Why do I have to DL an app twice?

I bought an app about the 50th anniversary of JFK's assassination from NBC and it's on the iPad and it's working just fine. However, when I plug the iPad into the computer to sync various things, it wants to download that app again. Only problem is that it's about 950MB, and for some reason it will take nearly two hours to DL.

Maybe that's the problem. It's been only 47 years! Perhaps the download delay is there to force you to wait until the 50th anniversary?

  • Why do I have to pay for apps twice?

So I had many apps on my phone and then the 3Gs iphone wouldn't connect to anything so I had to get another one (my third in a year) when the phone was reset they droped the @email address off my screen name and now the phone wount sync to my itunes. Its stupid, same email address and password but now it thinks it a different account. So far its cost mt $8.00 bucks and I refuse to give apple any more money.

You need to fix your account if the screen name has changed. Once your information matches the original info, you won't have to pay to redownload apps.

  • TS1702 why, after i have paid for an app, is it "no longer avaiable"

why, after i have paid for an app, is it "no longer avaiable"... I went to sync my phone and the app is no longer there. When trying to add it back to my phone through sync it says "app is no longer available"

Because it was removed from the app store by the developer.
Didn't you have a copy of it in the iTunes library on your computer?

  • Why do I have to view foreign apps?

Is there a way to modify my Apple profile so I don't have to view foreign apps that are not apps that I would pick to download?  If I can only read English
, why do I need to scroll through dozens of other languages before locating the correct app in my language?

I know of no way to modify your profile to exclude "foreign" apps but I have a theory on this and I am simply guessing, but I would imagine that the foreign apps are included since they might be interest to bilingual people, recent immigrants to the U.S, those who want to stay in touch with cultural traditions and for those of us who want to broaden our horizons.
This is the United States of America and we used to be know as the "Great Melting Pot" where people of all races, creeds, ethnicity, national origin, and religions came to settle and make a new life for themselves in the "land paved with golden streets". You may consider my explanation to be a bit over the top, but these same basic principles still apply today in the grand ole USA and I think that Apple in trying to appeal to the masses has included these apps to accommodate us all.
It boils down to having a broad range of choices and Apple has provided them in abundance in the App Store in order to appeal to the widest variety of people and their cultures.

  • Why do i have to store each contact twice?

why do i have to store each contact on my iphone twice, once with the country code so that his name will display when i recieve messages from him and another time without the country code so that his name will display when i receive calls from him?
is it something with the software or with my service provider or maybe there is something i should activate in my settings?

Those may be a hidden file under Lion which is why you cannot find it.
Should be located at: ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
I do not know why you were "forced" to download it twice unless you opted for a custom download location the first time. Doesn't happen when I do it. I'm not sure what email you are referring to.
Good luck to you, maybe someone else will come along and be more helpful to you.

  • Why do I have to go to app store to open new version of Numbers on my computer?

Why can I only open the new version of numbers through the app store?

    Hi Arnie.carol,
If I am understanding you correctly, it sounds like you may be trying to open the new version of Numbers, which is installed on your computer, but when you attempt to open it you only see the old version opening. If this is the case, it can be explained by the information in the following article about updating iWork:
About the new iWork for Mac: Features and compatibility - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT6049
In the meanwhile, you can continue to use these features by accessing the previous versions of the iWork applications which remain installed on your Mac. The previous versions can be found in Applications > iWork ’09.
You can double check this by utilizing a right-click on the Numbers icon in your dock, and choosing “Show in Finder,” which should take you to the application:
OS X Mavericks: Shortcuts for the Dock
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13718
See an item in the Finder
Command (⌘)-click the item’s icon, or Control-click the icon, then choose Options > Show in Finder.
From there, you can check the version number to see if it matches the updated version number in the App Store. Next, if you wish to always open the new version of Numbers by clicking on the icon in the Dock, open the application from the App Store as you have been doing, then right-click on the active Numbers application (the one that will have a light below it), and choose to add the application to the Dock by choosing “Keep in Dock”:
Add an open app to the Dock
Control-click the app’s icon, then choose Options > Keep in Dock.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!
    Cheers,
    Braden

  • Why do I have to buy an application twice? Once before the App store and now after the App store has the same application - Aperture

I have Aperture on my MacPro that was purchased before the App store was born. IT has been updated to the current version now. I also put it on my MacBookPro but it won't accept the same license - says it is invalid license. When I go to the App store, it says I can downlowd it for another $79.99, but if I try to do that, it says I already have Aperture on my laptop. So, I am stuck in a catch 22.

Nevermind. After reading other similar posts I think I figured it out. I'll have to delete my version of Aperture on my laptop and then reinstall from the App store - although I think I will still have to purchase again.

  • Why to I have to repeatedly update apps with old updates I've already updated?

I keep having to do updates on apps.  I understand new updates, but I keep seeing updates that are even over a year old that I have already updated several times before.  This is getting kind of old!
    Am I doing something wrong?

  • HT4463 Do I have to purchase Pages app twice?

If I purchase the Pages app on my iPhone, why can it not transfer unto my desktop Apple computer?

I actually love the TextEdit. Can't complain as it's free. I still use it on a daily bases (despite I have a choice to use Pages). It does everything for me in my formatting, including the additional use of images, etc. Always, some new little trick I come across with this app.
Most people aren't aware of how much use you can fully get out of this app, but yes, it's not going to support all the bells & whistles that Pages comes with.

  • Why do I have to charge my iPhone twice a day?

    Hi guys,
I have a 9 month old iPhone that I barely use - except for the checking the internet briefly every hour or so and I end up having to charge it to 90% twice a day.
I always recharge when the battery hits 20% and I follow all the basic battery saving tips such as bluetooth, location,WIFI off etc. I generally leave the 3G on all day and I prob send about 4 or 5 texts, rarely calls.
Does anybody know what could be causing such poor battery performance?
    Thanks in advance.
PS - It's a 4S running iOS6. I'm hoping I don't have to replace the battery after only 9 months? I have fully discharged/charge cycled once a month also. Can anyone advise if they have had a faulty battery if the warranty covered a replacement?
    Cheers

Try restoring as new, i.e. without your backup.

  • HT2534 Why do I have to sign in to download a free app

Some apps that are free want me to sign to apple account to download.  Want me to verify my credit Cade info.  If app is free why do I have to sign in

Every app that is downloaded from the App store is authenticated or associated to the respective Apple ID. Looks like your Apple ID needs to be verified by credit card info.
You can try creating a free Apple ID. A free Apple ID when created will prompt for sign in but will not insist in getting the credit card info.

  • HT3702 Why do I have pending charges on my bank account for free games

I have pending charges on my bank account for free games ? Whys that?

Have you made in-app purchases in the games ? Though the games may be free to download some then allow in-app purchases to unlock extra features or levels etc.
And/or did you add or change your credit card details on your iTunes account ? If you have then each time that you do so a small temporary store holding charge may be applied to check that the card details are correct and valid and that it's registered to exactly the same name and address as on your iTunes account - read the page that you posted from for more info.

You must contact iTunes support to get the problem resolved.
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
If there is a problem with your account or payment info, you cannot
download anything (including free apps or updates) until the matter
    is resolved.
In countries where the iTunes Store only sells apps, the accepted payment methods are Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. Other payment types such as gift cards, store credit, monthly allowances, ClickandBuy, and PayPal are not accepted. Depending on your App Store country, prices may be listed in your local currency, US Dollars, or Euros.    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5552
