Why did songs disappear itunes 12

I upgraded to iTunes 12 and a number of albums disappeared. The names of the songs/albums still remain with an exclamation point beside the missing songs, but iTunes can't find them. These are albums that I downloaded from CDs. How do I restore them?

It should be 'on' - if it was 'off' then the app woud be hidden and you wouldn't be able to access the app from your homescreen.
Have you tried closing the Camera app completely and seeing if it works when you re-open it ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Camera 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Camera app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

That depends on how it is configured in the app, PJL. You can set it up to include the trash icon and go directly to Trash. Both my gmail and icloud accounts are set up that way.

Help! Why did everything disappear?

I was changing the fill on a shape I drew on a new layer, when suddenly everything I had done before disappeared and I now have only one layer with one frame. What happened?? And can I get everything back? I had a layer with a static photo, a layer with a symbol and simple motion tween (swoop in from left), and a third layer I was working on. There were 36 frames in the file. Now, Layer 1 (with one frame) has the photo and the shape showing. I've been all over the forums and support looking for a clue. Can anyone help me? Thanks!!

Were you working on the tween inside of an object? It sounds like you have
an object that has 36 frame that's sitting on frame 1 of the timeline. Whe
n you were manipulating your tween, or shape, or whatever on layer 3, you
clicked out of your object and are just looking at your main timeline.
If you deleted the graphic object, you may have deleted the work you did...

I installed this same digitizer in my T|X some weeks ago. Some discussion of my experience may be found in this Usenet posting and subsequent thread.
The stock digitizer in my T|X had always had some significant alignment issues (for which PowerDigi was able to compensate very nicely) and sensitivity which was uneven, but which usually required a heavier touch than I liked.
Eventually, it began to develop a “dead spot” near the upper left. My T|X was under warranty, so I probably ought to have sent it in to Palm to be repaired, but I wasn't willing to be without it for the required amount of time, and I've heard enough reports of other T|X owners getting unsatisfactory results this way. I'd heard enough good reports about the PDAPARTS.COm digitizer, that I decided that the only acceptable way to repair my T|X would be to install one of those.
After however many weeks it has been, I am still very pleased with the results. It continues to work flawlessly; it is much more sensitive, so it doesn't require nearly so heavy a touch, and I very much like the hard feel that it has, compared to the spongier feel of the stock digitizer.
My wife's T|X still has its stock digitizer, and it has so far not shown any of the same problems that mine did, or for which the T|X has become notorious, but the feel is noticeably inferior. She's content with it the way it is, but I think that if I were to ever buy another T|X for myself, I wouldn't wait for the stock digitizer to fail. The PDAPARTS.COM digitizer is simply superior in every imaginable way; and, in my opinion, a T|X with the PDAPARTS.COM digitizer installed is sufficiently superior to one with the stock digitizer (even if it isn't defective) to be very much worth the expense and trouble of installing it.

I love the new version of Grid view but some of the other changes feel like they still need some fine tuning. And I miss cover flow even if I didn't use it that often...
You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
Ctrl+B to turn on the menu bar
Ctrl+S to turn on the sidebar (your device should be listed here as before)
Ctrl+/ to turn on the status bar
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
Should you still feel the need to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and suppporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

In the simplest sense, archiving a file means making a copy that you never change and never discard. You already know how to do that.
iPhoto has built-in archival features, in the sense that it saves all versions of an image that you've modified. As long as you have adequate backups, you don't necessarily have any reason to archive an iPhoto library. If you want to delete images from the working library but still have access to them in case you change your mind, then you do need to archive those images. I don't have a specific suggestion as to how you should do that. You might post a question in the iPhoto forum.

Why did Apple make iTunes 7 look like a Windows XP App.? This version of iTunes doesn't even look like it belongs in OSX. It's ugly is about the only way I can put it. I can't figgure out why they removed the EQ icon and didn't even assign a key command for it. Now yoy have to go into the menu to select it. Also I have noticed that it sometimes downloads the wrong artwork for album covers. The old version of iTunes seemed much better and I have reverted back to it untill Apple fixes the problems with version 7 and makes it look like part of the OSX family of applications.

Well I wouldn't say it was ugly but some changes do leave something to be desired.
I certainly aggree about the equaliser button and the visualiser button has gone too but at least they assigned a key command for it. The scrollbars need more colour and I'd prefer the buttons at the bottom to stand out a bit more like the ones at the top.
I see no reason to go back to iT6 though, especially as I would misss Cover Flow. You could have a long wait for a change of interface and in the meantime you miss out on the good parts of iT7. If your track information is correct and identical to that on the Store then it shouldn't get the wrong artwork. Luckily I already had most of my album covers in place from other sources such as Amazon and just used iTunes to get a few more. My only complaint about the Get Album Artwork feature is that it's getting it from the US store when I want it from the UK store.
Anyway these forums are really here to enable users to help each other solve problems and not to discuss Apple's decisions. If there are things you want changing then do what I and others do and send constructive criticisms and requests via the link below, if you haven't already.

ok, iTunes only allows 5 devices to be authorized per account. Recently I purchased and iPad and now between me and my wife we have 6 devices (2 pcs, 2 iPhones and 2 iPads). Most of our music is DRM free, i.e. we imported it from CDs or bought it off Amazon or some other site and imported it to iTunes. Some of the mp3s were bought from iTunes and in order to play the ones that are DRM protected (about 30 tracks) the device needs to be "authorized" through the iTunes store. Since we have six devices I decided to just let my wife take ownership of the old account and I would create a new account for myself and repurchase the 30 tracks that require "authorization" through the Apple store under my new Apple ID. Yesterday I went through and made a note ( "NOAUTH") in the Comment field of each of the songs that wouldn't play so I could purchase the songs. Today I went to make a list of the songs so I could start the purchase process and all the songs that I had marked as "NOAUTH" are gone!! Did iTunes delete them?

Nobody likes replying to posts like this - if you've searched all your hard drives and the music files are gone, then they're gone.
I assume you looked in the Recycle Bin and did a Win Explorer search instead of just looking in the known folders?
Who knows why this happened! Disasters like this usually convince folks to make regular backups.

Why are songs disappearing?

I am only an occasional iTunes user. It is installed on my Windows PC. Over the years I have bought some albums or downloaded songs from my CDs. I've recently noticed that my albums are still in my library, but some of them have lost songs. In some cases, the song title is there, but iTunes says it can't find the song when I want to play it. I'm not sure why. I have not tried to manipulate the folders or anything. My knowledge of iTunes is very limited, so I just open iTunes, open my library, and select an album or song to listen to.
I would include the software iTunes version number, but I don't know how to find it.
Is there a way to have iTunes build me a new Library and round up all the songs that are on my PC? Also, is there a way to remove duplicate songs if I do this?

I get the exact same behavior. It is maddening. I find if I use the "sources" function, it happens more. I ended up wresting with it via the album view and it seemed better, but much less convenient. I've had this occur on the iPod app on my iPad, as well as on my iPod touch. Editting playlists is very flaky.
In addition to seeing this, I just had the playlist that I spent a good 30 minutes making, working with the disappearing bug, itself disappear after two days. The whole playlist vanished.

Why did they remove iTunes radio?

I was wondering if they removed it temporarly or forever, since after the second day of using it it disappeared from my music app. This also happened to one of my friends it's still not back its been 1 week since this happened? I have done resets to see if it would be there again but it wasn't.

I know this is an old post and so the individual who posed the question may not read my answer. However, I too had this issue. What you do is you go to itunes click the Itunes tab on the top (where you have your apple logo if you're using a mac) and go into your settings, then check off Internet Radio and anything else you want displayed (ie songs, albums, genres, podcasts). Then hit save. Then exit your itunes and open it up again... next to songs, albums ,etc... you should see a tab or icon called Internet. That's your radio. I hope it helps

I have the same issues, and it has happened twice. When I upgraded to IOS8 on my old iPhone 5, I DID NOT lose my purchased tones. When I purchase a new iPhone 6, none of my Tones transferred from my iPhone 5 backup, not only that, when iTunes upgraded to be compatible with IOS 8 and Yosemite, I lost all of my Tones I purchased under IOS 7.X and the old iTunes. When I upgraded to IOS 8.1, they were lost again. So I purchased some more and lost them as well. I see the Tones in iTunes, but I cannot get them to copy to my iPhone. I'm getting pretty sick of loosing my tones. At $1.29 a pop, the costs start to add up after a while

In order to prevent it - when you connect the iPad to the Mac - Transfer Purchases first before syncing - but turn auto sync off so that this will work without issue.
iTunes >Preferences>Devices> check the box at the bottom that says "Prevent iPods, iPhones .....from automatically syncing" click OK, and quit iTunes.
Connect the iPad to the Mac, launch iTunes, right click on the iPad name on the left side under "Devices" and select - Transfer Purchases. All purchased content will transfer into iTunes on the Mac. Now you can go into the Apps tab, make sure that those apps show up and have been selected to sync. Check all content of you liken all tabs. Sync when you are ready. If you make changes, click on Apply in the lower right corner to apply the changes.
You can download the apps again for free if you use the same ID that you bought them with. Use the purchased Tab in the App Store to find the apps.

Why did contacts disappear on iphone 5s

I have an iphone 5s. The phone had both a gmail email account and an Exchange email account from a previous employer. Since I am no longer with the other employer I removed the exchange email from my calendar in Settings/Mail, Contacts, Calendars. I did not want to see recurring meetings popping up any more on my calendar.
Unfortunately, I have no lost hundreds of contacts. How can I get these back?
I no longer have access to the exchange server.
But I regularly backed up on icloud and itunes.
