Why do I have to ask a question first to create a supprt forum account?

I only asked this question for the purpose of creating an account so I could post a reply to another question I saw that I thought I had some helpful information about. I also saw another question asked about why there is no direct signup link for creating an account. I realize most people coming here are asking a question, but what if you're just trying to help someone else? To force us through these 4 extra steps on us to create an account because of a faulty assumption is a waste of time, and frankly somewhat insulting. How hard can it be to add a simple link to take people to a signup page? That's what most other websites do.

    Well, in order to reply, you are technically going to become a volunteer. There is a volunteer sign up link at the bottom of the main support pages. Therefore, you don't have to ask a question. You probably just missed the link.

    You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.
    They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • Why does the App store ask if I want to create three security questions when, in fact, I am required to create three security questions to use the App store?

    This is sooooo lame. I'm given the choice of "Not Now" when asked if I want to create three security questions, but clicking "not now" logs me out rather than letting me download the app I came for. Is this sort of poor design typical for Apple?

    Then why doesn't Apple simply say:
    "To download the app you must first create three security questions and answers. Do you wish to create the questions now so that you may then download the app?"
    As written, the text implies that I could download the app without creating the questions first. Good design calls for a clear and direct statement that an act is mandatory when it is mandatory.

    why are these security questions asked before one can get into their own ipad2:
    1. FAVORITE Make of a car
    2. Where were you on 2000?
    3. Favorite childhood name?
    These are three questions that are very hard to remember, especially when they don't work half of the time when you actually try to answer them.
    Can't you make the security questions your "own" questions, instead of going to a apple support document to where they are posted as part of the whole security process? The answers to these security questions arent the answers I tried or would remember anyway.
    Then you get locked out of the whole password process for a day before you can get in to ask you the same questions all over again? Dumb.Really dumb!!!!

    i have tried, what i thought was answering my security questions (according to itunes security questions) and filled the answers as best as i could, but now i can't even get past my birthdate either. I know what my birthdate is, but apparently it doesnt recognize me there either. i dont know what i can do to help me get past my birthdate and on to normal security questions. i have tried to answer these questions and after two or three times, have now been locked out again, for another 8 hours! !!!!
    This is  very unacceptable to me. Is there anyone out there that has had this same problem and has figured out what to do to get around this 8 hour denial time limit and on to logging onto my own ipad2.

    I agree with you. it's asinine that we can't choose our own questions. For exaple who is going to remember the answer to "Where were you on January 1, 2000?"
    I recommend that you comtact iTunes Support. Go to https://expresslane.apple.com and follow through with iTunes>iTunes Store>Account Management and have an iTunes Advisor contact you.
