Why did streaming a 140mb podcast use 800mb of my data pack?

I was traveling on the train today and wanted to listen to a podcast I hadn't downloaded yet and I figured I'd just stream it. I checked the info and it listed the size as 139mb, more than I usually use in a day but not outrageous. Anyway I got home and later in the day received a text from my provider saying I had used 99% of my data cap. Looking further I can see I used over 800mb today! All I did was listen to that one podcast and some geneal email, instagram, Facebook stuff that I always do. So, what gives? Why did it use so much data to stream a podcast?

Same here. Thankfully I'm grandfathered into an unlimited plan. But the day I installed the app, I had 1.3GB in data usage!! Insane!

I purchased a new Iphone5s on October 5. I have kept the OS updated so it is at 7.0.2. now (will go to 7.0.3 when the download completes successfully). The apps and configuration on my 5s were retored from a backup of the Iphone 3GS that it replaced.
However, I just received a notification from my phone provider that I had used all of my cellular data limit for the billing period. This is surprising since my normal usage for a month is a few hundred megabytes and the limit with my new phone was 3Gb shared.
Investigating the cellular data usage numbers showed that Apple's "Notes" app had used 2.7Gb of cellular data in the 3 weeks since I had purchased the phone. In this time I had created ONE new note. I never use the app. WHY did it use so much cellular data?

This is completely ridiculous. An app I don't even use, which is installed and maintained by APPLE, starts doing something that uses Gb of cellular data. Can anyone explain WHY this is happening? I have turned cellular data usage OFF for the Notes app to try to prevent future problems (and turned off cellular data usage entirely for the rest of the month to try to avoid additional charges)... however, I have no idea how to convince my provider that a buggy app provided by Apple in the new phone they sold me is responsible for the unexpectedly high data usage.

Thank you for the comments but I somehow think we are miscommunicating.
1) I have no problem backing up the phone locally (or to icloud if I wanted to)
2) I have no problem turning on or off cellular data usage for any app on the phone
3) I have no problem seeing what apps are enabled or how much cellular data they use
My problem is the following
APPLE's Notes app used 2.7 GIGABYTES of cellular data (before I disabled cellular data for this app) despite the fact I wasn't even using the app. I didn't change any setting for Notes, I didn't do anything with it except create one note on October 15. It would seem to me that this excessive usage is a bug or oversight in Apple's design of the app.
The purpose of this post is to warn others of the potential issue and to see if this issue has been observed by anyone else and if there are any actual fixes. Disabling cellular data for the app is a work-around ... but will the problem begin again if cellular data is re-enabled?
Your suggestion of erasing all content and settings and then restoring the phone from the backup sounds extreme but would it solve the specific problem of excessive cellular data usage and if so .. why?

Why did itunes reject my podcast?

Hi - new to podcasting here.
I use Sound Cloud as my host site.

Podcast was submitted to iTunes and then rejected without a specific reason. The rejection email referred me to a list of technical requirements. Will try submitting again without the "Bravo" logo perhaps? Despite the fact that I've seen other podcasts use that logo, and mine is used for saying how we're not associated with Bravo.
Does anyone know what I'm missing? I appreciate your help.

It is normal for the phone to get hot when your using data such as YouTube videos, streaming music etc.. And as for the left speaker not working, the left speaker is a microphone, the right one is for sound. Don't worry, everything your iPhone is doing is normal.

I would first like to know why by default did it store the saves in the AppData folder? Why was the folder over written after the update?

Why won't Snow Leopard server use an up to date mySQL?

I'm about to have to throw away a perfectly good Xserve since it won't update to mySQL 5.1.33 for Moodle 2.3. I'm almost to the point of deleting snow leopard and installing Ubuntu server in its place. I have no budget for buying an OS upgrade (our budgets have been cut >35%). so if snow leopard server cannot be upgraded (I see no technical reason for not doing so on Apple's part- I have this version on mysql running on an old FreeBSD 7 server for a trouble ticket server).
No, upgrading to a new version of the Mac server is not an option.

Grant, thank you so much for the quick reply. Yes, you're right, the tower is heavy as sin! Our more recent computers out west are iMacs which are much easier for us to deal with. We do have the tower upright. Bill just moved it here to our vacation house for the winter. Is it possible [don't underestimate him] that he could have inadvertantly opened the tower DVD slot and a decidedly important part fell out during the disconnect in B'ham? The discs don't seat themselves. It's like they're too large by just a smidge and won't sit level in the depression. As I close the tray the top of the opening scrapes the disc off. It won't let it go inside so I can begin the struggle with the install itself.

I don't know, can your employer refuse to pay you because they think you are paid too much and work too little??? Yes of course you can refuse to pay your bill, your service will be suspended, your account will go to collections and your credit rating will take a hit.

Why did the name on my iCloud photostream change?

I reset my iPad, why did my photo stream disappear?

We set my iPad up with my mother's apple I.d. Then reset it to link it to mine instead. Why did my photos taken with it, that were supposed to be on photo stream disappear? :-(

Let's see if I get this right... You had the ipad connected to icloud using some ID. Then you reset it and now have the device connected to your icloud ID, but the photos on the photo stream under your icloud account are not there. Right?
The answer may be a time factor.
While photos in a device's photo stream album remain, the photos in the photo stream server in icloud remain for up to 30 days. So it could be that while the photos are on some other device of yours, they may not be in icloud's stream database any longer. That's why you may not be seeing them when you just turned on photo stream on the device.
But your photos may also be on your computer. It is always recommended that photos be synced to a computer just as you sync photos from a camera to a computer for storage.

These are user-to-user forums, you are not talking to Apple here.
If it was an audiobook then they are one-time only downloads, to get it on your other devices you need to sync it to them and not re-download it oneach. It sounds like instead of opening your Mail App, you actually opened your Settings App, and were somehow in the 'Add Account' section of Mail, Contacts & Calendars.
Close the apps, and then reopen just the Mail App.

IOS 5 used to allow Airplay between iPad (WiFi) and Apple TV (Ethernet) as long as they were on the same network. In iOS 6, now both the iPad and the Apple TV have to be on the same network and both have to be connected using WiFi ? Why did they change ?

iOS 5 used to allow Airplay between iPad (WiFi) and Apple TV (Ethernet) as long as they were on the same network, i.e. connected to the same wired/wireless router. In iOS 6, now both the iPad and the Apple TV have to be on the same network and both have to be connected using WiFi ? Why did they change this ? Means that the iPad and the Apple TV box both have to be in range of the wireless router when this wasn't a restriction before. Apple TV could be anywhere as long as it was connected to the same wireless router via ethernet cable. Seems like an unnecessary thing to restrict.

I have found with AppleTV that it is the IPV6 on the computer you want to access is the problem. The issue is that Homegroup on Win 7 or Win 8 requires IPV6 to work, but AppleTV won't work with IPV6. (So maybe double check you have IPV6 turned off)
So you have to make a choice - Homegroup or AppleTV.... but you can't have both, until Apple brings ATV up to date. (crazy that it does not recognise IPV6 - c'mon Apple!)
You can set up sharing individually in Win 7 or 8 and have the ATV access files that way.
Having said that, there is always the exception.. I have an old HP home server running Win8 and it services ATV - but is part of the Homegroup... have no idea why it works on both, but no other machine on the home network will talk to both ATV and Homegroup at the same time!

I don't know - but I am having the same problem and have not had any useful help from Apple Support. Everything they told be to do has been done and it hasn't fixed the problem.
