Why do I get an Adobe Error 14 when I try to open PDF files?

My laptop uses Adobe touch. I downloaded Adobe Acrobat trial to see if it was a program that could easily covert PDF's to excel. I have not made it to that point because after the download of the  Adobe Acrobat Trial it disabled the adobe touch program and now when I try to open my existing PDF', an error message comes up.
can anyone help me?

Hi MsSunnyD,
Try uninstalling Adobe Acrobat using the Adobe cleaner Tool  http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, try installing Adobe Reader XI. That should resolve the problem.

  • Why do I get only a black screen when I try to download PDF files?

Why do I get only a black screen when I try to download PDF files?  I have the latest version of Adobe Reader.
This problem just started a few weeks ago.
I am still using Snow Leopard.
I have tried using Firefox instead of Safari, but still get the black screen.

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Get a general error message when I try to open one file

I am having trouble with one file. It was working fine and today I tried to open it and it wouldn't open. I can open any other FCP file and I can open only the older versions from the autosave vault. Any body have any ideas how I might get the file to open?

    Welcome to the forum.
It is highly likely one of the files in the project is corrupted or the project file itself is corrupted.
    Try this:
Move your media to a different folder or rename the folder where all the media is located.
Launch FCP. If it starts, most, if not all of the material in the browser will show being "offline". Reconnect one by one until the program crashes.
The one that jams up the works is bad and needs to be either recaptured or recreated.
If the program will not launch that project file, you are going to be stuck using one of your backups from the autosave vault. Be glad you have one.
    Good luck.

  • I get no network path found when i try to open a file

when i try to open a file i get a message no network path foun and cannot open them.

This seems to be a particularly unhelpful message; no path that would indicate what is wrong!
All I can suggest is that you try to uninstall, then reinstall Reader.

  • CS6 on Windows 7 - when I try and send my project to Adobe Link, then to Encore I repeatedly get the error message "Encore has stopped working, windows will close the program".  I get the same error message when I try and open Encore on its own.  Help wou

Now that is impressive Stan, thankyou!  So simple ...  I don't suppose you know why the "build" button is greyed out do you?  Don't worry if you don't have more "magic dust" at your fingertips, I'll re-check my settings again, and again ...  Thanks for your help.  Doreen.

  • I get this message when I try to open .pdf files in Mozilla: There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again. (1014:1014)

What can I do to get this to work?

We were getting the same error on a Win 7 machine which had Acrobat 7 (running in compatability mode) and Reader X installed.  When the user was trying to open the link from an email the error 'There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat.....(0:521) would appear and the pdf would not load.
Investigating the problem I can across an article to uncheck the option "Display PDF in browser" (in the application choose Edit -> Preferences -> Internet).  Undertaking this procedure in Acrobat Reader X however, I could not uncheck this and the path the app was showing was for Acrobat 7!?!
Therefore, opened Acrobat 7 and undertook the same procedure.  Unchecked the "Display PDF in browser" (in the application choose Edit -> Preferences -> Internet) which I was able to do, saved and closed the application.
Rechecked Acrobat X and the "Display PDF in browser" could be deselected and the path was now for ..\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe
Retried the original email with the link to the pdf and it now opens without error.
Not too sure if this will help but just thought I would share.

  • I have had Adobe for several years and recently have had a consistent problem -- always getting an "error" message when I try to open PDFs.

What can I do to fix Adobe? I cannot open any PDFs, always getting an "error" message.

Adobe is a company with many products, which specific one are you talking
about? And what version of it? And what's your OS? And what exactly is
    the error message you're getting?

  • Why am I getting an FTP Error code when I try to publish my Website?

Every time I go to publish my website from iWeb to my Yahoo domain, it completes everything EXCEPT the background part. I end up getting an FTP Server Error Code. I have called Yahoo about the issue and they were not able to help. I have checked my file names for spaces. I have checked my FTP address. I have checked just about everything, this is becoming quite aggravating! Please, someone help?

Unfortunately, Yahoo is notorious for being less than good at hosting with iWeb sites.
Perhaps look into changing your web hosting to somewhere like http://www.godaddy.com or http://www.hostexcellence.com.

  • I get error message when I try to open PDF's that I have downloaded from the web- document cannot be opened it is either not a supported file type or the file has been damaged. Need help

Is this how I start my new thread?

    Thanks.
"Can you right-click, save the pdf file to your desktop (or wherever) then open it using File>Open in Reader?" I tried and was not successful.
I do not know ow to access the PDF viewer of Safari, and BTW the problem may lie in the fact that i have not upgraded from 10.8.5.
And I do not know where the "open with" box might be or if it is a global or app-attached box.
