Why do I have to buy Transformers II ?

... and other movies
I've never liked that online video rentals are 24 hours when the old brick-n-mortar gave me a week or two. I would rent more if I was given even a few days — like through the weekend, 'ya know?
The price of renting online bugs too. Why should it be more than it was at a brick-n-mortar?
But OK. I adapted. Grouchy but adapted.
Now here's all the videos I want to rent that can only be purchased. ... Why can't I filter on that? Why do I have to wait until I (using that lovely keyboard that comes with AppleTV, ugh) left, left, down. left, ok, up, up, right, right, right. ... etc. ... then finally get to the video description to find it's not even for rent!? Why? I thought things were supposed to be simple.
And finally. Why do I have to purchase the videos anyway? What happened to renting?
(I'm now watching an old free movie on another streaming service instead of making a purchase or rent from Apple. Happens more and more frequently. Sorry folks.)

Thanks vazandrew,
Beyond their control? It's an agreement. It's a choice. Least they could do is let us filter searches so we don't get led into impulse-buy situations. But maybe our impulses are more to their advantange than our satisfaction. (cough cough) Nearly every movie my kids want to watch ends up in this same bucket. Transformers II actually is much less $$ than most. But I don't want to own it.
Thanks for the pointer to the remote app though! :-)
I've always liked the AppleTV screensaver showing all my photos. There was a time I'd pay $100 for a photo-frame, so it's still a good thing. ... Just never expected a screensaver to be a killer app.
More seriously, I really think Apple, and the studios, would make more money from me if they let me rent digitally at a reasonable rate and for a few days at a stretch. Apple movies were getting more $$ from me before the purchase-only ones started showing up. I don't plan to adapt to purchasing like I did to 24 hour rentals.
Of course. I'm not just complaining about Apple here. In fact, I've been a fan of Apple for decades.

why do we have to buy mountain lion when we bought lion? Others who didn't purchase lion don't have to pay for it to move to mountain lion.

As far as I know the only people not having to pay for Mountain Lion are the ones that have purchased a apple computer after the 4th of june or something. These people get a free upgrade. All others will have to pay for a copy of Mountian Lion.
Do you maybe have a source, which states that others don't have to pay for it, where people that have bought Lion do have to pay?
    With kind regards,

  • HT204370 why did i have to buy the movie again if i allready bought it?

why did i have to buy the movie again if i allready bought it? i want my money back

You can't get a new DVD, which is what RG said. VUDU, the download service Walmart resells, is a different subject and not what RG was referring to.
But what some other company can allow is irrelevent to the issue. From the iTunes Store, movies can be re-downloaded only in the US, and then only from those movie studios that have allowed it. This is not by Apple's choice; it's completely the choice of the movie studios. If your movie is not available under the Purchased section of your iTunes Store account, then redownloading is available only if you purchase the movie again.

  • Why did i have to buy iPhoto when i realised my daughters macbook had it preinstalled

why did i have to pay for iphoto when my daughters identical macbook came with it pre-installed??

Apple is not here. Apple does not answer questions here.
There are only users here who have no idea the answer to your question whith so little information. What year did you buy your Mac and your daughter's Mac. What MacBook model's are they both? From whom did you buy them, directly from Apple or a 3rd party vender? The more details the better to offer ideas.

  • WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO BUY A NEW COMPUTER TO RUN FIREFOX,WHEN I HAVE OS 10.5?

It's ridiculous that I should have to buy a new computer to run Firefox, just because I have OS 10.5. You must think people are made of money.

First off you should update to Firefox 16.0.2, which is the latest version of Firefox that will run on your PC. It isn't the most modern, but it's faster and more secure that 3.5.
We dropped support for Mac 10.5 just like we drop support for other old operating systems. The userbase on it is decreasing (due to users upgrading) and continuing to support it is hold back innovation for more modern Operating Systems.
As for why it is considered old, blame Apple. They released 10.5 in 2007 and stopped supporting it in 2009. Because you have an Intel Processor you can probably upgrade to Mac 10.6, which should be something like $20USD.

  • Why do I have to buy Imovie after update (Marvericks)?

Hey guys! I have a macbook pro retina, and since I bought the macbook I had the opportunity to get Imovie for free from App store, but when I recently updated my Mac to Marvericks, I now have to buy Imovie. Am I the only one having this problem? Please Help!

The free upgrade for iLife is for the most recent version of iLife prior to the Mavericks version. If you have an older version, then I believe that it is a paid upgrade.

  • Why would I have to buy a new computer to sync my new iPhone 4?

If I had a PC, I probably wouldn't have this problem. First of all, I have a Mac 466MHz PowerPC G4 that runs OS 10.4.11 (Tiger). It works just fine. I cannot upgrade to (Leopard), because my MHz is not over 600MHz or something. I cannot upgrade to (Snow Leopard) because my computer does not have an Intel processor in my computer. I bought a "PHONE", just a phone. No other phone would be giving me this problem. I shouldn't have to buy a new computer just to sync my phone to the computer to get all my music. I am probably going to a have to return my phone, because what's the point? I don't have another computer to export my iTunes library to. Does anyone else have this problem? HELP!

The PowerPC 466MHz G4 was discontinued on the 18th July 2001, according to some light research on the inter web, that's over 9 years ago, while I understand your frustration, you must have come up against some other issues with new technology not being compatible or useable with your current system, USB 2.0, PCIe, DDR, DDR2 or DDR3 RAM, SATA hard drives to name but a few.
I'm not having a dig here, but as others have said, the requirements for using the iPhone have been readily available for each release of the iPhone. If you chose not to check those prior to purchasing the iPhone, that is your responsibility, not Apple's.
Personally, I would be writing a thread praising Apple for making a machine over 9 years ago which is still running well for you today, instead of having a go about current technology not being compatible with what can only be described, from a technological standpoint, as a fossil.
If you had a PC, especially of the same age, it would probably sitting there not working at all. Hardware in PCs is generally outdated faster than on Macs.
As for "if you bought a phone, just a phone" you wouldn't be able to sync that to any device. Just a phone plugs into a wall mounted telephone socket. As for syncing non Apple Mobile phones with Mac OS X, the reason I bought the original iPhone and every iPhone upgrade since, is because it was the first mobile phone that could sync to a Mac efficiently and accurately.
If you think you'll be better off with a PC and just a phone, enjoy your shopping experience, oh and remember to pick up some Anti-virus software while you're there, you'll definitely need it. (You'll need iLife replacement programs too while you're at it. Oh yeah and PC variants of any third party software you currently use on your Mac).

  • Why do you have to buy the same app on all devices?

If you have multiple apple products like iphone, ipad, mac..ect. I understand the different versions of the OS but still, I would think they'd have a bundle price or something. I've had to rebuy the same apps over and over. Is there any way around this?

Some apps are universal, most are not.
As provided, these are entirely different platforms.
Just as you would have to buy a movie twice of you wanted to watch it on a dvd player and a vcr.
You would have to buy the same video game twice if you wanted to play on a Wii and a playstation.

    1. Yes.
    2. No.
    3. Log into the Mac App Store with the Apple ID you used to purchase it and download it again, or if you still have the installer application, move it to the iMac.

  • HT2376 Why do we have to buy a new key every year?  Why can't we just buy a key for three to 5 years at a time?

Just inquiring as I just want to know why can't we buy QuickTime Pro registery keys for three to five years in one purchase?
How are you being forced to purchase a ney key every year? Keys should only need to be re-purchased after a major upgrade—e.g., the change from QT 6 to QT 7 on a Mac. Since QT 7 was released in 2005 for both the Mac and Windows platforms, your QT 7 key should have been valid for a max of about 8 years thus far. The only problem I know of is the fact that Apple no longer maintains a continuous history of QT 7 key purchases which has been forcing users who do not maintain a copy of their key and user ID on hand for things like drive/system failures and/or accidental deletions to purchase a replacement rather than simply re-keying their QT 7 app with their old key. I keep all of my old keys stored on thee separate USB drives, two RAID units, and one external hard drive in case I lose any or all of my startup volumes.

  • Why do I have to buy? Why can't I just rent?

I love my Apple TV, but I keep being disappointed with the movie selection on iTunes. Often my friends will tell me about a great movie they have seen. I go to look for it in iTunes, only to find out that it is not available.
Even more disappointing, though is the fact that some movies, even older ones, are available only to buy, not to rent on iTunes, so if I want to watch - say the the year 2000 movie "Snatch" I have to shell out over $10, rather then $3, a waste of money for me as I hardly ever watch a movie more than once. I don't mind paying a little extra for the convenience of being able to buy instantly from my couch, but 2-3 times the cost is ridiculous.
Does anyone know why Apple does this?

That URL routes to the US Apple web site, so it's not representative of what may be true in Italy or another part of the world and cannot be used as any indication of what products or services would be available in your country, any more than I could look at ads in Italy and presume that they'd apply to me in my country. You need to look at the Italian Apple web site if you want accurate information:

  • Why did I have to buy pages again?

I have owned pages since it first came out. Yet the app store made me buy it again to get the 5.0 version. Is that normal? Is that what is happening to everybody?

Go to the iTunes Store, log into your account, and click the Purchases link under the Quick Links. From there you should be able to re-download that track. For more information, see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
Or just sync your iPhone or iPod to iTunes on your computer.

  • Why do I have to buy again an app previously bought from my first iTouch?

My iTouch was replaced by an authorized seller of Apple because it has factory defects. Before I handed it to the store, I backed up my purchased apps. When I got a new iTouch and transferred all the apps to my new iTouch, I checked this app [Manga Storm] that I previously bought and saw that I have to unlock it [buy the full version] in order to have unlimited access to it.
Please help me I don't know what to do. I can't risk spending another $2.99 to pay for this app because it's expensive [for me] if you'll covert its currency in our country.
    Thank you in advance.

Did you backup your iPod before the getting the replacment iPod? And did you restore the replacement from that backup?  If  you did then all should be well. Also see:

  • Why did I have to buy NBA League Pass TWICE for it to work?

League Pass Choice wouldn't work at all (2014) so out $150 plus tax. Had to buy the $200 Premium package. Now, after $350, finally get the games this year at my home in Costa Rica. Awfully expensive and absolutely NO service from NEULION franchisee down here. ---- NONE!

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
If that doesn't work Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.
