Why did photos go black?

Since I converted my Aperture Library into Photos App, for very much of my pictures I see only black squares. Sometimes when I enter in edit mode, the picture itself appears, but it's a very strange behaviour. Where are the pictures? (some are completely missing...)
Has it to do with allowing iCloud to upload my photos? Or with the photostream?
I'm a little desperate, because it seems my pictures have gone... In the Information Windows I can see nevertheless the size of the image, and it corresponds a real picture (not only the thumbnail...).

If I do, it wasn't on purpose. I just checked in System Preferences/Mouse for such an activation and didn't see an option. Might it be under Display?

Photo stream only adds photos taken on your device after turning it on. Earlier photos aren't added. New photos are added when the camera is closed, the device is connected to wifi and it has at least 20% battery life remaining. Both devices also have to be sharing the same iCloud account to receive photos from your photo stream. (If they aren't sharing the same iCloud account you would have to create a shared photo stream album and share this with your other device. Try taking a new photo on one of your devices, close the camera app, then be sure you are connected to wifi. Then see if it streams to your other device (assuming it is signed into the same iCloud account).

Why did Photo in iOS 7 start loading duplicates from my SD card even when instructed not to load them?

On a long trip, I would download the photos from my camera to my iPad in Photo. I have done this for years. In the process, I would tell Photo not to load the duplicates. Since I updated to iOS 7, Photo is now loading duplicates from my SD card ignoring the instructions not to do so. When I took my iPad to the Genius Bar, I was told that this is an iOS 7 problem they have reported. I can find no way to report it through Apple Support. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there any way to stop Photo from downloading the duplicates?

Ho are you bringing the video clips over to your computer? Are you connecting the camera or are you using a card reader? What program are you using to import the video clips?

I personally haven't experiened this specific thing myself, by I have certainly read issues like your quite a few times on the Discussions.
When your iPod resets itself in this kind of case, this happens usually because, while you're playing a video on your iPod, it's not being able to continuouly load and play that video fast enough to actually play the video at a normal speed.
This can be caused by the iPod's battery.
How charged/discharged was your iPod around the time when your iPod reset itself? Try letting your iPod's battery fully die, then let it recharge for a full 3 hours, and see if this ever happens again.
Also, if this ever happens again, have you tried resetting your iPod several times? (holding the "Menu" and middle buttons together for 10 seconds)
Sometimes your iPod resetting itself can also be caused by your iPod's memory being highly used. For example, if you have a 60 GB iPod, and you've used up 54 GB of it already, this can sometimes somehow bog up the iPod, causing it to act strangely.
If this iPod-resetting-itself behavior recurrs, and resetting the iPod several times doesn't help, try restoring your iPod to factory settings -> How to restore your iPod

I believe all MacBooks have used lithium polymer batteries. If you are asking because your battery says "Lithium Ion"... Lithium polymer batteries are a type of lithium ion battery... so technically, they are still lithium ion batteries. The labeling can be a little confusing.

I took photos and they saved in my camera roll. they were there the next morning. I took more pictures and they are all gone. why did they not save and can i get them back ?

Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - Run Option #1, Repair Permissions, followed by Option #4, Rebuild Database, if needed.

Why did my iPhone photos get deleted and can I recover them?

An entire album's worth of photos were deleted and I want to know why and if I can recover them.
I have an iPhone 4S on iOS 6, iTunes 10, PC user. Under "photo albums" I created a new album called "job photos" which I've been moving photos to as needed. Today I took a bunch of picutures at work with my iPhone, and before I got to my computer I moved them over from the "camera roll" to the "job photos" album, then deleted the originals in "camera roll". Everything worked fine until I synced the phone to iTunes.
Up until today I've been syncing a folder on my PC with a bunch of photos to my iPhone. In order to save space on the phone I unchecked the "sync" box to stop syncing those photos. After the phone was done syncing not only was my PC album gone but all the photos in my "job photos" album were gone too. ***?
Why did this happen and is there a way to recover the photos I just lost? My iPhone wasn't backed up so I wouldn't be able to do a backup recovery. Please help.

You lost the photos because the actual data is in Camera Roll. When you see pix in albums, it is by virtue of pointers to the actual storage in Camera Roll. Otherwise, you would be using up storage by creating albums. SO, do not delete from Camera Roll until you have copied to your PC.

Everything works fine, except when I try to edit a photo, it shows as only Black.
I have tried every fix talked about on this forum, and some others - nothing fixes it.

Is it the same for newly created slideshows? Although a long shot give this a try:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Lion and Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE 1: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If the above fails as a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?
If it doesn't then the following my be your next step:
Starting over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
1. Open the library package like this.
2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
3. Drag the subfolders of the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window a few at a time.
This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
Note: your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

Photostream has gone including all photos (875), but the update notes from Apple never said they would go and be deleted.
Camera Roll - I had photos in there from 2012 and quite a few from 2013. They are not there and the only ones start from February 14 unto present.
I have restored using a backup from before updating to iOS 8 but they are not there. Not in collections or anything.
It is frustrating and disappointing. They are in my iPhoto on my Mac but thats not the point.

Is there something special about the file formats? iCloud Photo Library supports:
JPEG, RAW, PNG, GIF, TIFF, and MP4.
And no JPEG must be larger than 16GB.
The photos will not upload, if the original image file is missing. Can you edit or export the photos, that did not upload?
