Why did my audio & video lines change colors?

I was working in a sequence when suddenly all my lines changed colors on me. The audio and video lines are the exact same shade of blue and its very disorienting. Even after I alter an audio clip in Audition the colors don't change. I've tried quitting, restarting my mac, opening older projects... I can't get the original colored lines back. Is this some new software update? How do I get the different colored lines back?

Okay let me rephrase. The color change is weird but not a major issue. The major issue is that my audio waveforms aren't being displayed anymore.
Even after I expand that audio line theres no waveform... I need to see where my audio is peaking. Any idea whats going on or how to fix?

I created this short motion graphics project in AE and PR Pro for my hearing protection client in Switzerland for their "Sleep Plugs" product. She asked for a European look and feel, where tasteful nudity is common in advertising. Our target demographic is males, aged 18-35. The client posted it at her Zurich-based company’s website and hoped it would spread virally. We believed there was actually a good chance of that happening since we have three main elements of a viral video: sexiness, surprise, and humor. However, the number of views was much lower than we had hoped.

Please give me your thoughts on these questions:
1. It was my intention to set the viewer up to expect that the couple was going to have sex, then to provide some unexpected humor when she goes to sleep and snores instead. Did you think that was funny?
2. In an ideal world, this would have been live video, but, for budget constraints, and since there would've been very little movement in a video anyway, we went for a graphic approach, basically a pan across a wide, horizontal photo, with music bed and voiceovers, and logo/tagline at the end. Do you think this was an acceptable compromise?
3. With the outtake-style photos at the end, It was my intention to add a touch of silliness and show that we are not taking ourselves too seriously. Do you think that worked?
4. What do you think of the voiceovers?
5. What do you think of the choice of music? (I wish we could have had Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On"! altho, not sure how big that is with 18-35 year old males in Switzerland.)
6. These next two may be the most important questions: the context the video was presented in. My intention was to have the viewer sucked in by the sexy partial image and want to know more, thinking "What is this? . . . a joke? . . . porn?!?" (remember, they are 18-35 yr old males!) and watch it long enough to get to the joke and the appearance of the product. (I know I have watched several videos that turned out to be ads, but they were so entertaining and well done, I did not mind. In fact, I admired how they sucked me in!)
My client posted the link to the video on her company Facebook page, with the comment "Check out our new video." The link led to her company's official website and the video appeared on a page surrounded by other text, photos, and the company's name. It is my opinion that this took away some of the incentive to watch the video, since now the viewer already knows it is going to be an advertisement. Would you agree?
7. I feel the video should've been presented "in a vacuum", so the viewer would have no fore-knowledge of what it was or why their buddy forwarded it to them. I think links to most viral videos lead to YouTube or Vimeo (not to a company website.) What do you think would be the best method of distribution for this little video?
And, if you have any other thoughts, please let me know.

I have to agree with Jim. A still image screams 'cheap'. If I didn't watch the video with the intention of providing feedback, I would have tuned out after about 5 seconds, before even getting to the 'punch line'. With so many bad videos on YouTube, people's attention span have been reduced to mere seconds. If we don't like what we see in the first few seconds, we tune out and click on another link. I imagine many people who watch this video never get to the end since the moment they see it's a still image that probably won't change to live action, they think 'cheap' and tune out.
For a video to go viral, people have to want to pass it on to all of their contacts. For this to happen, they have to imagine that others will thank them for sharing the video, not roll their eyes and ask 'Why are you wasting my time with this?' "sexiness, surprise, and humor" are not enough for a video to go viral. You also need great execution.
3. Didn't work for me. It makes it look like the commercial and product are a joke, especially hearing the guy's laughter in the background. First the commercial would have to sell us on why the product is worthwhile/needed, which is doesn't.
4. The girl's voice is sexy, but it does not match the visuals, thus it ends up sounding fake and unnatural.
The guy's tatoo is a huge distraction. Is it a human heart? Why is it there?
Low budget doesn't have to mean a cheap look. Unfortunately the titles and the transitions (push, ripple dissolve) at the end also scream cheap. Nobody uses these kinds of effects on TV, so it's best to leave these for home videos and out of any professional work. Push transitions can work, but usually only if it's a quick transition, around 3-8 frames long. Slow push transitions scream 'Power Point', which in turn screams 'cheap'.

The problem is that the Add-ons Manager tab when opened the first time, is on "Get Add-ons" section and that must be downloaded from the Add-ons server which might be overburdened.

Why did all of my dashes "-" change to "&ndash" after my client made in browser edits and I accepted

I created a site in Muse. Published out to Business Catalyst and all was good. My client made several hundered edits from the Biz Cat dashboard. They then asked me to make some more substantial edits to the design so when I opened Muse, I accepted the edits they had made. On each page there is a column for Customer quotes. Each quote is signed of with a name.... such as "- Judy Miller." I noticed, after accepting the inbrowser eidts that all dahses before the names now had "&ndash Judy Miller." I tested in preview and sure enough, it was there still. So I then did a preview in browser forcing the page to load through the server and unfortunately the &ndash was still in front of the name. So I opened my browser and pulled up the site to make sure it still had the correct dash and it did as I had not published from Muse since accepting the inbrowser edits.
Why did that happen?
How can I prevent it from happening in the future?
Right now I am stuck in limbo as I can not publish out in fear of populating the site with dash replacements. I can go in and change everyone and then make the changes I was supoosed to make for the client but who is to say it won't happen again and again?
Thanks for any info you can shed on this. I have been on chat support for over an hour now and still have not gotten a hold of a support agent at Adobe. That clearly sucks and they should employ more people to handle the problems when they occur.

You've encountered a bug that has been reported by at least one other user, but one that we haven't been able to reproduce internally. To help us investigate this, could you determine which browser/platform (inlcuding versions) you client had used to make the edits?
Also, if you could send your Muse file to [email protected] (with a link to this forum post), I can look at fixing it, reverting all "&ndash" instances to "–". Sorry for the inconvenience.

Why did Adobe get rid of 'No Color Management' option in CS5

I use this option (in earlier CS verisons) when printing digital negatives on transparency film on my Epson 3880. There are a few work-arounds, including a printer utility from Adobe (which only works on tIff files, so it's limitied).
But why, oh why did they get rid of this option in the first place. Did someone just decide, gee, I don't think that's a feature we want anymore in our program, so, puff, it's gone? I hate it when program 'updates' make my work harder instead of easier.

When I printed to PDF from ACPU after setting up the driver to use Epson Glossy paper on an Epson R3000, the embedded profile in the PDF was SPR3000 Premium Glossy. Which if sent to the printer should result in a null transform. This is similar to the CS5 work around to tag an image with a color space and have that same color space set in Photoshop Manages Color and set the Printer Profile color space to be the same thus bypassing the Colorsync "generic RGB" transform. However, that work around no longer works with Photoshop CS6 (we were warned that this might happen BTW).
I haven't tried it yet, but it's possible that you could still work around this in CS6 if you take an untagged target, assign the printer profile, then use Photoshop Manages Color with the profile being the same printer profile and then in the driver set do not color manage...actually, scratch that–I just tried that and CS6 pops a warning that "No Color Managment is not supported" when trying to print without the proper color management and to get ACPU with a link to download it. I guess Photoshop got pretty serious about disallowing this sort of printing. Heck, you can't even print to PDF.
On the other hand, the simplest solution for me is to simply print out the target using i1Profiler...

GUI lines changing colors

I am creating a GUI where ultimately I would like to have 3 lines painted in a panel first. Then when a play button is hit i would like the lines to start changing colors. However to start it I had decided to have the Thread draw the line (using getGraphics). Right now the line will sometimes draw but will not stay painted until the next line would be painted. It just flashes quickly. Sometimes it wil go through the whole loop of colors and other times it will only flash the first color. When it does flash more than the first color the line is usually only half the length of what it should be. Are there any suggestions of how to fix his problem?!?!

Why did my sign in screen change from black to red?

For no obvious reason (which frustrates me the most out of any computer issue...) my computer sign in screen has changed from back to a pale red color. Though the computer still seems to be working properly *(except a bug change in iPhoto), I want to know if something bad is coming. People usually want to know why something they paid for is changing. Do I need to worry?
* iPhoto has decided to not import my new photos from my card and reader. It got started, and somewhere on the way sat there with nothing to show something was working.... the whirling thing or anything at all. When checking on it, by clicking on "eject" or trying to leave iPhoto, or even turn the computer off, it popped up a message saying to was still importing photos. It stayed like that for a day. I had to force quit but that's not an answer .What's going on? Can I trust importing photos again?

I (and millions of others) updated to iOS 6.1.3 with no problems whatsoever.
What problems do you have? It is possible that some corruption occurred when you were updating your iPhone.

Why wont my audio/video transitions render in media encoder

when im rendering a project from PP in media encoder the audio/video transitions i added to my project dont show up in the rendered version of the video (the affter affects compositions i added show up though) but when i open the project back up in PP there they are. am i just not applying them correctly, or is there an extra step to link them to the clips or something. im still new to the software so you'll probably have to explain this to me in very basic terms. thanks

I don't use Photoshop for video so am having to guess here, but you say H.264 but not what preset you are using. In PremPro there are something like a 100 prest options for H.264 Try something like Vimeo HD 1080p 29.97, but instead of exporting the entire video, drag the markers under the video preview window, to contain just enough to see if it is working. That will save you a heap of time. Can you select VBR 2 pass from the Citrate settings in media encoder? The Vimeo setting of 5Mbs for the target bitrate should easily give you nice transitions, but you can up that if you like, at the expense of file size.

Isight videos keeps changing color tone and temperature

When I try to record a movie with isight, the color temperature keeps changing and flashes from a warmer color to a cooler color. It never stays in one tone. Help!

For system wide problems, the reset suggested there often restores proper iSight functioning.
If the problem is only with the _one app_ that you are now using to record video, reinstalling that app may help.
However, if your iSight's color keeps changing in all Apple apps and in all user accounts you test, you may have a system software issue. You can test whether software will correct your problem by trying the following:
(1) First, use Disk Utility to repair permissions. Then download and apply the COMBO update for the Mac OS version that you use. You do not show which OS X version you use, but you can find it in the list returned by this search:

Repair permissions again IMMEDIATELY after the restart that finishes the installation.
Then test iSight again. (Repeat iSight Troubleshooting suggestions if necessary.)

To test that, reinstall your OS X, update to the latest OS X version you use by using the process in (1) above, and then check again for proper iSight function.

• Which app and version you originally posted about
• Whether your problem is EXACTLY the same in every app and user account you tested

So Why Did You Stand In Line?

All this griping about the $200 price slash on the IPhone...
Price cuts happen all the time. You buy a new car in April and a couple months later the price is slashed $5000 to make room for the new fall models. You have a choice...buy now-drive now or wait for a lower price.
All of us who stood in line on June 29 knew that Apple could come out with an updated newer, cooler IPhone before the holidays or right after the first of the year...but we stood in line (5 hours for me) to be the first for the IPhone. We also speculated on a lower holiday price...but we stood in line anyway.
We stood in line...we drove hundred of miles (I read the posts on this forum)...we wanted to be the first. Was it convenience? Price? Nope...we wanted the coolest most craved piece of technology since Mac I....we wanted the IPhone. And we wanted it NOW!!!
Remember the same thing happened with the IPod...high opening price than a price drop for the holidays...the video version and then the really nicely priced IPod shuffle. Folks, that's business.
I have no regrets. First, my former phone was falling a part so I wouldn't, couldn't wait until the holidays. Next, I love new gadgets and IPhone IS THE GADGET of 2007. Next, the Apple Store made it fun to wait and talking with other Apple enthusiasts made the time go fast. The comments of the folks walking by made me feel proud to be a core Apple person.
And...now that I figured it out...I really enjoy my phone. People still comment on it and want to check it out. And I can easily get the information I need on it. The screen is so much easier to read than any cell phone I've had...and the real web interface is excellent! All and all, I'm happy to have bought it at the $600 price. I'm having great reception with our local ATT and even on Edge...so I'm very happy. Best mobile phone/smartphone I've ever had.
I won't complain to Apple or write a surly note to Steve. A love letter perhaps. I thank heavens that Apple is an exciting company, a company that changes technology not just follows. I'm proud when I can do something on my phone or computer that those Windoze guys cannot.
I'm a loyal Apple customer. I love my Iphone. And I was expecting a holiday season price blip or new version...so I'm satisfied. That "extra" $200 was the price I paid to get an IPhone first, for all the "way cool" comments. Heck, if you didn't get that $200 "thrill" factor for the last couple of months, sorry, you had your chance.

I bought mine and my wife's at an Apple store in Santa Monica, CA five days after they came out. Walked in a bought them. No big deal. They had stacks of them.
I feel so screwed today. Not even an ounce of appreciation from the King of Apple. I was part of the hype machine. Bought a phone sight un seen and beta tested it. I mean what little updates I got were for BUGS! And bug there were/are. All well documented. (how about Yahoo mail not being sent.....)
Anyway, all I get is a stiff arm and and arrogant statement. This is unprecedented. A 33% drop in price in 2 months is mean spirited and a really bad example for the rest of the industry. Apple has always been the leader and groundbreaker with many of their products. Now they've set a new low for every other company to point to. Every company.
For anyone who feels the need to attack my post and tell me to get a grip. I asked them to get a grip on my $400 bucks and give it back to me. I'm not a fool and would never buy a new car. I know about the price depreciation timing on a new car. So now I know about Apple. Trust is gone. Sign of the times.
Unfortunately I see this as a horrible shape of things to come. The $400 I lost is A LOT of money. Shame on them.

Why did my music download location change?

All of my music is stored in D:\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\
When I download new songs now, artist and album folders are being created in D:\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\ which is my iTunes Media folder location in the settings.
My mobile applications are being stored in D:\Music\iTunes\Mobile Applications\
So my question is, why are new music downloads all of a sudden being placed in D:\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\? Did Apple change the location where they are placed? Should I move all of my existing music in that folder?

Why did FF desktop shortcut icons change over to IE icons?

I am running Windows XP. For weeks i have looked for a solution with no luck. I use Firefox and occasionally drag and drop shortcuts to web pages that i want to revisit at a later time. For some reason, the shortcuts no longer carry the Firefox symbol. They all changed to Internet Explorer symbol and also open with Internet Explorer now. Even when browsing with Firefox now, i will drag a shortcut and as soon as i drop it, it changes to IE. Do you have any idea why this happened all of a sudden? Thanks

Thank you cor-el. I have tried what you have suggested, and also tried re-naming another file in the same directory GDFONTCACHE1.DAT which I beleive has a similar function, but none of these combinations will produce an Internet shortcut icon.
