Why did my movies delet on their own?

i Had movies downloaded. When I turned it the iPad on they were deleted? Why did that happen on its own.

I am sure there is a cache or history plist of contacts somewhere.

Why did iTunes move my archived podcasts to the cloud?

I want my podcasts archived on my computer... which they were. Why did iTUnes move them? They were files on my computer, some of which I paid for and which were not downloaded from iTunes. Now I have to download them again. This "feature" is invasive and blatantly stupid.

No, it was not a lie but the music must be in the iTunes library. It doesn't matter what the source for the music is, though.

I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean. Do you not know how to add music to the iTunes library? It is very easy: pull down File > Add to library. You can add any supported file format to iTunes, not everything has to be purchased from the iTunes Store.

Why did Adobe DC delete ALL files on my SD card?

Well, the only thing that happened with my tablet today was the new Adobe DC was pushed onto it. Now ALL pics, videos, and old PDF files on my SD card have been deleted. It is blank. WOW!!! Thanks....

I found them. But having to access them separately & then "create a local file" for each one has been very counter-productive & counter-intuitive compared with the 'old' version...I guess 'the cloud' has got us with a ring-in-the-nose leading us where it wants...

Why do some portions of text messages get deleted on their own?

You must be 13 years or older. You should set up the IDs for them using your information, since you will be supervising the accounts.

Why did Apple choose O2 as their carrier in the UK????

Why did Apple choose O2 to be the carrier in the UK when their 3G network is truly awful?
I get 1 bar of signal on 3G most of the time
Wouldn't it have been more useful for Apple to sign with 3 as they are the main 3G carrier in the UK?

I am using my Italian, unlocked, iPhone here in UK with Orange. Coverage is mostly OK and orange has got EDGE when 3G is not available.
I have heard funny stories about O2 coverage but that has nothing to do with the iPhone itselfit is just the network.
I found the T-Mobile site very useful where you can punch 3 postcodes where you mostly are and it will tell you what data and voice coverage you have.
O2 has a similar service but I am told by fellow iPhone users that is not reliable.
Not very useful to have unlimited data if you don't have coverage but you can pop into a cafe and they for sure will have Wifi that you can use.

Alarm burried... why did Apple move it?

Alarm in the previous OS was an icon on my iPhone's 'desktop.'
With OS8 it was made less accessible: you got to swipe to get that window up, choose time keeping devices, the first to appear is 'stopwatch;' as if that was more important than the Alarm?
Why did it get buried? Why have to go through so many steps to get to something as important as the device that wakes us up?
Is there a way to move the feature to be more readily available?? Or get an app?

The Clock App is still there, and you can move it wherever you want. All they did was add the Control Center shortcut. Which you can access from pretty much any screen, including you Lock Screen.
Move your Clock app to your dock, so it will be on any Home Screen you're at. That way, from your Home Screen, the steps are:
1. Tap the Clock App.
2. Tap the sub-function of the Clock App you want to use.
If you're on your Lock Screen, you either:
1a. Unlock your screen
1b. Enter your passcode
2. Tap the Clock App.
3. Tap the sub-function of the Clock App you want to use.
OR
1. Swipe up for Control Center
2. Tap on the 'Stopwatch' to open the Clock app an default to the Stopwatch sub function.
3. Tap the sub-function of the Clock App you want to use.
Nothing has been lost. More options have been added. If you don't want to access your Clock app via the Control Center... then don't.

Why does TextEdit & Safari scroll on their own?

Why do TextEdit & now Safari scroll on their own? (That's both Up & Down and Side to-Side. I don't need to use my mouse.) It is so frustrating. [As it scrolled on its-own when I typed this very message, several times.]

My Mac deleted all my pictures in IPhoto without asking me... I do not know what happened, or why it happened. I've had my Macbook Pro for only 1 year.

what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you see in the iPhoto window when iPhoto opens?
what fixes have you tried?
where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

Why did Snow Leopard delete ALL of my leopard time machine backups?

I received my copy of snow leopard on Friday. I verified my time machine backups were functioning and current. At the time my backups went back to April of 2009. I performed the upgrade from leopard (10.5.8) to snow leopard (an actual upgrade not a re-install). There were no issues with the upgrade. Today (one day after the upgrade) I noticed time machine running. When looked at what time
Machine was doing it said it was "deleting backups". After that finished it performed a backup. When I went into time machine after that my backups only go back to yesterday. It appears time machine has wiped out all of my leopard based backups. Are
y leopard based backups still there? This appears to mean I can't rollback to leopard or even get files pre snow leopard. It would have been nice to have confirmation from time machine before it did this....

Time Machine shows the oldest backup is Friday, August 28, 2009. I downloaded Time Machine Buddy widget and it works but froze on me twice. I followed the advice in this article (http://www.macworld.com/article/131534/2008/01/tmeye.html) and used the console utility searching for the backupd process. The system logs only go back to 8-29-09 so maybe the logs got purged. The logs do show however that Time Machine deleted the old backups so it could make a 147gb backup. It did this a couple of times....I'm beginning to think though that it has to do with my updating to ilife 09 as well. I updated to ilife09 on Saturday 8/29/09. I have a 140gb photo library (the downside of owning a nikon d80). Updating iphoto 09 tweaks your photo library several times (initial install, after pulling down latest updates from apple, etc). I have a 750gb internal boot drive and a 750gb external time machine drive. I think that each time iphoto tweak the iphoto library it had to perform a ~150gb backup. This would have quickly canabalized all of my old backups... so bottom line is it's the iphoto upgrade and my large iphoto library and NOT Snow Leopard that caused this issue...oops my bad! A work around would have been to shut off time machine before I upgraded to ilife09... and then not turn it back on until iphoto was settled down with updating the library.

In time machine, I wanted to delete an old Lion backup to make more space for my new Mountain Lion. So within the "Star Wars" interface, I selected a few old backup directories (with the date on them), from year 2012. I had several backups from year 2013 I still wanted to keep... So i used the action button (the icon with the wheel) and asked to delete the selected directories of year 2013... But after waiting about 15 minutes to complete, all the backup including from year 2013 are GONE ! And the automatic backup from the new Mountain Lion started.
How come ?

Maybe. How did you do the upgrade? If you erased and installed, that could explain what seems to have happened, depending on how you put your stuff back. If so, there may be a fix, and you may not have lost the backups.
If you don't put things back in just the way Time Machine expects, it treats the drive as a different one, so does a full backup. And you've got messages for a full backup.
We have seen a few reports that TM occasionally does that even on a normal upgrade "in place" but I'm not sure how accurate they are.
See if the procedure in #E3 of Time Machine - Troubleshooting will display the old backups.
Now i'm reluctant to remove some old backups of my other macbook Snow Leopard's time machine... they are saved on the same HDD that i'm using for the ML.

The widget doesn't "recall" removing anything. It seems to mention the error because of the lack of space, and/or a mounting problem.
No, no space problem. If it deleted backups, each one would be documented, although that might have been done on an earlier backup.

That's Time Machine trying to copy the Recovery HD to the Time Machine drive. Either there isn't one, or it may be damaged.

That's a bogus message; trying to delete something it couldn't find from the work file.

Why did the movie I rented from iTunes freeze and will not download?

I just rented a movie from the iTunes store and downloaded it. The download completed and I began watching the movie. Over an hour and a half into the movie it froze and now says an unknown error occured while downloading (even though no error message displayed before starting the movie) . Why is this? How do I get a refund or have the movie download properly? My connection is great just fyi.

Itunes is only the itunes music and video store. Nothing is stored there.
You need to open the videos app.

Anyone else have their movies deleted from their computer?

Somewhere between now and last week, my computer had suddenly deleted movies I downloaded/transfered to my iTunes. Most of the movies were Digital Copies from purchased Blu-Rays. I searched my entire computer looking for each individual movie, but came with nothing. I tried checking to see if iTunes would let me redownload movies, but movies is the only thing that doesn't seem to be redownloaded. I'm worried; because 26 of my movies have suddenly disappeared from my computer and there's nothing I can do to bring them back. I purchased my MacBook Pro around May and the movies worked just fine ever since. Is there anything anyone can do to help me bring these missing movies back??

Get them from the backup copy on your backup drive.
