Why Didn't PayPal 6 Month Guarantee Protect Me?
I bought an item for my recording studio (channel strip) It has a mic preamp. compressors, and eq. The seller said it was hardly used. He said if it wasn't working 100% and needed repair he would cover it. Since I was tied up on a project I didn't test it out to 45 days or so. But since the guy guaranteed it and PayPal has a 6 months guarantee I didn't think twice about it. If Paypal had only a 30 day guarantee then I would of tested it in 30 days. After I test it I discovered it was severely damaged. I tried to contact the seller but he avoided my calls and text message for 1 month or more. Now it's been 3 months since I bought it but hey... the seller said he'd fix it and sounded very honest guy (a fellow musician and all). Plus I had PayPal's 6 month guarantee so I wasn't worried about it. When I finally got a hold of him he said he would cover the repairs and I sent it in to an authorized repair facility. It took them 3 weeks to get and estimate. The cost was $818 or so. Then the seller disappeared again. So after 4 months went buy I put in a dispute with PayPal. The seller lied and said it had been modified or repaired. It hadn't been repaired. I have the estimate in writing and and email from the repair facility stating if I want it repaired, this is what it will cost and let them know. PayPal went over the estimate and saw that it wasn't repaired and that it was just waiting to be repaired but STILL sided with the seller saying "Why did you wait 4 months?" I said "Because I followed your policy and did everything my power first to settle it with the seller" It took me 2 months just to track the seller down and get the estimate and his ok to send it in!
They said "Well... on a $1,000 item you should of took care of it in 30 days." Hey... I WOULD of if PayPal only had a 30 day guarantee.
The seller finally said to me "I'll pay $450 but that's it!" Since I lost the dispute I took his $450 but now have to come up with over $368 to get it fixed.
So now it sits waiting to be fixed in the repair shop while I save u for the other $368. Shouldn't PayPal guarantee it and pay the $368 or refund my $1,000? I don't want the refund, I want the unit fixed. But what good is a guarantee if it doesn't protect you?
So who can I contact from PayPal to get this worked out?

I know PayPal doesn't have a warranty. This unit was not working on day one! I turned it on as soon as I recieved it and noticed it was acting odd on the input singal (it was spiking and jumping on it's own). But didnt test it yet with sound going through it since I didn't need to use the unit yet. Tthe seller said it was like new hardly use, with PayPals protection I didn't worry about it. This is not a warranty issue, this is an issue where the seller said it was like new and worked. Then when the it didn't he didn't want to pay for the repairs since it was $818. So, he onty wanted to pay $450 but is that right? The item was not in the condition that the seller said it was. According to PayPals policy my case is valid and PayPal even said I was in the right. The ONLY reason they sided with the seller was that I hadn't reported it earlier. Really? Then why not have a 30 day policy not a 6 month policy? I did what they asked and tried to work it out with the seller first for 2 months BEFORE I went to PayPal for help. PayPal should have honored what they put in writing. Not sided with the seller. I have everything docutmented and read through PayPals policy. What I want to know is WHO in corporate can I contact to speak with. Please post useful info only. Thanks

Stolen iphone - why didn't it notifiy me when it connected to the internet?
I have a couple of questions. First, my son's iphone was stolen a few weeks ago. Within an hour it was noticed and we put it in lost mode. It was no where to be found. We left it on our sprint account, hoping that when it got turned on, it would be locked when it connected to the internet. Last night, evidently it connected because it was no longer activated, and it had my number on the lock screen. Someone, claming they bought it from someone else, said they had my number and they called me. I got it back, and I am ridiculously lucky.
But not really happy with apple.
On my phone, I had my son's icloud email added. CS said that as soon as it gets connected to the internet, I'd get an email notifying me where it was. No such thing happened. In fact, when I went to get the phone out of lost mode, it was deactivated, and location settings were turned off. I got a very unhelpful email that the phone was found, which I was aware of since it was in my hand. Where was that email?
My other question is that the person who gave it to me insisted that they could have wiped it, even with it in lost mode, and she was being super honest and wanted credit for her honesty - which I'm not a theif and I didn't see anyone giving me credit for not stealing anything I see not bolted down. That was particularly annoying, though I remained gracious and thanked her profusely.
Is that really possible? This was the latest update of 7.1.1 . And why didn't we get notified of where it was? I think she thought we could find her, which is why I think she gave it back. Othewise, it might just be lost forever. I'm fairly certain that the person who stole it thought we'd give up and get it off our account, and the internet would never connect to notify us of where it was. Glad I was patient.
So educate me - how is this REALLY supposed to work?
It also was a beast to restore. It forever couldn't connect to the servers through my wifi in my house. I finally gave up and in the morning it did what it was supposed to. It truly was a nightmare, not even counting the whole stress of the phone being stolen in the first place. I wondered if it was possible that there was any kind of a virus put on it (I know, I know - apple is supposed to be virus free) or perhaps it might have been cloned. It was exceptionally frustrating that the phone wasn't working properly. When we updated it, it had wiped itself and we had to start from scratch (6 weeks ago) and it behaved much the same last night.If you did not disable access to control center from the lockscreen, then it is trivially easy to put it in airplane mode in an attempt to prevent it from being wiped or locked.
If Find my iPhone is active, which it apparently was, there is no way the phone could be wiped and used without the password for your Apple ID. It can be wiped, but it can't be activated or used after that. It's a brick without your credentials.
I'm not a trusting person, I would tend to believe that the person who gave you your phone back was a disgruntled thief who realized they had more chance of getting you to cough up a reward than they did of being able to use the phone, or, at best, someone who knowingly purchased a stolen phone from someone and discovered the same thing.
I would have called the police. -
Power Mac G4 Cube! Why Didn't It Make A Bigger "Splash"?
I'm feeling nostalgic and want to discuss the now legendary (at least in my eyes) Power Mac G4 Cube. I remember this computer being something more than just "a computer". I saw it as Apple really pushing the boundaries of engineering art and design. Yes Steve blew everyone away with the introduction of the iMac in 1998, but personally I think the Cube at the beginning of the new millenium was when Apple really kicked hardware innovation into a higher gear.
But what puzzles me is why didn't the Cube make a bigger splash in the market than it did? Today most won't even know what it is except for the true Apple fans of the last 15 years. Usually Apple introduces a design language and it runs for a few years before any major revision or retirement. The Cube was introduced and was only around for a year.
I'd just like to know your thoughts on the Cube (maybe personal memories of owning one, if you did) in general and why it didn't make any real impact.
One question to ask would be why didn't the G4 Cube naturally evolve into a G5 Cube like the rest of Apple's lineup at the time?

I think there were several reasons...
There werent many Mac users then.
Many thought a real computer had to be BIG.
The lack of upgradability was seen as a drawback by many.
It cost as much as a big computer of a different ilk.
One question to ask would be why didn't the G4 Cube naturally evolve into a G5 Cube like the rest of Apple's lineup at the time?
Same reason there were no G5 Laptops, mostly heat issues, though laptops had an additional power/battery problem... whole reason Apple went to Intel chips. -
I accidently closed the window with all my frequently used app tabs, now the only window that opens was an extra one I had opened. How do I get back all my app tabs from the previous window, and why didn't it give me the usual warning you are closing more than one tab? edit
DetailsThen the (App) tabs from that window are lost unless you can restore an older copy of the sessionstore.js file (Time Machine?) that has that lost window.

Are all books and PDF files available in the iBooks app on your iPhone available in your iTunes library on your computer?

I tried to download Itunes onto my computer. It seemed to download, then the computer restarted itself, but the file for itunes isn't there. Why didn't it download right?
After doing some research, I found out that I had accidently hid iPhoto after I paused the download. After going into my apple id account and saw my hidden purchases, I found it. Thank you so much helping me though!

Enable it in Notification center Settings.
Open the app and go to More>Settings>Preferences>turn on Notification Center and (if you want) Calendar. -
I just restarted Firefox and a window popped up saying that it had upgraded itself and that it was checking for compatibility with my add-ons. Unfortunately, one of them, which I rely on quite extensively, apparently is not compatible with FIrefox 22.0.
So now I'm stuck. While I'm hopeful that this will resolve itself, I decided to make sure that it won't happen again. I checked my preferences and found that Firefox was set to automatically install updates and to warn me if this would disable any of my add-ons.
So, here is my question: Why didn't it warn me that this would disable an add-on?
I am running (now) Firefox 22.0 on a Mac running 10.7.5.
--wpdI have no idea why you did not get a warning. It may be possible to enable the add-on. Click add-ons then extensions this will display all add-ons installed on your firefox. Is there a enable option? If not consider removing add-on and reinstalling it. Hope this helps let me know if it does.

The way the date/time was displayed was changed in iOS7. There had been numerous complaints about not having a date/time stamp on all posts, so it was changed to display the time for all by sliding the post to the left. They left the date stamp to show differently. I couldn't tell you what it does for posts more than a week old, as I never save my messages that long.
Meg's post provides for software where you could move the SMS to the computer and it should contain a full date/time stamp on it. -

I am currently on Os 10.7.5. I understand that apple is now up to 10.9. Why didn't I get a reminder in software updates? it only had an itunes update?
Because it's considered an upgrade and must be downloaded through the Mac App Store.

Migration Assistant- Why didn't my pictures&music transfer?
I don't own an ethernet cable, so I decided that I would use my high-speed internet to transfer my documents, photos, and music from my (3-year)old Macbook to my new one. However, it took exactly 24 hours. Apparently, it took 24 hours to only transfer my documents folder (which only has about 100 text files that don't contain that much)
Besides the fact that it took so long, I found out that the user from my old computer was locked. I dragged the user into MY documents, and I was able to view my old documents. However, NONE of my pictures (I have around 11,000...) or my music (900 songs) were to be found, despite the insane amount of time it took to transfer.
*Why didn't my pictures and music transfer?*
*Is there and easier way to migrate your information that DOESN'T take a full day?*
Also, *how do I unlock the files* without doing the whole copying process again? For some reason the copying to MY documents allowed me to open them, but its going to be a hassle re-copying all my photos etc. once they've been transferred next time.katy652 wrote:

Get one. Better yet, if both Macs have FireWire ports, get a FireWire cable.
Or, if you have Time Machine backups or a "clone" of the old Mac on an external drive, transfer from it instead.
Then start over, but use +Setup Assistant+ this time. The problem with using the +Migration Assistant+ is that you end up with an extra user account. And sometimes the accounts transferred that way aren't recognized as the same ones, thus the permissions problems.
