Why do FCP X and QT Player 10 only see the audio content of these files?
Using FCP 7 I converted 20 VHS tapes to DV PAL, some with a Datavideo DAC 100 and some with my Canon HV20 camera's A - D conversion facility.
All the videos play perfectly in QT Player 7 although for some reason 5 of the files have generic QT icons and behave like audio-only files when played in QT Player 10. (The OK files have a poster frame type appearance)
I can't remember which converter created these 5 videos but a VideoSpec analysis reveals no difference between these and the "good" ones.
When imported into FCP X these 5 appear as green "audio-only" files in both the Event Browser and Timeline.
I have found a workaround . . . . simply open in QT 7 and "Save As" produces new fully functional files . . . . but it doesn't explain what caused the problem.
Any ideas?
Please disregard this posting. I took the old file and ran it thru compressor in a 422 format and now everything works fine and only took about 10 minutes per hour of video. I don't know how to cancel a request and I'm really pressed for time. Thank you.

When I use the selection tool to move vector points and bend edges, I only see the change in wire frame. Once I commit by letting go of the mouse button, the object does change. It just previews with a wire frame. I would like to see the preview change on the solid object. Is there a setting somewhere?

What do you mean by wire frame??And are you using selection or sub-selection tool since you have mentioned about vector point I doubt if it is sub-selection tool.Could you please attach a video demonstrating the issue where we see the mismatch in the preview and the output, so that we can understand the problem better and try to resolve it.

Why am I getting a blue box with question mark instead of logo image? It happens in my signature (in gmail) and in mailchimp (again, only with the logo).
The question mark in the box, if it looks like this: means that safari cannot find the linked image. On windows machines, this would be the equivilant of the small "page-with-a-red-X" logo that appears in the same scenario. Check the reference to the image and make sure that the image is in the correct location, and is accessable by the reference.

I tried playing a you tube video, but received a message prompt to download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. The link to Adobe stated that there are issues with MAC OS X 10.7 and Flash Player 10.3. The new version did not download. Any Suggestion

Thanks Eric, but that was already turned on. I just now tried turning it off and on again, no change. Actually, I"m more interested in seeing the names than the pictures. I now only see the phone numbers and generic avatars where pics would be.

Why do I only get the audio when I play video files?
I only receive the audio portions when I play video files. The video is blank/black. This is happening with mpg., avchd and the videos posted to websites; YouTube, Facebook etc. The only video files I can play are windows media files. It is most likely that the various files contain CODEC's, that are either not installed on your computer, or PrE is not able to use them.
You list several file types, and I would urge you to first see this FAQ Entry, then get one of the file info utilities, linked in it, G-Spot, MediaInfo, or MediaInspector, then post the details on the various CODEC's: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/440037?tstart=0
Also, that WMP cannot play the video indicates the likelihood of a CODEC issue.
Try either of the great, free media players, VLC Player, or MediaPlayer Classic HC. Both contain many useful CODEC's, but they do NOT install them into the OS.

I imported a video and when I play it back, the audio does not match the video. When I view the tape in my camera it looks fine. I've tried imported twice and each time it doesn't match. What can I do to fix this?
The default settings mostly likely use an audio sample rate of 32k. This doesn't work probably in FCP. You're probably better off capturing the tape in iMovie.

If it wasn't purchased in the Middle East, try checking Settings, then General, the Restrictions and make sure FaceTime is not turned off. Also, you know that FaceTime does not have its own application, but is accessed from the Contacts application, right?

Sounds like the viewer is in wireframe mode or is alpha display mode. If this isn't the case you need to go to the Final Cut Studio forum and give more details. -
