Why do I get sometimes my macbook to do white noise out of the blue

Why do I get sometimes my macbook to do white noise out of the blue? It's a new mac so is it faulty?

Never heard of that problem - seems as if something may be affecting your speakers, somehow.
If you're still under warranty, you should take your machine to your local Apple Store or an AASP and have them check it out. Even if you're not still under warranty, the diagnosis and estimate for repair will be free.
Good luck,
Clinton

  • MacBook Pro made beeping sound out of the blue

Volume is muted and no webpage with sound is up.  Is this a warning sign? If so, of what?

Some hard drives beep on occasion -- the reason/meaning is unclear. If your machine is under warranty, have it checked out at an Apple Store or AASP. Be sure to mention the beeping, and that the speakers were muted at the time. Keep your data backed up at frequent intervals, just in case.

Why do I get a permanent wait icon and Basic C notice on the task bar on my XP when I burn disks using iTunes? How do I get rid of the wait icon when I leave iTunes?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

why do I get a darker printed picture than what I see on the screen of my iMac

Because your screen is calibrated incorrectly? Because you are using an Adobe RGB color profile instead of the recommended sRGB? Because your printer is not working correctly?
With no information other than "it does not work" guesses are all that one can provide
What set up do you have? What color profile are you using? How is your screen calibrated?
What else can you tell us?

  • Why is my WiFi connection dropping as soon as I walk out of the room where my router is located? Running OSX 10.6.8

Why is my WiFi connection dropping as soon as I walk out of the room where my router is located? Running OSX 10.6.8
Had ISP provider here multiple times. They switched out the router/modem on 4 occasions. They ran new fiber optic cables to my house. They sent a PC tech here with a Mac, and he was able to get a strong wireless connection, but mine, he said, was "weak."
I called Apple support. They had me remove the battery and clear the PRAM. It didn't help.
There's no point in having a wireless connection if I cannot walk 20 feet away from the router without losing the connection.
Do I need a new Airport Extreme card?
How much would it cost to get one, and what is the process of getting it installed? (no longer under warranty)
    Deb Goonan

My ISP replaced my router FOUR times. I don't think that's the problem.
We already tried chanign the channel multiple times, channels 1, 6, 11 and even 9 and 4
    No luck

  • Out-of-the-blue (weird) problems: MacBook & Airport

Everything has been working fine with my wi-fi network for going on two years I guess. Then... out-of-the-blue problems...
The major problem is getting online from my MacBook Pro... at first everytime I signed on I'd be asked for the password... then a connection error popup would come up... Now my MacBook gets signal from the Base Station, but I can't use a browser or Mail...
Everything appears fine at the Base Station... it's connected to a G4 and I can web browse and see mail there...
I disconnected the Airport Express which boosts the signal downstairs... no matter what I did, it just seemed to complicate matters...
Have looked for and used (as best I could) the tech dox I could find, but few seem to relate directly to this sort of problem...
Any ideas would be gratefully received! Thanks.

Ok, if you don't mind, let's start from scratch.
Let's start by connecting your MacBook directly, using an Ethernet cable, to your Cable modem. Can you access the Internet now? If so, perform a "hard reset" on your AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS), and a "factory default reset" on your AirPort Express Base Station (AX).
    Then, let's setup the AEBS...
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling
o Power-off the Cable modem, AEBS, & computer(s); Wait for at least 5 minutes.
o Connect the modem, using an Ethernet cable to the WAN port of the AEBS.
o Power-on the Cable modem; Wait at least 15 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBS; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
    Setup the AEBS
Temporarily, connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the LAN port of the AEBS, and then, check these settings:
    AirPort tab
o Base Station Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
o AirPort Network Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
o Create a closed network (unchecked)
    o Wireless Security: Not enabled
    o Channel: Automatic
    o Mode: 802.11b/g Compatible
    Internet tab
    o Connect Using: Ethernet
    o Configure: Using DHCP
    o WAN Ethernet Port: Automatic
    Network tab
    o Distribute IP addresses (checked)
o Share a single IP address (using DHCP & NAT) (enabled)
Click Apply and allow at least 5 minutes to allow the AEBS to restart. Once restarted, and while your computer is still connected to the AEBS's LAN port, try to access the Internet. Successful?

  • Out of the blue, my AppleTV went to a screen that had two icons, Computers and Settings. Why won't it go the the usual TV screen with viewing options? Help!

Out of the blue, my AppleTV went to a screen that had two icons, Computers and Settings. Why won't it go the the usual TV screen with viewing options? Help!

Here's what finally worked for me with Apple TV 3rd generation. Out of the box, when setup with wi-fi, it breezed through without any issue. As soon as I powered down and connected it to another tv (same wi-fi network), it got stuck at setting date/time. The remote would help in getting out of it, but the home would only have "Computers" and "Settings" and pretty much useless except for AirPlay. Here's what I did to resolve this:
    1. On your main router, temporarily disable the firewall or set it to the lowest setting allowable (a reboot of the router maybe required).
    2. Restart apple tv via the "restart" option in the "General" option in the main settings menu.
    3. It should breeze through and not show the "Setting date/time" screen.
    4. Once it loads up properly, turn on your fire wall as before  (a reboot of the router maybe required).
I think it worked for me out of the box, but auto-update to the latest software introduced this bug. So, everytime apple tv tries to synch with the time server, this issue will come back. To disable this, I turned off the "auto time synch" option in Settings -> General.
I am fairly confident that I'd be able to use steps 1 through 4 anytime this recurs. Possible scenarios causing recurrence of this issue:
    1. Unplugging the power to apple tv or power failures.
    2. OS updates.
    3. Restoring apple tv using "Restore" or via micro-usb and iTunes to the lastest OS.
Hope this helps. Please post if this works for you.

  • I have a macbook that is white and it has the osx version 10.6.8, can i upgrade to mountain lion

I have a macbook that is white and it has the osx version 10.6.8,  can i upgage to Mountain Lion?

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.

  • All of my purchased ringtones and songs dissapeared out of the blue. How do I get them back without having to buy them all over again?

Out of the blue, all of my purchased ringtones and music aren't displayed anymore on my iPhone.
I went to iTunes to see if they were stored there, but the downloads folder also appears to be empty. If I try to select a ringtone I've downloaded before, a popup appears saying that I've already purchased that item and asking if I want to cancel or buy. If I click on buy, then I pay for the item again even if I already have it! The only place I can still see my purchased items is in the iTunes application on my computer, but even though I've already selected sync, the ringtones and songs still won't appear on my iPhone.
What happeneded and how can I get them back without having to pay for them all over again?
    Thank you!

I'm having the same problem on an iphone 4s running iOS8; when i updated to iOS8, all my ringtones went missing, and when i got a £50 gift card for christmas (2014), I purchased some songs from the iTunes store on my iPhone. i downloaded songs from paramore, panic! at the disco, coldplay, and imagine dragons, over wi-fi, and they went into my iphone music library; but when i re-opened the music app a few days later, in a place where i had no wi-fi, except for my 3G phone signal, some cloud icons appeared next to my newly purchased songs, telling me to re-download them from the cloud, when i haven't even deleted them. this has happened twice now, and i had to use up some of my 5GB data allowance to redownload them from the cloud. This is annoying and i need to fix this issue ASAP.

Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app.  I am certain other applications also need this information.  Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information.  Feel free to post additional information, faulty information, or other related topics below as this is simply a collection of data and it would be practically impossible to test all of them. Thank you!
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" if I helped solve your problem.

I have the same issue after installing the new update and reinstalling iTunes doesn't fix the issue.
I found disabling Apple push (APSDaemon.exe) from the start up will stop the error from appearing, however this will disable wireless syncing. If you don't use it than it shouldn't be an issue.
I'm using a PC so you can disable it using the msconfig command and turning it off in the Startup tab. I don't know if Mac users are experiencing the same issue. Hopefully Apple will fix it in their next update.

  • IMac is asking for admin login password upon startup when it never did before, settings are still on auto login. Why is it doing this out of the blue?

iMac is asking for admin login password upon startup when it never did before, settings are still on auto login. Why is it doing this out of the blue?

Is sounds like it might for some reason booting into Safe Mode, which does prompt for a password.
    Try a PRAM reset:
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
If that doesn't help, restart holding down the option key which should take you to the startup manager. Select Macintosh HD (you may need to use the arrows on the keyboard if the kb is Bluetooth), tap 'enter'. Does it boot normally now?
