WHY DO APPLE NEED CREDIT CARD TO LOAD FREE OS ?

Why do i need to fill up oodels of pages to load yesemite and why do i need a credit card for load a free OS ?
Is there yesemite in some other place than Apple when apple seems not be able to provide service to customers ?

I will move to other OS then ... Apple should stop saying its free if i need to pay to visa , master card or amex 50 dollars to load it  ... i would have paypal account but its not an option .... apple can keep their phone help lines
You don't have to pay anything for it. The credit card will not be charged at all when you download Yosemite. The credit card is required to establish the account at the App Store, not to actually purchase Yosemite. You seem incapable of understanding the difference.

I called apple support because my iphone 5 charger stopped working and they said they would send me a new charger but why do they need credit card information if every apple product has 1 year warranty?

    Hi CryyCorr33
Sound like they did what is called an express replacment. What apple does is they put a hold on your Credit Card for the amount of the cord because they are sending you the cord first. Then, once you receive the new cord in about 2-3 days, you'll put the defective cord in the box and ship it back out and when they receieve the defective one, they'll be able to remove that hold from you card.
I believe the reason behind the hold on your card is incase you don't return your defective one to them so they can find out the cause of the issue.
An Apple Retail Store could swap them out for you in store incase you happen to be near one. This requires no hold.
    Hope this helps

  • Why do they need credit card security code to download load a free app

I have the iBook app and have been notified of an update, when I selected install I was asked fro my credit card security number, which after the recent press were hundreds of apple members personnel details had been stolen this is a bit naughty until they prove they are trust worthy, I feel that as they already have the information from when I purchased the iPad and many other apps a free upgrade does not need such high security. Unless I'm wrong, please tell me why?

I've missed the press reports about stolen details but I have heard of fraudulent purchases being made on accounts where the Apple ID & Password have become compromised. Not so long ago I found myself having to a one-time revalidation of my credit card and also tighten up my password. You might also be prompted for details if your credit card on file expires. I'm sure you would prefer that you and you alone got access to your account so I would suggest you perform the account validation and then remove your credit card from file - i.e. switch your payment method to none. You should be able to obtain free updates thereafter, at least until the next major tweak to security demands we all revalidate ourselves.
(Actually, I think you might be asked for some additional info. each time you use a new device to try to access your account which again would be a positive anti-fraud strategy)

  • Why do I need credit card to subscribe?

Apple cannot keep my credit card secure (had that experience before), but still badly wants it?
So badly that they would not accept a gift card credit?
What is this? I do not need "automatic renewal", I will ask for it if I need one.

That's how it's been set up. Consider it a system limitation of the iTune Store then.
Well, they might ask your naked photo to verfy your body shape, will you accept that?
If not, where is that line of acceptable?
Is it not for some people that you ask credit card info when/if you want to charge that card (which is not the case, because you can use iTunes credit and not pay with credit card, you just need to submit credit card info)?
That you ask person's address if you want to send him a mail or visit him?
That you collect any personal information when you actually need it, not to boost your ego, because you can?
Finally is it not clear that in this case, info is needed just to link all your devices with actual personal info, usage patterns etc.?

  • Why need credit card to create apple id??

I have try to create apple id for my aunt but why i need to have credit card to do it???
Before i dont need credit card at all
    Please help

Usually just confirms the country you live in - you might not be going to make any purchases from the store but Apple are going to assume you will, and you can only buy from the store for your own country for copyright reasons.  The credit card number verifies the country you are living in.

why is need credit card for my id to conect with itune
your id has not been used with itune

    Hello, Tayub Amin.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
To create an Apple ID without a credit  or debit card, there is a specific series of steps that have to be processed in order to allow the payment to be set as none on creation of the account.
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
If the specific steps have not been processed, a credit or debit card will be required to complete the setup the account.
However, it can be removed and payment method changed to none as long as there is not an outstanding balance.

Just to add to AnaMusic's list:
Does Apple charge credit cards just for registering a credit card??
Yes, Apple will validate the credit card, when you are setting up the account information for an Apple ID. The credit card must be valid in the country of the store, that you are trying to buy from. And the card you are using must neither be blocked by the issuer of the card nor by the Apple for store services.
The error message  you are citing is misleading: The error message could either mean
that you are using the wrong type of card (Are you using a debit card or a credit card?)
that the AppeID or the credit card you are using has been blocked for security reasons,
or that you are encountering a store error, because you are trying to use the iTunes Store or AppStore from a country, where it is not yet supported.

hi! i cannot use my account in apple because it need a credit card for payment, but i dont have any credit card.. i follow already your instruction on how to fill-up for no need credit card... but it different from your application.. no NONE selection will appear, only mastercard, visa, and am. express.. pls. help me..

Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is critical. If you don't follow them exactly as given, it won't work. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
You will of course not be able to get anything other than the free apps without entering in some sort of payment method (credit card, prepaid iTunes card, gift certificate, etc.)
    Regards.

If None is not available - On your computer launch iTunes and click "iTunes Store" in the left navigation pane. Click the "down arrow" next to your name at the top right side of the page and click "Account." Enter your username and password and click "View Account" to log into your account information. Next to your Payment Type, click "Edit." Select the "None" button and click "Done." Confirm that your card has been removed by returning to the Apple account information screen. Under Payment Type, it should say that there is no credit card on file.

  • Apple/iTunes credit card and Apple Pay

I have changed my Apple/iTunes credit card and now I am unable to enter that card into Apple Pay. I don't get the prompt at the beginning of the entering process to enter the Apple Store credit card as I did before I changed the card.

I Think that the reason so many of us are asking is that it did offer to add the card that was used in iTunes even though it was not supported. When I first setup Apple Pay it asked me if I wanted to use my card associated with iTunes. My card was an unsupported GM Master Card. I chose instead to add my supported Chase debit card. I could never get it to ask me again. And I cannot add the GM card through passbook.
It to may not have completed adding the iTunes card if I had chosen it first, but sure acted like it might had I chosen it first. I think that is why so many of us were asking.
