Why Do I Get Warning About "Stray Files?"

Hey, I’m just teaching myself iMovie (day 2) and I’m wondering why after I have saved a short “project” with only a few clips and transitions when I go to open it again a window pops up informing me that several clips where found in the trash? The actual message reads, “Some stray files were found in the project. Files that iMovie can understand are in the iMovie’s Trash. Any other files have been moved into the Finder’s Trash. Would you like to view iMovie’s Trash content’s now?” And I get two choices, “Don’t View Trash” & “View Trash” So I panic because I don’t want to render the project un-viewable and I drag whatever clips were in the trash BACK into my Clips Pane. Usually they are clips that were previously arranged and seem to be in my Clips Viewer with transitions in place and effects and everything! So they are in the trash AND in the viewer?? I don’t get it! After I rescue these “stray files” and click “save project” again the problem seems to be solved. I’m confused and I don’t trust my solution. Please tell me what I’m doing wrong and how I can avoid this in the future. Thanks!

Where You store Your iMovie project icon isn't importand unless You got an
external hard disk which is DOS/UNIX formatted and the icon is store here or
on it's "desktop". Desktop is a strange place to store things on IF one has
several other disks + USB-memories etc.
Running: Repair Permissions is not something one does when the Mac collapses
but every time one installs new softwares.
first: a Repair Permissons run before installing
then: install eg iLife
finish with: a Repair Permissons run
This is to keep the Mac up and running. A habit several of us in this forum has
adopted.
First localize - iMovie pref files.
iMovie
-->/Users/YourName**/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iMovie.plist
and
-->/Users/YourName**/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iMovie3.plist
If this is hard - try to <cmd-F> and search for ".plist" and You find them
in the search list.
If still stray files. Run the repair programs.

Have you tried trashing your Final Cut Pro preferences? It is usually the first step when FCP begins to act in unexpected ways.
Download Preference Manager (free) from Digital Rebellion

and use it to trash your preferences - they will be set to default the next time you open FCP.
If that does not remedy the problem, do you have any still images in your timeline that are not RGB, or are greater than 4000 pixels in the widest dimension?
Is your source material in an FCP7 edit friendly codec?

I would like to open this file read,write and update it with the RandomAccessFile api, but I can't seem to get write permissions. I have granted 777 permissions on the file.
Is this a Tomcat file permission issue or something?

I want to use something like java.io.RandomAccessFile("somepath", "rw");
I should be able to access the filesystem somehow? The only way I could find the file was using the URL. Whenever I used a relative or absolute path, I could not access the file.
How do I know what the filesystem path is on an application server (Tomcat 4.1) from a Jsp 1.4?

I'd be only too happy to upgrade, but my end users are dependent on Java Initiator to load specific software interface to access Oracle database. that functionality is disabled in FF 3.6 and later...
We aren't the hosts of the database, and our(my) pleas to the admins who host the third party front end to upgrade the JRE on the server are met with, "we're not going to reverse engineer their system..."

I didn't say the price was necessarily a drawback; just thought I'd throw my two cents in if the OP didn't want to purchase more software (as he/she alluded to in the first post). Even if it's a small cost (in your opinion), the OP said they didn't want to spend any more money. I didn't think about buying it on ebay; but that's a good idea. Just keep in mind that the Parallels free phone support is only good for the first few months after purchasing a new copy, so if you're buying a used copy, you won't get free phone tech support. I think they have per-incident support once the free period is over, though. And they probably have forums you can use to troubleshoot any issues.
Parallels can also cause a slow/laggy OS, which could be seen as a drawback. Of course, you could always purchase more RAM if the computer does lag, but there's another cost. I'm sure it doesn't happen to everyone, but it can happen, that I've seen. Especially if the computer you install it on is an older one that barely meets the Lion system requirements to begin with.
I agree with you; I purchase hardware and software for the future. If my new iMac won't run software from 2004-2008, I guess I'm upgrading. I understand when people don't want to upgrade, but after so many years, it's not really a choice.
I prefer the dual-boot method; it's cleaner (in my experience) than a virtual machine software program, and causes fewer issues with the main OS installation. It's really just preference, though. The OP can try both ways and decide which is preferable for him/her.
What I posted was (as I said in my first post) just my suggestion. I wasn't trying to override what you said about Parallels being the answer; just adding a new answer that I didn't yet see in this thread, in case the OP wanted an alternative. Maybe I mis-read the defensive attitude in your post, and if so, I apologize. But you seemed to be defending something that I wasn't truly even attacking to begin with. I feel that the best choices are the most informed ones, and with more options, the OP can find the best answer for him/her.

Why is AE getting error writing a file after finishing a render?

I have been trying to create an MPEG4 file from a comp. It renders successfully - at least, it does not display any render errors - but then gets an error when writing the file. It creates a file, but the file cannot be opened by Quicktime, nor Premiere Pro.

Download ClamXav, update the virus signatures, and do a full disk scan.
While there is always active, opinionated discussion on whether a mac needs an anitvirus or not, if you download files and send them to your windows friends often, running an antivirus program will help ensure you not passing along windows virus that don't affects macs. ClamXav is the one program that most agree is the only antivirus program that should be used, if you're inclined to use one. I've used it for years with no issues.

BC does not support more than one HFS+ volume.

I am getting this message when I attempt to save my numbers documents.

When I try to move a document to iCloud the "Move" button is greyed out.
This issue began when Quickbooks for MAC 2014 had to repair a corrupted file.

Getting Warning about Redirection url

I am not sure if this is your situation or not, but hopefully it could be helpful for you.
It is not supported for a remote pageflow portlet (WSRP producer) to redirect from its pageflow begin or refresh action. Because of this limitation, WebLogic Portal logs a warning when any portlet's pageflow attempts to redirect from either of these two actions.
It is legal to redirect from these actions if the portlet is not a WSRP producer. If this is the case, Oracle has added a utility method that can be called prior to the redirect which can suppress these warning messages:
- Class: com.bea.netuix.servlets.controls.content.PageflowLoggingHelper
- Method: public static void dontLogRedirectWarning(HttpServletRequest req)
Calling this method from the pageflow's begin or refresh action prior to the redirect will suppress the Netuix redirect warnings.

If you log into ExportPDF with this same Adobe ID, you should see that your service has unlimited conversions.
(The error you describe usually occurs when you log into the service with an Adobe ID which is different than the Adobe ID you used to purchase the subscription.)
