Why do I get a white background when pasting into Word

I am brand new to Photoshop and can't find an answer for this anywhere. Please help: When I open my company's logo (an EPS file) in Photoshop, it has a transparent background (the "checkered" one), which I DO want. But then when I Select All/Copy/Paste Special into my Word documents, it comes over with a white background. I do not want this, especially because the Word document has a gray background. So what happens is, the logo looks like it has a white box around it. HOW do I copy and paste this EPS file into Word so that the background stays transparent?? Thank you!

Have you tried "Inserting" it rather than copy/paste?
The Insert Picture dialog does list EPS as an option.

I have made JPGs of my letter headding to paste into Word documents. When I paste them they look like a big black box. It doesn't even seem consistant, sometimes it works mostly it doesn't. How can I fix this issue?

How are you "pasting" them? If you are exporting JPG from Illustrator use Worst's Insert > Picture > From File. PNG would probably be a better option for your export, though.

when i lift the screen to log in to an account a get a 'white screen' the machine does not respond to any key(s). If I held doden the power button, I can re-boot and all is fixed untill the next time.... Maybe once a month this happens?

Why do I get a white screen when playing movies?

Recently, for no apparent reason, when I play movies on my AppleTV 1st gen, the screen is completely white, no picture or sound. When I play TV shows, everything works like a charm. But whether they are movies I already own, or movies I rent, there is only a white screen and no sound. Anyone have any ideas?

Try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds, or resetting it using the reset option under general.

Why do I get a black version when I convert my document to PDF?

I have been using Microsoft Publisher 2007 with XP to produce a newsletter for over 11/2 years. Today when I converted the file to PDF it is black with all kinds of wierd colors. It looks nothing like the document I produced. This has never happened before. The PDF version last month looked exactly like the white background document I produced with all the fonts in the right colors, including the pictures. This one looks like a 4 year old got ahold of it and colored it any way she wanted. Nothing looks the same as my document. What happened?

I found out that if I waited about 15 minutes the PDF file became normal. Thank heavens! I've now sent out my newsletter for my Quilt Club to our 90 e-mail subscribers and all of them I have heard from have gotten it the way I had written it. It must just have been a quirk that happened, but I sure am glad it fixed itself. I only have 5 more newsletters to write and then I am done. Thank Heaven. Thank you for trying to help. I was about to become even more crazed than I get when I have to publish the newsletter. I do it once a month and I never would have volunteered for the 2 year job if I had know how much work it is. My husband walks gently when he knows I am trying to put the newsletter together. I'm not usually crabby, but this has made me a nut case once a month. It's a good thing we've been married for 37 years, so he knows that it is only the "newsletter editor nutty lady" that is getting mad at everything and everyone, including him! While editing saved PSD files, png elements have a white background when resized

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. When I open a psd file that I previously worked on and saved, when I try to resize or in some way change the different elements(layers) of the layout, they get a white background inside the bounding box for that layer. The different elements(layers) where pulled in from png files that had transparent backgrounds. When I initially resize or change those layers the white background doesn't appear. It only happens when I reopen the saved psd file to make some changes to it. What do I need to do to stop that from happening?

You can't drag from the project bin in PSE 6 and 7. Items you move this way become a kind of semi-smart object on a special passthrough layer. Use copy/paste or drag from the layers palette of the png file into the main image window of the psd file.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Extensions tab. If you have any installed, turn that off, then relaunch Safari. Try a PDF file.
If it's not Extensions, open a Finder window. Select MacintoshHD in the Sidebar on the left. Now open the Library folder then the Internet Plug-Ins folder. If you see any files such as this:
AdobePDF Browser or Viewer Plug-in
Move it to the Trash, relaunch Safari.

Knowing wht version of Pages you are using, what template you are attempting to open, and what error message Pages is sending you might help determine why you are getting that specific rror message. Without those, the first sentence above i pretty much all that can be said with any assurance.

Open Pictures folder and move the files named lrcat-journal and lrcat.lock to Desktop.
Make sure that , they are not inside Pictures folder any more and try to open backup from Lighrtroom and check..
Any LRcat file with .lock extension , move it to Desktop.

I went through the forums and made sure that any blocks or copywrites weren't triggered by the file, it's clean and can be opened using a media player and other video editing software like windows MovieMaker. I keep getting "The importer reported a generic error" message and have no idea how to proceed. Can someone please help?

Without knowing much more about your system, it is impossible to say much beyond that WMV's are tough assests to work with, requiring a lot of CPU horsepower.
