Why do i have 50 mb of "other" in my ipod???

its been changing again and again and it takes up room amking it very inconvinient for me. also, how come on the bar at "my ipod" on itunes it says freespace:183.7 mb but in my ipod at -about- it says freespace: 2.3 gb.
i dont really mind about the freespae thing
but
can someone help me on the "other" stuff taking up my space?
whats the other stuf?????

Other can be Album Artwork, Notes, Contacts, Firmware etc. or files that are on there if you are using the iPod as a removable storage device. If you feel that Other is being incorrectly reported then try restoring your iPod. Restoring will erase the iPod's hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions to name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7

Hi: I had the same issue. I believe mine was due to the fact that I always installed software updates over wifi. I believe doing so did not remove the old software from my phone, which then took up space in Other. Here's why I think this.
Yesterday, I had 6.2 GB of Other (on my 16GB iPhone). Got the alert that a software update was available, but didn't have enough free space on my phone to update it over wifi. I plugged my phone into my Mac today and ran the update on iTunes and the Other went down to 2.1 GB. Note, when I previously updated software over wifi, it took about 3 minutes, today when I updated it by actually plugging into iTunes on my Mac, it took about 15 minutes. It cleared everything off my phone and reinstalled it.
I'm not sure if this is the only reason for the Other storage to be high, but if you update over wifi, it could be. Note: if you're not due for an update, you may want to try resetting your phone and doing a restore from iTunes. Be sure to back up your phone before doing this!

Why should I have to give up other apps. for a new Firefox Upgrade?

Today (Fri; 6/24/11) I got a pop-up informing me of a newer version of Mozilla Firefox. I have been using it for years and LOVE the browser; BUT.... AFTER it was installed, it tells me that DAP apps; download accel; video accel; DAP downloads; and about 10 or 12 other apps WON'T WORK with the new Firefox upgrade.. GEE, THAT'S NICE! WHY didn't you tell me that BEFORE I clicked the upgrade. That's the POLITE and PROPER way to do it. BESIDES THAT, I got an (an I think, PHONY) "looking for compatible apps installer" that ran & ran & ran & ran & ran & ran & ran AND APPEARED TO BE INSTALL-ING NOTHING AT ALL. It appears I may HAVE to UNINSTALL the upgrade and roll-back my browser because I REFUSE TO NOT USE THE APPS I WANT TO USE. LET'S GET IT TOGETHER, FIREFOX... Do you recall what version you were using before the update? Due to security vulnerabilities, rolling back to Firefox 4.0.1 is not recommended.
If Firefox disabled some add-ons (especially extensions), it likely is because they include a list of compatible Firefox versions and haven't yet been updated for Firefox 5. If they worked on Firefox 4, there is a very good chance they will work on Firefox 5.
You can force Firefox to ''ignore'' add-on version restrictions by (what else) installing an add-on. Then you can test whether the add-ons important to you actually work in Firefox 5.

I just restored my iPod touch 5. It was having problems syncing doubles of all my music. I restored my iPod and re synced all my music. All my music synced properly but now I have over 11 GB of "other" storage. How do i get rid of the other storage. I feel like it might be backed up data.

Why do I have 2 gb of other on my iphone

Ever since ios7 I have a huge amount of "other" on my iphone. It is over 2 GB. I deleted my browsing history in Safari and I have cleared out most of my emails since now they all reside on my phone (instead of just 50 as it was previously). What is this 2GB and how can I get it to go away?

"Other" data is real data that you put on your phone by using the built in apps. It is not music, not videos, not pictures and not App Store app data. It is "OTHER" meaning everything that does not fall into these categories. Such as:
email messages and attachments
Reminders
Calendar entries
Contacts
Text messages
MMS messages and attachments
Genius data
Music cover art
Operating system settings
Safari cache
bookmarks
Game Center status
Music catalog
Probably a few I've missed. You will find posts from people who said they recovered over 3 GB of space by just deleting old text messages.
If you want Other to be smaller you will have to keep less data on your phone; delete old MMS and texts, delete old email (especially from the "deleted" folder), clear the cache, eliminate cover art.

Why do I have 2.5GB of 'Other' ???

Last week my 16GB nano went goofy. I use WinAMP as an interface. When I tried to eject it it said the device was being used by another process. I disconnected it and everything was gone. I followed the troubleshooting instructions and eventually had to update the software to 1.0.4 PC. Anyway, all the music was lost so I reloaded a bunch.
When I go to 'About', I see 7.5 GB used - 4.9GB Music and 2.5GB Other. What else is on there ??? I can't see what it is by using WinAMP or iTunes. How do I get rid of it ???

Let me answer my own question ...
Apparently restoring the iPod is the only way to get rid of that mystery 2.5GB of unknown stuff - so that's what I did. Oh Boy - I get to reload my nano with music yet again.

An "other" that large usually indicates that the "other" included corrupted files. Usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

Why do I have duplicate App Icons on my new iPod Touch?

Just got the new 5th gen iPod Touch yesterday and already LOVE it--just couldn't be happier, except for one thing:
Installed all of my apps last night, and for some reason there are duplicate icons for three of them--GetGlue, Google+, Google Voice, and YouTube.
They are in my "Social" folder on my home screen, and they work just fine. But there's a second set of those four that say "Installing" under each one; I've moved the duplicates to another folder on the second page of my home screen to hide them, but they are really bothering me--I don't want any clutter or issues on my new device.
I cannot delete these duplicate icons, when I tap and hold to enter edit mode, they do NOT have the little "x" in the corner to tap for deletion.
Any ideas? I spent forever getting my new iPod Touch set up last night, downloading all my music, etc. I really don't want to have to start from scratch again on day two.

Try restarting your iPod or turning it off and switching in on again. It worked for me.

Why do i have to download a program for my IPod Nano?

I purchased a IPod nano today and was very disappointed to find out I cannot just plug in the cord to the usb and drag and drop my music from any of my computers. I have to go online and download a file that take 3 hours and put it on every computer that I want to transfer music from. This doesn't sound right. I waited 40 minutes for tech support on the phone and no one ever came to the line. This is terrible. Does anyone have any suggestions?

It is hard to download iTunes if you only have a dialup internet connection. Do you know anyone with a broadband connection that would be willing to download this program for you?
I helped my daughter's friend do this--she gave up trying to download iTunes after 90 minutes.
If your friend can download the program from the Apple Website (not inside itunes), a CD can be burned containing the installation files.
Have your friend save the installation file to the computer desktop and then burn a data CD for you.

All ipod files have been converted to "other" how do i fix w/out restoring

all of my music and video, and other files in general have been converted to "other" when my ipod was unfortunately ripped from my computer and it now says i have 0 music,0 playlists, and 0 videos. everything is listed as "other" and I cannot reach anything else. my real problem is that I don't want to Restore my Ipod. Restoring my ipod is my absolute last choice. Have a look at these instructions for recovering music from your iPod.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it relies on the iPod database being accessible.
It may well be that that database is corrupt (hence all the music being unable to be read by the iPod and showing as other), and in that case a restore is your only option.

I'm not clear as to what you mean by that. Surely if you want everything "perfectly organized" then auto syncing your iPod to your iTunes library is the way to go since that would give you a mirror image of your iTunes on your iPod.
By the sound of it you don't have all these music and videos etc in your iTunes library (or a back up anyplace else). Now you can see why that's a bad idea.
If you had a back up, you could simply restore the iPod and reload the content.

it's also likely that you used two different apple IDs to purchase apps. if that's the case then you simply have to log out of your app store, and log into the other account to update the apps.
from experience it's not possible to syncronise purchased content from two different accounts. but you can always give Apple a call.

Unless I am mistaken, iTunes Switzerland is far from Swiss and does not encourage its people to watch films in the local languages of its country (at least French and Italian would be good too...). Can anyone help ? Do I have to move to Geneva to watch a non French film in French or Lugano to watch a non Italian film in Italian or simply buy a DVD to get round it?

Could you let me know why do I have multi languages versions when I transported the form to other sandbox system.
Let me breif my probem. On development system I have one form and since we do not want other languages versions to come into picture so I deleted all of the languages versions and kept only original version which is 'DE' in which form was created. When i see the version logs it also shows me only 'DE' version since I deleted rest of other versions.
On development system form works fine since we want language 'DE' to be called for any language and inside the form it takes care for all the languages.
But when I transported it to other sandbox system form is not working fine since when transported it is now available in all the languages and when testing is done for this form in sandbox system it does not work since for example when testing is done using 'HU' language form gets called in 'HU' language and it is available on sandbox system and as a result form does not work since in 'HU' language form is not correct, and also when versions are seen on sandbox it shows the form active or translate in all the languages.
Is there anything that needs to be done while transporting the form...I only want that on sandbox system only version DE should be available..like the way it is in development system.
