Why didn't you warn me that I would lose all my bookmarks when I updated my iPad software?

I just upgraded my iPad to the new software and when I went to Safari, all of my bookmarks are gone. Why the **** didn't I get a warning about this before the update?  Every time I update software on my iPhone or iPad, something gets f***ed up. For a company that makes such good toys, why can't they update their software half as good as Microsoft?
