Why do I get this message?

EXAMPLE.....
Safari can’t open “http://www.sandiegoarchaeology.org/PDF/Archaeology101.pdf” because Mac OS X doesn’t recognize Internet addresses starting with “http:”.
I'm new to Macs. ANY address using "http:" at the start of the address & it will not open. What gives?

I don't understand the message, but your clickable link has "%E2%80%9D" at the end of it. Try clicking http://www.sandiegoarchaeology.org/PDF/Archaeology101.pdf and see what happens.
