enabled they can be viewed in a Combined Buddy List
Windows Menu > Buddies (Or using CMD + 1 Keystrokes)
In the General Section of the Preferences you can Unlink these Buddy lists.
The Green icons or highlight a Buddy and then using the Buddies Menu or the icons at the Bottom of the Buddy list can be used the same way to start Video or Audio Only chats.
The iMessage "Account" is only for texting iOS devices or other people using their Apple ID on a Mac in Messages.
It is an account "in addition to" rather than "taking over from" the services that iChat can join.

So frustrating that nobody knows why. Audio Sync issue.

I have an imovie project of old family footage that was ported over from VHS through a sony dcr pc120e mini dv cam straight through to intel imac via firewire. The imovie project is flawless and the sound is perfectly in sync. ive exported to idvd and when finished the audio is out of sync on the final disk. Now i have been reading about this issue and see that people blame idvd8 but it happens when i make a dvd with my imovie project using toast titanium 9 too. Surely if it plays perfectly as an imovie project there must be a way of transferring to dvd without audio sync issues. If anyone knows a solution or piece of software that will remedy this please please let me know as i have wasted about 12 dvds in various experiments.

there's one thing, I do suspect, which was a 'source' for sync-weirdness for years.. which is the AUDIO connected to some video.
you told us, video is 25fps, and audio is included 16bit (which is good...)
I assume, adding some NON-conform audio could cause trouble... (as a 12bit audio would cause outofsynciness) .. we do know very little about, how iM08 handles audio+video internally, we 'Silverbacks' had long discussions about really weird side effects as a 'zooming' of dvfiles on export etc. I wouldn't be surprised, if adding some non-iTS, non-48kHz-aiff, non-whatever... causes such an effect.
so, please answer my audio Q from above: source, format, bitrate...?
and just for curiosity: how long is your project in total? hh:min:sec?

Historically speaking, Apple has rarely gone backwards in its OS development. Once they have released a new OS with new technology, I can only think of one example of when they backtracked: They released TrueType technology in System 7 and then released System 6.0.8, which included TrueType technology for continuing System 6 users.

When I updated to ios 5 I was forced to create a new Apple ID. Now my iTunes sync does not work properly. Why did it do this and is there a way to fix it?

I already had an iTunes account when I pushed the iPhone. After upgrading the OS to 5.0.1, I kept receiving an error message saying that my AppleID was invalid, even though it worked perfectly within iTunes on my PC. It seemed to want my email address as my "new" AppleID so I entered that, but it created a second ID. It seems my cloud account and the "phone" iTunes is attached to the newer ID and my "PC" iTunes account is attached to the older ID.
Now, when I try to sync iTunes, I don't see all of the songs I purchased, some sync and others appear to sync but are grayed out with the sync icon next to the title. The songs are still on my phone, but not in my iTunes library.
Is there any way to fix this and consolidate the accounts? Also, why did the upgrade force me to create a new AppleID? I haven't upgraded to the 4 or 5 phone because I'm afraid this is going to happen again and I'll have a third AppleID to contend with.

There is no way to consolidate iTunes accounts.
Setting up an iPhone has never required creation of a new Apple ID.
You've apparently purchased content with both Apple ID's. Sign into the device with the correct Apple ID and sync the content.

I believe now you potentially lose all extensions, plug-ins when you use the new reset function, but you will let me know.
If that is the case, your find corrupt file method maybe better. However, I reviewed the two help articles and there appear to be more files than just the delete search.json file and a possible search.sqlite file in the Firefox Profile Folder. I am confused. Then I have to find the folders. I think help articles mentioned how to find the profile containing the files, but not sure.

Why is the audio on my video getting out of sync when it is imported into itunes?

I have videos in the MP4 Format, and have imported them into itunes. However, during playback in itunes, the audio gets more and more out of sync as the video plays. By the end of the film the audio can be 5-6 seconds out!
What's strange is that the source file, played with quicktime or Windows media player, is fine and works perfectly.
Why is the audio stretched once it is imported?

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA785GPMT-UD2H
Chipset:
North Bridge: AMD 785G
South Bridge: AMD SB710
Video: Integrated ATI Radeon HD 4200
HDMI Audio through the HDMI port out to the TV.
Tried on Windows 7 Pro 32bit and Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit.
Tried with the integrated ALC889A audio device enabled and disabled (It seems that the video card drives the HDMI audio device though, because it still appears in Windows even if I disable the Audio device in BIOS).
Latest iTunes and drivers installed.
I have already tried all sugestions about matching Windows Audio settings to iTunes settings (bit depth, frequency rate).
Apple, any suggestions? I'm not having a great customer experience after buying a pair of HD movies in iTunes.

Because ipod touch will sycn with one computer at a time. Syncing to another wil erase the current content.
