  • When I start Firefox I get a menu box asking me to agree to let Firefox make changes to my computer. I click yes and the program opens and goes to my homepage. See Details below.

    When I attempt to open Firefox from my desktop icon a menu box appears and backscreen grays out and I can't access anything else except this menu box. top of menu box says User Account Control. Next line says: Do you want to allow Firefox to make changes to this computer? I can click Yes (Firefox opens) No (menu box closes Firefox doesn't open) A link I can click says "change when these notifications appear" When I click it the menu box closes, Firefox doesn't open & link does not take me to where I can change my user account controls. Annoying, I just want Firefox to open directly to my home page like it did in prior versions.

    Do a clean reinstall.
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 7.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
    * Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
    Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • How can I download Firefox without being asked for "permision to allow Firefox to make changes to my computer"?

    I've downloaded Firefox on several computers and have never had a problem in the past. You click the most recent version and the download process is just as described. However, this time around (maybe b/c I'm using Windows7?) I would click download, Run, and then it would ask if I would give Firefox permission to make changes to my computer. This sounds really weird, and I don't think I was asked that before. If I say no, the download remains incomplete. Why does this happen? And every time I click on the download link, the file name for where it's "From" differs. Why is that?

    Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator.
    Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
    In the Compatibility tab, make sure that Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" is not selected.
    You also need to check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program directory.

  • Continues to ask "do you want firefox to make changes to your computer". I click yes, but it still asks next time I open program

    I upgraded firefox. Since upgrading I am asked the above questions. If I ask the program to fix the problem I'm told the program in not compatible. I tried "go back to previous version". I don't think it did, and I'm still asked if I want Firefox to make changes. When I click yes, Firefox will open.
    But is will ask me again when I try to reopen.
    Everything else seems to work.
    Also can't seem to down load and get Plug Ins working.

    Which compatibility settings are you using?
    A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
    Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • When opening any website I get a message that windows can't find the file, after which Firefox opens the site. Why do I get the windows message?

    Using XP. I do not use Explorer, only Firefox. The windows message I get does not prevent Firefox from opening. This only happens when I first open Firefox. Once open, it does not happen again unless I close Firefox.

  • Why cannot i get the window class ?

    %cat test.R
    x <- read.csv("000301.csv")
    matplot(x[,1],x[,-1],type="l")
    In R
    > source("test.R")
    The drawing windows is displayed but not floating in xmonad. So i want to get its window class using xprop
    %xprop| grep -i class
    When clicking the drawing window, xprop outputs nothing ! (BTW, The drawing window can be floated by using mouse+modKey)
    Sincerely!

    Using xprop, i can get its wm_name
    %xprop|grep -i wm_name
    WM_NAME(STRING) = "R Graphics: Device 2 (ACTIVE)"
    In myManageHook, i add the following line:
    [name  =? n  --> doCenterFloat | n <- myNames]
    name = stringProperty "WM_NAME"
    myNames   = ["bashrun","Google Chrome Options","R Graphics: Device 2 (ACTIVE)"]
    But it doesnot work

  • Each time I bring up Firefox it first asks me if it is okay to make changes in my computer. Why?

    This question about making changes in my computer would be normal anytime a new program or a change in a program was about to occur. It makes no sense though in routinely openning a browser, and does not occur with other browsers

    Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator.
    Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
    Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.
    * Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
    * "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" should not be selected
    Also check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program directory.

  • I can't get the Firefox Disk Image to go away. I delete it after install, but everytime I open the program the program asks to be installed again. Help?

    I downloaded the update .DMG for 4.0.1 and installed the program to my applications folder like instructed. Then deleted the .dmg and "application disk image" (the icon looks like an external device on the desktop). But now every time I open Firefox, the program prompts me to install it to the applications folder again. Am I missing something?

    Thanx. I suspected it might have something to do with FF 4.0 still being in Beta. Guess I'm heading back to the old version until such time as the changes are made.
    Again, many thanx. Pete

  • How do I install the lastest Ver? Why do I get a Windows error message?

    I have Acrobat Pro 1.1.8. The Help menu command Check for Updates says NO UPDATES AVAILABLE.
    A tray message in Windows 7 (32 bit) says to SOLVE A PROBLEM WITH ADOBE ACROBAT... and it takes me to my download page at Adobe where Acrobat Pro versions 11.0.01 through 11.0.05 are listed.
    When I try to install any of the newer versions I get an error msg saying "...upgrade patch may update a different version of the program..."
    What is the latest Acrobat Pro Version? How do I install it? Why do I get the Window error message?

    Please try to install the Acrobat update manually from the following page:
    Acrobat X: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5641 (Acrobat X Pro 10.1.8)
    Acrobat XI : http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5643 (Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.0.4) and then

  • Hi. Downloads has changed; I cannot open or download attachments. I don't get the window that asked "Open" or "Save" either.

    When I receive an attached document (Word or OpenOffice), I click on it. I get a Norton Antivirus window that says it's clear and I click on the yellow Download button. Then nothing happens. 1. I don't get the windows that asked Open? or Save?. 2. The documents are not in the Download folder. 3. I reset the downloads to my Documents folder - nothing appears there either. 4. I search my iMac with the file names, and no results show up.

  • While installing Adobe Acrobat 8 on Windows 7 Professional why do I get the message "Adobe pdf.dll on windows Vista CD-ROM is needed.

    While installing Adobe Acrobat 8 on Windows 7 Professional, why do I get the messaage "Adobe pdf.dll on Windows Vista CD-ROM is needed"?

    Because your software is far too old for Windows 7.

    Hi.
    Does this only open on that specific site?
    In any case, you may want to:
    - instruct Firefox to handle PDF files in a specific way by going into Tools > Options > Applications and selecting the option you want for the PDF files
    - reinstall Adobe Reader and its Firefox plugin
    - install another reader instead of Adobe Reader. I recommend Foxit Reader ( http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/reader/ ), since it's free, VERY light, VERY fast, safe and also has a Firefox plugin (make sure you don't have both Adobe Reader plugin and Foxit Reader plugin enabled/installed at the same time in Firefox)
