Why do contacts i delete reappear in messages or spot light search

I delete and DELETED old contacts.. but they still still appear when starting a new message as i type their name.

You won't be able to delete individual messages but there is a way to stop all the messages from showing in Spotlight
Settings > General > Spotlight Search > Uncheck Messages

Well, what I see happing is this: Tapping edit and checking the first message brings up the “Delete” option. Holding it until the red message “Delete Message” appears, then letting go of the red button and tapping the checked button makes the “Delete Message” message go away. The checked message is still checked with an option to delete just that message. Tap the checked message again just cancels the whole process and I’m back to square one.
However, if I check a message that is part of a thread of messages and tap Delete, I have the option of deleting all messages in the thread.
Perhaps the fact that I’m using the 3rd generation of the iPad is the problem, but your suggestion isn’t working.

Ah...that doesn't delete anything from Spotlight search, just determines what Spotlight searches. nothing else.

Why I cannot assess deleted Apple mail messages in time machine after installing mountain lion from snow leopard.

Ever since I installed Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard, I cannot retrieve my deleted Apple mail messages from Time Machine. I could do it in the past using Snow Leopard. The effective date for the the non-retrival of deleted messages is the date I installed Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard. Any thoughts?

Mountain Lion appears to have given it an icon very much like an Archive box and put the "on My Mac" folder within that "Box" on both the back ups and the new Mail program - in fact it did it 6 times, which was the origional problem.

I could restore inbox messages although they came in as a new mail box called Time Machine rather than into their origional mailboxes (there are 7 different addresses)
Yes, that's how Time Machine restores Mail messages, so it doesn't erase the current contents of an existing mailbox. You can then move them into the desired location.

Why has my phone deleted all my messages

i went to send a messgae my phone restarted automatically and when i turned it back on ALL my messages had been deleted.
I have tried to reset and restart my iphone but nothing worked.
Why did this happen ? and can i get them back ?

Did you log on to your email account from a PC to verify if the emails were on the main server?
If your settings have it set to remove the emails from the email server and save them locally on your phone or tablet, then you MUST backup your phone's files manually---and often.
Here's some places to check
1) Start with your email server from a PC. Login to your email account with your computer. Are the files there? Check Folders
Yes--Then change your phone settings to download the older emails. You may have it set to download only 10 most recent.
If No--then try the other options below, but before you log out, change your sync settings to leave messages on the server.
2) Check your External SD card for the backup files
3) Check if you backed up data to a Cloud server.
4) Check if any other devices you may have your email account setup on. Like a tablet, or an old backup phone still connected to wifi. ( I'll pick up one of my old phones and find tons of old emails loaded on it. )
If you didn't backup your files and you have your email settings set to remove the emails from the server to your phone, then you are probably out of luck.
Going forward---1) leave emails on the server. 2) Save to your ext SD card 3) ALWAYS backup App data files including photos, text msg, call logs, app configurations from your INTERNAL SD card before installing ANY update. Some updates will wipe your phone clean...some will not.

Why can't I delete my email messages?

All of a sudden yesterday I could no long make any changes to my emails. I couldn't delete them or forward them, or reply to them. Why??? I use this every day.

Firefox doesn't do email, it's strictly a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.
If your problem is with Mozilla Thunderbird, let us know and we can move this thread to the Thunderbird queue. This question currently is in the Firefox queue for answers.

This issue can be caused by corrupted cookies.
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
* Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
* Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

I am about to SCREAM!!! How do you read the entire search result in spolight? Please someone help me!! I am not good with this phone. Would it make a difference if the message had been deletedfrom the conversation? HELP

It's not clear just what you're asking.
If you search for, say, "Smith" on the iPhone's Spotlight-like search feature (which you get to on the iPhone by swiping left-to-right from the home screen), you will see, among other things, those text messages that are sent by "Smith". You can then click on one of the messages shown. Doing this will reveal the entire message.

Why do I get the following when message on Contacts which does not let me delete; Cannot connect to the account-enter password for -..-When i do this nothing happens, same message reappears?!

This I do but the same thing repeats itself!
Also(?) I am unable to share photos, as 'server did not recognise user/password combination'?

Ihone 4s lost all contacts. I tried to restore from backup but the error message now says there is not enough room. I have deleted all the apps without making any more room on iphone. Why did contact disappear and how do I get them back?

In the simplest sense, archiving a file means making a copy that you never change and never discard. You already know how to do that.
iPhoto has built-in archival features, in the sense that it saves all versions of an image that you've modified. As long as you have adequate backups, you don't necessarily have any reason to archive an iPhoto library. If you want to delete images from the working library but still have access to them in case you change your mind, then you do need to archive those images. I don't have a specific suggestion as to how you should do that. You might post a question in the iPhoto forum.

Connect the phone directly to the computer, not a hub.
Disconnect all other USB devices except keyboard and mouse.
Disable your firewall
Disable your antivirus
In iTunes if it recognizes the phone click "Restore"
If it doesn't recognize the phone:
Disconnect the phone from the phone end, leave the USB cable plugged into the computer
Hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons until the screen turns black, excactly 10 seconds, then release the SLEEP but continue holding the HOME (If an Apple logo appears you have held SLEEP too long; do it over)
While holding HOME connect the cable to the phone
As soon as iTunes recognizes the phone release the HOME button and it should restore.
If neither procedure works note the exact error message and post it.

i have tried deleting my messages 3 times and everytime they go away but m phone freezes so i turn it off. But when i turn it back on all the messages i have deleted reappear. Also i have not gotten several texts that people have sent me.

After you restored it to factory settings, did you restore as new or from a backup? If it was from a backup, I'd try restoring as new to see if, without any of your previous data, the issue persists:

not all mail providers sync the send mail part of the mail box
you can try to contact yahoo if this is the case with them

Do you set all the email information correctly?
Can you send/receive emails? If you are often receiving a message on the screen like "cannot contact the server...", check in Settings >> Mail, Contacts, Calendars >> "your name account", if all the fields are filled properly.
You must also turn off Restrictions in: Settings >> General >> Restrictions, because have an option " Allow Alterations - Accounts" that it maybe prevent alterations in your email account.

On the Mac version try Control Clicking the individual messages concerned.
I am not sure why you iPad is reacting differently from your other iOS device.
