Why do I continually get this message?

"There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (null)" when trying to purchase FCP

What are you doing when you get the message?
You may need to rebuild permissions on your user account. To do this, boot to your Recovery partition (holding down the Command and R keys while booting) and open Terminal from the Utilities menu. In Terminal, type:  ‘resetpassword’ (without the ’s), hit return, and select the admin user. You are not going to reset your password. Click on the icon for your Macs hard drive at the top. From the drop down below it select the user account which is having issues. At the bottom of the window, you'll see an area labeled Restore Home Directory Permissions and ACLs. Click the reset button there. The process takes a few minutes. When complete, restart.

    I've got the same problem.
It wasn't the case before the upgrade to v 9.2 (Iphoto 11) yesterday.
The previous solution preferences - advanced - "select a store" (last option) doesn't solve it anymore.
    Thanks!

    Did you reset Firefox recently?
If that is the case then you may have lost intermediate certificates that were stored in the cert8.db file in the Firefox profile folder.
Check out why the site is untrusted (see the Technical details) and if this is caused by a missing intermediate certificate then see if you can install this intermediate certificate from another source.
Some firewalls monitor secure (https) connections and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate.
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.

  • The name of your computer "Alpha (3376)" is already in use on this network. The name has been changed to "Alpha (6759)".  Why do I keep getting this message?

I keep getting this message every time I log in.  Why?   I have an iMac with sharing on for my networked printer and to share file between the iMac and my MacBook.  Can anyone help?

This is an annoying but not disastrous thing. Your computer sends messages on your home network and each message includes its name. If your computer is restarted or if it goes to sleep and wakes up all those messages should now gone but sometimes when the computer reconnects to the network it picks up a message with its name in it. Your computer doesn't realize its an old message from itself, it thinks the message is from a computer with the same name and that's not permitted so your computer's name is automatically changed.
Temporary solution (or not): turn everything off - your computers, printers, internet modem and router; any and all devices that are connected to your network. Then restart them. I hear about this issue all the time and this solution has been temporary for some people (days, weeks, or months) and for others it has seemingly solved it totally.

  • Why do I still get this message on my homepage?

For the last month it seems, I have been getting this message on my home page. The message is "Status updates have been upgraded with new functionality. To preview its replacement - check out the new "Community Activity Widget". Select 'personalize' then 'Reset To Default'."
    Will it ever go away?
    Robert

I was getting a bit annoyed at that and simply clicked on "close" (I believe that was the option) and it went away......
Note: I fell for it in the beginning: if you click on the reset to default, all your personalized settings will disappear and you have to do it again.....

  • Why do I constantly get this message: Unresponsive Script, A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.

I get this pop up screen continuously on my screen. Ever since I switched to Firefox, I was using Safari. The only other Apps open are my Mac Mail and Finder.
A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. Script: http://static.ak.fbcdn.net/rsrc.php/v1/yY/r/BaybJiEemV4.js:13

Looks like a script on the Facebook page.

  • Why Do I Keep Getting This Message???

All of a sudden and without me changing any preferences, I have started to get a message that tells me to go online to read the email even though the account is online. This is what the message looks like:
+The message from Facebook <[email protected]> concerning “Michelle Hupke Kuriger sent you a message on Facebook...” has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it.+
Does anyone know why this would suddenly start happening and what I can do to get it to stop? Thanks!
    Kathy

Kathy, you are not supposed to put your email address in Apple Discussions. It will be "harvested" by spammers.
There are two ways to make it available:
Put it in you Apple Discussion profile
Post it as itsmkg (at) comcast (dot) net
A Discussion moderator will remove your email address soon.

  • Why do I continually get the message about "... a script on this page..."?? Happens many, many times during the day, and requires a click on that box to get rid of it... until next time!

I haven't written down the remainder of the message in the dialogue box; I think it continues with "...has stopped running...", or, "... has stopped working...". If I don't choose one of the two buttons, and try to continue whatever it was that I was doing, the the 'preferred' button blinks / flashes until I select one of those two buttons. Only then can I continue with my interrupted task.
This does NOT happen with IE... and never did.

That is a problem with an AVG extension (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions)
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]

  • Why do I keep getting this message when I try to go back to previous page? "object moved to here"

This is so annoying. I use ancestry.com a lot and after I look at a census or a person on ancestry.com, I try to use the back arrow to go back to the page I started on and the screen goes white and it says "object moved to here." The "here" is a link, but it doesn't work to get me back to the page I want. I have to use the back arrow several times and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, then I have to start ancestry all over again. This is so annoying!

This is likely an issue with the site and you'll have to contact them and ask them to fix it. But a link to a public page where this happens and lets us reproduce the problem might be helpful.
