Why did my iPhone cord disassemble so quickly?
In November 2011 I bought a brand new iPhone 4s. I lost my original cord and bought another Apple USB cord from Walmart about 8 months ago. When I got home today I noticed that my cord had many cracks in the rubber that were flaking off. By gently rubbing the rubber, it all came off exposing a metal cord. I tried to tape it using electrical tape when I first noticed the cracks. Is the quality of the Apple accessories going downhill due to mass production? I sure hope not...
This is called "fraying" and unfortunately, it's normal. I'd agree with you somewhat in terms of cord quality going downhill; less plastic used = more cables that can be made for the same $. Get some electrical tape, and you will be fine. Unless, your cable is all exposed wire beyond the 30 pin connector joint.

Did you change your region settings?
If so, change it back to the country you're in.
The reverse has happened to me from Austria to America, now my phone has old messages from austrian numbers but it doesn't show their names anymore because the implied +43 country code is gone. -

Why did my iPhone photos get deleted and can I recover them?
An entire album's worth of photos were deleted and I want to know why and if I can recover them.
I have an iPhone 4S on iOS 6, iTunes 10, PC user. Under "photo albums" I created a new album called "job photos" which I've been moving photos to as needed. Today I took a bunch of picutures at work with my iPhone, and before I got to my computer I moved them over from the "camera roll" to the "job photos" album, then deleted the originals in "camera roll". Everything worked fine until I synced the phone to iTunes.
Up until today I've been syncing a folder on my PC with a bunch of photos to my iPhone. In order to save space on the phone I unchecked the "sync" box to stop syncing those photos. After the phone was done syncing not only was my PC album gone but all the photos in my "job photos" album were gone too. ***?
Why did this happen and is there a way to recover the photos I just lost? My iPhone wasn't backed up so I wouldn't be able to do a backup recovery. Please help.You lost the photos because the actual data is in Camera Roll. When you see pix in albums, it is by virtue of pointers to the actual storage in Camera Roll. Otherwise, you would be using up storage by creating albums. SO, do not delete from Camera Roll until you have copied to your PC.

Hello! Why has my (iPhone only) POP and SMTP settings suddenly changed for one (oddly only one) of my email sub-accounts? -It changed from "incoming.verizon.net" and "outgoing.verizon.net" to pop.verizon.net and smtp.verizon.net, respectively, ALL BY ITSELF!?
For example, I have had two verizon email accounts on my iPhone for some time, each originally set up with the default "incoming.verizon.net" and "outgoing.verizon.net" for receive/sending email. Suddenly, without my changing anything in my settings, my "[account-1]" account would not work via iPhone (yet still worked via desktop PC)- it was not until I completely deleted the "[account-1]" account from my iPhone and recreated it that it would work, HOWEVER, iPhone AUTO-creation process for this POP account settings now picked up "pop.verizon.net" and smtp.verizon.net" instead of the previous standard "incoming.verizon.net" and "outgoing.verizon.net" settings. (Yet "incoming.verizon.net" and "outgoing.verizon.net" is still necessary for all other verizon accounts, as well as for my "[account-1]" on desktop PCs) Has someone, for example, affected (illegally...?) a redirection of my "[account-1]" mail through other servers...? Why did my iPhone 4S just shut off and now it won't turn back on?
Okay, so last night I was using my phone and the battery got to about 8% last time I checked. Then I put it in my pocket and a little while later I tried to turn it on with the home button (because my lock button has somehow gotten jammed into the phone) but nothing happened. It didn't even show the charge battery sign or anything. So I plugged it up, and still nothing has worked. Today, it is still messed up and won't turn on and it's really frustrating me. My mom told me that I don't have insurance on my phone and it has been jailbroken before. Is there anything I can do for it? My 2 year contract with Verizon is up on August 12th. Can I just take it to them and have them look at it and replace it for free?

Specifically:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

Why did my iphone brick while updating
Last night my iPhone 4s received a notice to update, so I accepted. This was completely the wrong thing to do, as my phone is now locked in eternal "plug-in the usb to itunes mode" My first attempt to restore failed. I am now on my second attempt. I saw where this was happening back in September, but this is November and it is still happening. I can not express how aggravated I am, not to mention the productivity I am losing today as my phone sits useless and I have to spend all this time resolving this issue. Is Apple fixing this problem? Do I have to worry about my next upgrade? Why can't I go back to the previous version, which WORKED!

Why did my iphone stop working?
Yesterday, my iPhone ceased to work. It is fully charged. My AT&T bill is paid in full. It can't be turned on via the on-off bar on top. It was working fine and i did not have any problems with it historically. It just stopped working. Any ideas or do I need to take into Apple? Please help.

Why did my iPhone charger turn brown?
So I leave my charger plugged into my wall everyday and charge up the iPad/iPhone every night before bed. I noticed that the end of the cord turned brown, right around and under the pin connector for my iPhone 4S. I'm suspecting that it's not good to leave the charger plugged into the outlet all day? Do I really need to unplug it when not in use?

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
Or make an appointment at an Apple Store to have the phone looked at.
