Why do connectors in teh master data base have pins defined as 'bi-directional'?

This causes all kinds of erc errors. Is the only option to copy the parts to my corp lib and change the pins to passive, or turn off that error check?
It would be great and more appropriate if all connectors in the master database were defined with 'passive' pins.

Yes, I can do that, but then a real error of this type of connection is not flagged. It makes no sense to define a connector pin as bi-directional. They should be passive.
For some reason this is more irritating in the V13 beta. It allways complains about the errors each time I switch to the design window, until I explicitly run the error checker again.

I have a master data object which has every day loading from one particular data source. Now I got a requirement to load data from another data source. If we load data from more than one data source , will there be any problem with data? Will it accept loading from more than one data source.?

Hi Ram,
We can load the data to target morethan one datasource.Thats advantage in BI compare to BW. It will accept loading from more than one datasource.but you have to take care about characteristic and attributes are the same in both datasources like that.

Problem When Try to add Master data record for User define form

I have made one user define form. And assign UDO and fields proerly in form.
But when I try to add the record from the form it will give me error
Invalid Code [Operation Master -Code] [Message 173-36]
I have already bind the code field of the table to one field in the screen painter.

Create custom transaction on the base of RSDMD to populate bw master data

Hello All,
my client is asking me if there is a possibility to create a custom transaction on the base of standard transaction RSDMD to populate the master data manually allowing the users to see only selected master data.
we have a SAP BW and APO on the same system.
the client ask if we can have a control level if the master data call other infoobjects for example (hierarchy market call the infoobjects LEV1, LEV2 etc) we can do in a manner that is not possibile to insert new valus but only to combine existed values?

Make all master data infoobjects authorization relevant and custom profile accordingly to the users in the standard authorizations and analysis authorizations.
This will enable users to see only certain master data in their queries ( analysis authorizations ) and in their data display ( standard authorizations) instead of custom transaction.

Vendor master data-sensitive field search term 1

Incase of Vendor master data ,i have defined search term 1 AS SENSITIVE FIELD.
When i change the master data i.e search term 1 sometimes it asks for change confirmation and sometime it doesnt.
Can you pls let me know why does this happen..that too for few vendors any logic.

Long DDIC Activation for Master Data Change During Transport

Good Morning Folks,
During transport of a change to a custom master data object to production, the data dictionary activation is taking a very long time and using a very large amount of space.
The change to the master data object was adding three additional navigational attributes. This master data is not time-dependant. The master data contains about 1.2 million records and has 49 active navigational attributes u2013 including the three new ones. The Data Dictionary activation is executing report SAPLRSDU for more than 8 hours and is using upwards of 52GB of temp filespace (of 92GB allocated) during this time. To the best of our knowledge, it looks as if it is trying to recreate or repopulate the /BIC/Pxxxx table of the master data. It looks like it's reading billions of records (probably the same 1.2 m records over and over.)
There are no errors in any logs that we can see.
Previous changes to this master data object have been successful, and reasonably fast. And the transport of this change from Dev to our QA environment was very fast.
We still need to get this change in, as well as additional changes that are dependant. Why would this take so long, and is there anything we can do to get this to run faster?
BTW: We are on 3.5 (but looking forward to NW7.)

Usually adding nav attributes would mean that the X and y tables get regenerated...
Also do you notice reads only on the P-Table or other tables which have this object as well..?
If it is only the P Table - try refreshing the stats for the same...

Custom field values are not storing in the data base

Hi Friends,
We have created one Custom field called ZZ_APPROVER in Rfx Header , we have included this field in the below stuctures
1.INCL_EEW_PD_HEADER_CSF_BID
2.INCL_EEW_PD_HEADER_CSF
The data type of this field ( ZZ_APPROVER ) is CHAR and the length is 1 . we have given 2 fixed values in Value Range
1 -
X+2 Approver
2 --- Provisional Approver
so when we select either 1 or 2 ( in Drop Down ), its displaying properly on RFx Screen, but when we try save this document the values are not strong in the data base.
Can any one give me idea why its not stroring in the data base

A Record is created in table BBP_PDHSC , for other z fields, the values are stroing , but for this field ( ZZ_APPROVER ) [ drop down list ], the value is not stroring

Blank Row in table during Master Data Load

I am having some success with my master data loads, but when I maintain the master data I have noticed that every table has had a blank row inserted.
Does anybody know why and what I should do with the row (i.e. delete it)?

This blank row is by default created and you can no way delete it. Though you delete it, a new row with blank values will be appended. This is required for some technical reason while reading the table within ABAP programs.
This is applicable only for SAP tables and may not be required for custom developed ones unless you want to use this in screen programs.

You comment regarding 'changing the nature of authorisations' is an interesting one because as you have already pointed out and is consistent with the way the product(s) work; you cannot change any more than your SAP credentials allow you to change.
All that said, quite rightly; the idea of being able to perform mass changes on ANYTHING in your SAP system of record should not be taken lightly and due diligence should be applied in determining who should have such tools and under what circumstances they should be used. Design and testing in QA or pre-production environments is an absolute must and this discipline should be applied with the same level of enthusiasm and commitment as you would any objects that you develop for productive use even if they are LSMW or regular BDC's.
The product supports a controlled release approach if implemented in a particular way, using centralised license management and workflow controls around the scripts and data templates and workbooks. Scripts can be restricted to particular SAP instances, particular volumes of data, particular transactions, particular times of day/week/month for execution.
Additionally you have two types of licenses, author/developer licenses and runner-only licenses. This avoids you landing up in a situation where inexperienced users can create their own automation objects, in such circumstances these users would typically only be given a runner license.
Some customers don't choose to use this governance and compliance approach though and choose to buy only the authoring tools, accordingly they essentially leave the door open to the creation of potentially harmful objects.
Again exhaustive testing is always recommended. WIth over 1,000 customers globally there are plenty of ASUG member references and you should actually be able to get referrals to existing customers who can tell you how they have introduced and manage controls around the use of the products.

Becasue SAP BW already creates a Blank Line, it cannot create a new one again for you.
So, when you loaded the Blank like with description, it uses the existing blank line and creates test for it.
Each row in the table will have a SID.
e.g.,
12345 text1
23446 text2
You cannot have
12345 text1
12345 text2
If you load the above, you will have "12345 text2" in the table.
Same way, you cannot have two SIDs for the same key, so your new text is used for the existing Blank Key value.
SAP creates this:
Key, Description
when you loaded the Master Data, you have:
" ", "whatever you loaded".

Error in Master Data Charecteristic number 0DOC_NUMBER.

While doing attribute change run for the master data charecteristics 0DOC_NUMBER I am getting the following error message "Error updating the data records /BI0/XDOC_NUMBER", i tried to do RSRV to find the error and repair this master data but it showed an error message again saying " Charecteristic 0DOC_NUMBER: 649,447 values from table /BI0/SDOC_NUMBER do not exist in tab" please give me some suggestions why it is happening or any SAP Note regarding this issue, here i would like to mention 0doc_number is having 39,323,812 records.

Hi,
the fill attribute SID table will populate the X table, but this is usually not a big problem.
But being given your input on number of records on the different tables you issue is that your are missing entries in the SID table (the S table), which is a serious issue: it means that some master data IDs (your document number) doesn't have their corresponding SID.
As you may know, this link is vital when you use this IOBj in ICubes since it is the SID which is posted in the Dimension table. Having this link broken would produce inacurate results in reporting for the affected documents (they will purely not show up).
I would investigate which Master data IDs have no SID: this can be done in RSRV / elementary test / master data / Compare characteristic values in SID/P/and Q tables for characteristic.
Please let us know how this test goes; another issue is the number of records in this IObj....
Then you'll need to perform a where used list on 0DOC_NUMBER and compile the cubes using it.
Let me know how it goes....

Profit center filed in Fund Center Master data in Budget Control system(BCS

This is client requirement that Profit Center need to be put in Fund Center master Data, I have checked standard SAP field status for Fund center master data but Profit center option is not available there.
Could some one advise me how to add profit center into Fund Center or is there is Badi or customer enhancements available in SAP.

I dont know the reason why the customer wants this but in case the Profit Center of the funds center must be the same as the one available in Cost Center master data they can create a derivation rule in FMDERIVE for this.
The same in case Profit Center comes from the WBS Element, in order to read the WBS element master data, you will have to
create a new derivation step calling function module FMDT_READ_MD_WBS_ELEMENT.
In case Profit Center should come from another place, let me know.
Just to inform the exit names, in FMMD0009 Customer-Specific Screen Fields for Funds Centers, you have the following exits:

can we apply attribute change run for datatarget like masterdata where for example i am loading 0pm_order_attr to 0pm_order data target (master data). after successful loading of data, do i have to apply attribute change run for <i>info object</i> 0pm_order or apply attribute change run for 0pm_order in <i>info providers</i> because after successful loading of pm order data, i am trying to load transactional data and it is showing error "No SID value found for xxx record"
pls advice how not to make the error repeat even after successful loading of master data.

i am in production server and cannot activate the master data 0pm_order which is in info providers directly, is there any chance of activating it with any other option.

i ran attribute change run yesterday for the info object 0pm_order but even after doing that i tried to load transactional data but it was failure with the same error "No SID value found", why i am getting when i found master data loading successful and ran attribute change run for infoobject.

the information whcih i retriving from vistex application ,
i have the vistex extractor by using this i have to retrieve in BI layer(psa)
and master data information(Product no,Product descrip,material name and NDC) is already in BI side which is loading from ECC side,
and hence i came to know for Vistex application there is no standard content delivered in SAP,
so everything i need to cuustomize in BI landscape from datasource level to Data target level.

i need to crate master only contract information,

plz give the idea about whcih key combination i need to create the contract master
since material master data already loading into master data data target,ur saying keep the key fields(material) in DSo
why we need to load master data information into DSO? as u replied .
for material information in DSO key fields we can keeep 0material it ll be fulfill for rest of master data .if its so,
what is the unique field for contract information to keep as 0material? in DSO
