Why do I get sent to the User Login screen to enter my password after sleep?

On OSX Lion, 10.7.4. I recently had to reinstall the OS on a new hard drive in my iMac and now have an issue with it that I never had before.
After prolonged periods of sleep (I haven't determined what the minimum length is before this will happen), when I come to wake the computer it shows me the User Login screen. Under my user icon is an orange checkmark, presumably to show that I am the user logged in. Otherwise it is exactly the same as the User Login screen one gets when the computer boots up. I select my user icon and enter my password and the computer unlocks.
I haven't got this set up anywhere, that I know of. I don't have the 'Security & Privacy - Require password for sleep and screen saver' option checked, never have. If I do turn that on just to check, it's a very different password screen, a little popup window in the centre of the dimmed screen.
How do I turn this feature off?

Sounds like you may have deleted something you shouldn't have. Boot to an OS X DVD or a bootable backup, and using Disk Utility, do a repair disk, and while there repair permissions. Disconnect any peripherals, and reboot. If you get the same startup behavior, do a safe boot, by holding the shift key down when booting. If that works, try a normal boot. If neither step helps, you may need to relaod your operating system.

I have an iMac 8, 1 that I upgraded Leopard to Snow Leopard. It was totally updated with the latest from Apple when I bought and tried installing Lion. The upgrade failed, shot my OS and I couldn't boot. Had the constant spinner on a grey screen.. did a format of the drive, hdd repair and everything came back clean... got back to Snow Leopard and all the updates on it again and then retried the Lion thing... same bs... dead duck. Crashed my system one too many times. I can't see where a few small changes, mostly app related can be classified as an OS upgrade and is not compatible with my iMac. I have the stuff running on my Mac Pro but have yet to notice anything impressive. I've always used F3 and really didn't require Mission Control. Just open you app folder for launch pad... duh? I use the hot corners anyhow. As far as Safari is concerned... as a power user, Apple missed the boat on that for me.. full screen etc.. Wow. I don't like the new Mail either..
As you can see/read, I'm less than impressed with this release from Apple but I own so many of their products that I will have to put up with it for now... somehow the MS logo should apply to this release Steve. -
How do I re-install the OS if I can't get past the user login screen?
Hi. I recently was given a Mac mini. Great right? Problem is, it's used and it has two users with password protection and there us no way to get in touch with those people to get their passwords and log in.
I thought I would just try putting in the OS X install disk and re-install the system and start fresh. I tried holding down the C key while starting up the computer. It still goes to the log in screen. Does that sound right? I tried that a few times, tried starting up in safe mode... every time it just goes to the log in screen. How do I get passed this? Are there any other ways to wipe the hard drive clean and do a clean re-install of the OS and not have to deal with the log in screen???

When reinstalling OS X I get sent to the Open Firmwear screen??
I have been having troubles with my G4, one day i turned it on and it just went to a blue screen, so i read a few threads about it and how i might go about fixing it and have tried everything. I am now trying to re-install OS X. when I turn it on, i press opt and choose the OS X install dvd, it then takes me to the firmwear screen. I dont knwo what to do from here? can any one help me please?

Freezes when I try to log in and goes back to the user menu screen every time.
A few weeks ago I was on Google Chrome and it froze up a little bit. The bell rang for me to go to my next class so I shut my MacBook Pro and was on my way. Later, I opened my laptop to see Chrome still frozen on my screen even though I have it set to require a password after the laptop has been in sleep mode.
I restarted my MacBook and tried logging in. I got the beachball spinny wheel cursor thing, the screen froze for a few seconds, and it went back to the user login screen. I have tried safe booting it, restarting it many times, and many other things but this problem is still happening and I cannot log into my main account.
I had that main account account and a guest account so I logged into the guest, set it as an administrative account, and have been using that account ever since. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome. It sucked but hasn't been too big of a problem because I have just been spotlight searching files whenever I need them.
Now another problem is coming up. My iTunes. I cannot access my normal iTunes library from this guest account. I want to put some new songs on my iPhone but can't.
Does anybody know how I may be able to fix the logging in issue to my main account?

this usually happens when a user moves or deletes files in the finder - a sure way to upset iTunes.
did you move or delete files in the finder ?

if you let iTunes manage your library, all your content will be in <MacintoshHD>/users/<yourname>/music/iTunes/iTunes music (or media)/music. did you look there ? tried a spotlight search ?

Sounds like vignetting, but you need to ask that on an iPad forum not the iPhoto for Mac one.

Try to connect your ipad to itunes, if it does let you then you should be able to select the device you have in the corner somewhere, once you do that you should see a screen that looks sort of like your ipads setting, you should have a button that says "Restore" click that and your ipad should be restored. If that dosent work you should try going to your regular office depot or something. Good Luck!

Batch ABAP uses GET PARAMETER of the user
Dear all,
I have the following curious effect when I start an ABAP in Batch. There are some selection criteria with a GET PARAMETER which are blocked in the variant. In dialog everything works fine. In batch mode the variant in SM37 is also correct. Example code :
select-options:
p_land1 for kna1-land1 memory id lan,
p_kunnr for kna1-kunnr memory id kun.
But when I switch on the ALV display of the selection the empty fields connected to a GET PARAMETER now have the values of GET PARAMETER of the user who runs the ABAP and the data base selctions get wrong !
I tried to scan OSS but there is either too much information or not the right one.
SAP is ECC6.0 and ABAP/Basis is on 70014

Rabanus DiehlI finally decided to open an OSS call and the result is that there is an inconsistency in the handling of SPA/GPA parameters in batch mode. Those parameters which are on the main screen will not be filled by GPA mechanism but those on Subscreens will be filled !
SAP considers it illogic as well, but they hesitate to correct the error, because batch jobs at customers may be influenced.
My impression is that, if someone has recognized this illogic behaviour at all, he has switched off the GPA handling in his program, which is my workaround as well. But I doubt that there were many people recognizing this problem.
So if someone stumbled over it, please feel free to comment.

Why am I getting a message,"the item you are trying to buy is no longer available" when I bought it months ago and have reinstalled several times. As recent as last night.
The item may have been removed either permanently or temporarily between now and when you last downloaded it. There may be an problem with the App Store or your connection to it. Have you tried resetting your device by pressing and holding the Home button and power button until the silver apple appears? Try waiting a couple of hours and trying again.
