Why do I find unknown e-mail addresses when I begin to type in a known address?

I'm using an IMac and am up to date on my version of OSX, V10.8.4 and have discovered a problem with Mail. When I want to send an e-mail I will type in the address. The first letter of that address triggers a drop down box showing all the e-mail addresses starting with that letter that are in the system. I started to look thru the llist of addresses and found some e-mail addresses of people that are not in my address book and I have never sent to or received from. Where do they come from?

As the folder indicates they were "Previous recipietns". Perhaps you replied some passed around emails from friends with more than one email address in the address panel (cc: or bcc:)?

Notes keeps e-mailing my notes to an unknown e-mail address.

For some strange reason whenever I write in and then close a note/text file in the "Notes" application, my iPhone then e-mails it to an unknown e-mail address. I can see the phone's "working" icon start spinning at the top of the phone's screen, and since I have the default settings in Notes configured to cc me on all e-mailed notes, I get a copy in my inbox. I want to make it very clear: I am *not* hitting the e-mail button to send these e-mails. Notes is doing it all on its own.
The destination address shows as "undisclosed-recipient", with my e-mail address as the cc.
This is a GROSS violation of security to have the app sending MY personal notes to an unknown e-mail address!! I've thoroughly checked the preferences and NO WHERE is there an option to turn this on or off.
WHY is the app doing this and HOW do I turn it off? At the very least I want to transfer off my text content and delete the application.

hi, Why would I need another e-mail address. When .me came out I thought that .mac would be erased so I gave everyone my .me account (even though I prefered the .mac name) the .mac continued to work and now everyone sends me TWO e-mails which arrive at exactly the same place. I can understand if the e-mails arrive at different mail boxes, then you could give your family one, your business another, your kids school a third, but why... why 3 accounts that go to exactly the same place. I realise I don't have to use all 3 but can someone tell me how to get the most out of these e-mail addresses. Thanks!

Just give out the one email address you want to use. They are all the same account anyway. People do not need to send emails to both email addresses so tell them to only use the one you prefer.

Hi,
From the printer Front panel, navigate to Setup. Locate and enter Web Services. Aprove any of the steps to enable the service... allow the device several minutes to complete the registration, a page will print automatically with the printer code and the directions to select the email address from hpeprint.com.

If you mean the email address, there is none. Apple doesn't provide a support email address.

Finding out e-mails addresses

I am closing down an e-mail address because of too much spam. I wanted to send a "mass" e-mail to all the e-mail addresses in the sent folder (after editing them) to give my new e-mail address. Is there a way to get these addresses without doing it manually (since I don't have all e-mails on my address book)?

There are several steps involved, and you will need the Numbers application from iLife or Excel; otherwise you'll have to do the hard part by hand, which could take awhile and is tedious.
1. Select all the Sent messages and Save As… Raw Message Source; name the file "sentfile" (without the quotes) and save it to your Desktop.
2. In Terminal, type cd ~/Desktop and press Return.
3. Copy/paste this command in Terminal and press Return:
grep '^From ' sentfile | awk '{ print $2 }' | sort | uniq > sent-messages
Then copy/paste this command and press Return:
grep '@' sent-messages > complete-list
Next, add the .txt extension to the last file and open the "complete-list.txt" file using Numbers or Excel. Then Save As… or Export (depending on the options for the program you have) the file as a CSV file.
Then open that "complete-list.csv file in Numbers or Excel, Select All the items in the list and Copy them; open a new message window in Mail and Paste the list into the BCC field, which should all be separated by commas, and put your own address in the To: field. Type your message and Send it.
If you have neither of these programs or even a trial of Office:Mac, you should download the Office:Mac trial if you can, or you'll have to open the "complete-list.txt file in TextEdit, remove the carriage returns manually and then add commas between each email address and Save it, then copy/paste those entries into the BCC field in Mail.

Unknown e-mail addresses appearing as options

When choosing an e-mail to send to, there are various e-mails that appear as options that I don't recognise. They are not in my contacts, and aren't addresses I've previously mailed. I would like to delete them, so they do not appear as options in future. Any suggestions as to how I can delete them/stop them appearing?

I have this issue too.
for me there is a mix of 1) emails I have never used, but appear to be one of many variations of my email (typical of mass mailing lists used for spamming), 2) email address I have used, but are not "mine", eg billing department, and 3) email addresses that are inactive since a long time ago, but have been used in the past.
I have not found any way to find them in the contacts or delete them.

if his account has a billing or purchase history in the last 6 months, you/he can request for a new password without the need of his registered email address. just click the link below;

You can also use the Add/Search contact window to check the email addresses that he possibly registered in his account (assuming that it has an activity in the last 6 months). Just enter the possible email address in the email address field.

Occasionally the server runs slow. If you're still having problems getting your printers email address try the following:
1) Turn OFF the wireless radio
2) Perform Restore Network defaults from the printer menu
3) Turn OFF the printer and unplug the power cable from the back. Wait for 5 min
4) Reconnect the power cable and turn ON the printer
5) Run the wireless setup wizard from the printer menu.
6) check if you are able to print and scan
7) "Remove Web Services" from the printer menu and wait for 2 minutes
8) "Enable Web Services" from the menu and wait.

There is no email address for Apple Support, since Apple does not provide support via email (except for the iTunes Store). You will need to call Apple support and ask for further assistance.
By the way, everyone here is just a fellow user, so posting any personal details here including case numbers is a bad idea.

HOw do I complain to Apple in writing? I can't find an e-mail address.

How can I complain in writing to Apple? I bought my daughter and son bought an iPhone each the christmas before last. Both had to be replaced just at 12 months due to hardware problems. Now her replacement won't connect to Wifi (it hasn't been able to for a few months). I took it to Apple who said it is now outwith the warranty (this second phone is only 7 months old) because it was a replacement and want me to buy a new one. I think this is shocking. The guarantee period needs to be changed. This phone is still only 7 months old despite it being a replacement. No reasonable person spends hundreds of pounds on a phone for it to last less than a year. I am not happy despite being a great Apple fan and I have many Apple products.
