  • Why won't my iMessage sync with my new phone?

I recently upgraded phones to an iPhone 6, but iMessage from my Mac doesn't seem to want to sync with my phone.  If I send an iMessage using my Mac, it sends the message through gmail rather than using my phone number.  I'm sure it's something simple that I'm missing, but I can't seem figure this one out.
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi,
In that case you will most likely have to Contact Apple Support.
The Mac version we know use the Serial Number  as a way of confirming the Apple ID and Location are "you".
It seems likely that something about the iPhone is also used for it's registration.
If you did not "de-register" the original iPhone it may be it is rejecting the new one.
This will in effect be an Apple ID issue (although in this case it is your phone number) It is only linked to the iMessages server.
As an Account issue the "Fix" should be free.  However you may have to ask to speak to a Level 2 person as Level 1 people are very Script led and try to place all calls as "software" or "hardware" issues that charged fro after Apple Care has run out.
Remember you are also entitled to 90 days of Apple Care with a new device.

  • What do I do if I have an older mac working great and I want to sync with my newer phone via iCloud?

I am really disappointed that my older Mac will not be able to use iCloud to sync with my newer phone.  Has anything been done to remedy this problem.  You make a great product that lasts, but it appears people are being forced to upgrade when nothing is wrong with their computers. Why support other brands but not your own.  I want to continue to buy Apple products, but not if I am forced to upgrade before I need or can afford too.

I'm afraid that five years is a long time in computer history; and while an older machine will continue to work as well as it ever did you often can't take advantage of more recent developments in technology.
To make use of iCloud you will have to upgrade your Mac to Lion or Mountain Lion, provided it meets the requirements.
If you are running Leopard on an Intel Mac you will have to upgrade to Snow Leopard to access the Mac App Store - it's available in the online Apple Store. However if you have a PPC Mac you cannot run Snow Leopard and cannot proceed further.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
To purchase it you will have to ring Apple at the number given at the bottom left of this page.
The requirements for Mountain Lion are:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
    and the supported models are:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
It is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications).
You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

  • My computer that my iphone 4 is backed up on crashed... I bought a new computer as well as the iphone 5. How can transfer the my data/pics/notes/songs etc to my new phone?

My computer that my iphone 4 is backed up on crashed... I bought a new computer as well as the iphone 5. How can transfer the my data/pics/notes/songs etc to my new phone?

Use the backup you have of the old computer and restore that data to the new computer. Also and backups that you have made of your iTunes library (it has a method to back it up as well) can be copied back over to the new computer. If you attempt to sync the phone to the new computer without the data, it will delete that data from the phone. The iPhone is not designed as a storage/backup device and as such will not sync music from itself to a new computer.
If by chance you had not been backing up the computer and/or iTunes, you can google for some third party software, such as Touchcopy that will do some of what you are asking.

Connect your iPad to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and “ Check for Updates “...
If an Update Appears Install it... if not... you are up to date for your particular Device...

  • How do i erase photos that were synced to my new phone from my old phone?

photos that were saved to my iPhoto, synced onto my new phone and when i try to erase, the trash can button doesn't appear.

You erase them by syncing with iTunes. Instructions below quoted from iTunes: Syncing photos - Apple Support
To delete synced photos and videos from your device
In iTunes, click the Device button in the upper right corner. (If viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button in the upper-right corner first.)
Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
Note: To delete all synced photos, deselect "Sync Photos from" and, when asked, click "Remove photos."
    Click Apply.

  • Why did my sync with my new phone bring in such old data from my apps

I recently upgraded from a 3GS to a 5S. Before activating the 5S, I synced my 3GS in iTunes. When I activated the phone and did my first sync with it, the data in all of my apps that store data was very, very old. I use Calengoo, for instance. The calendar that was imported to my new phone looked as if I'd last updated it in September 2013, despite the fact that I back up and sync that calendar regularly. My online google calendar was up to date, so I could rectify that situation without much effort.
I also use a reminder program called Due. The reminders that were imported were similarly the ones I'd had in the phone last fall.
I use Balance Pro to keep track of my bank balances. The accounts and information in that app are also very old.
I still have the apps and current info stored on my old 3GS. Is there any way for me to import them to my new phone so that I don't have to manually re-enter all that data?
As a side note, some of the apps on my old phone were not transferred to my new phone at all. Google maps and IMDb are the two that I recall off the top of my head.
    Thanks for any help,
    Chris

  • HT201269 songs not transferred to new phone from backup

I have a new phone - installed from backup.  Media (songs) did not come over.  Only a few did.  How to I get the rest of them over to the new phone?  It is not intuitive and I only have a fraction of my media on the new phone - looks like other songs went to iCloud even though I just did a straight backup to computer, not to the cloud.  help!

Non-iTunes media had to be synced to the phone.
Are you saying you no longer have the songs on your computer? No backup?
You will have to use third party software such as TouchCopy to transfer the songs from the 4S back to your computer so that you can add them to iTunes and sync them to the new phone

  • How do I add my sync items to new phone

    Hi all,
I recently had a palm centro and did regular syncs to my computer. Yesterday my phone came into contact with my 2 year old and needless to say "it went to heaven", so now I am looking to buy a different palm phone maybe the pixie or maybe just some other type of phone (not sure yet).
My question is can I get all my sync music, messages, photos etc thats on the computer be added to a new phone that is not a centro? if so how do I do this?
    Thank you in advance

    Photos:
You should be able to poke around a folder similar to the one listed here (the page is for other devices, but Centro files can't be that far off) and see all the phots that have synchronized to your Centro: http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/31573_en.html
And then there's how to move the photos to Pixi: http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/na/pixi/pixi/sprint/solutions/article/19401_en.html
    Messages:
I don't think there's any way to port SMS messages over to a new phone.
Email messages are synchronized from the source accounts to Pixi: http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/na/pixi/pixi/sprint/solutions/article/20098_en.html
    Music:
You can either use USB Drive Mode to move music files to a Pixi (without playlists): http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/na/pixi/pixi/sprint/solutions/article/19401_en.html
... OR ... sync a playlist using an add-on app like GoGadget, doubleTwist: http://www.palm.com/us/products/software/sync.html
    Calendar, Contacts:
They're moved from Palm Desktop when you run a migration tool from Palm: http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/pre/migration/dta_windows.html

  • HT2729 I bought Andrea Bocelli's new album and only one song synced to my I phone? Why?  How to fix?

I bought Andrea Bocelli's new album on itune's.  It went onto my library on my computer. Only one song went onto my iphone?  What up with that?

OH my god SOMEONE PLEASEE help me. I closed itunes so maybe it could work again now it looks like its never downloaded it dissapeared from my library. I went to the album it looks purchased but it doesnt have a download button. So what you basicly did is you made up a problem. You failed to help me. You stole 0,90 and still dont care to answer me back. Not community nor if there is any workers here, themselves. I wanted to support one of my favorite singers and this is what I get in return.

  • Song syncing difficulties on new iPod touch with iTunes match

I've got all my songs backed up on iCloud with iTunes match. I've been able to download most of the songs I've wanted from iCloud to my iPod touch but there a few songs that won't sync and I can't play on my iPod. I've tried to load them on the iPod manually with no success. Suggestions?

Couple of things come to mind. When you've got the list selected in iTunes, do you have Name selected on the top bar so they sort by Name? Try selecting the ^ to the left of name.
If it's a smart list, see [Smart Playlist not syncing as expected|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3044]
    Hope that fixes it.

  • Why won't my Ipod sync now?  New computer, Windows 7.

I'm setting up a new Win 7 computer. I copied my itunes folder over and downloaded itunes. Shift-clicked and opened itunes and selected one of my libraries. It shows up fine. However, when I plug in my iPod it does not sync. First time I did it Windows tried to download a driver. I canceled that. I don't think that happened on my first install.
    Thanks for any assistance,
    R. Harper

    Hi Don-
FYI - I have since learned from Microsoft's site that you can only uninstall SP1 if you actually installed it. If it was incorporated into the Windows installation (as mine was) you cannot uninstall it. It does not show up in the list of updates you can uninstall. Anyway, I forget where I stumbled on it, but someone posted that it is a problem related to on-board USB ports and can be remedied by installing a USB card with a VMA chip. Coincidentally, I had just ordered one, as this bare-bones Tiger kit has only 4 rear and 2 front, which is woefully inadequate now that parallel and serial ports have disappeared. From the picture, it appears that it has a VMA chip, so I'll let you know if this works.
