Why do I have to download songs/albums onto my iphone when I have icloud and purchased the songs from itunes? I thought the purpose of purchasing from itunes when you have icloud is that you don't have to download each song/album that you want to hear. I get like 5-10 songs from the last two albums i have downloaded, but not the entire album.
Are you talking about iTunes Match? If so, you don't have to download entire albums, all you have to do is play the songs you want to hear.
If you're asking why you have to download the music at all rather than just playing it from iCloud, the music has to be stored locally on your device, either in permanent or cache memory, in order for your device to play it.

Recently rented a film and bought an album on iTunes. The items appear in my purchased items and in my download items however they have a download error tap to retry. When I retry I box appears quoting name of item and unable to download at this time. What do I need to check? I have had no problems downloading before and my Internet signal is strong. Help please!!
For the rental:
Select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History on your computer.
For the music:
Try deleting the problematic tune (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

thats tough man, yeah exchanging it is the best option. But why do people always leave a message saying" i'll probably just by an ipod" and it's usually followed by, "even though i don't like apple or ipod" . I mean fine, if u feel like giving up on the zen micro thats fine, i personally don't care if you're going to buy an ipod. for god sakes ipod isn't even the next alternati've mp3 players, theres plenty. I downloaded a full cd album from iTunes it said it had been downloaded but when I listened to them it only played a small part of each song then it stopped. What do i do? I don't want to have to download them again. Thanks
Other people have been having similar problems with songs over a number of days, I assume that there has been a problem with Apple's servers.
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete tracks from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if they re-download in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find those songs and use the 'Report a Problem' link. -
I have 2 laptops and both have liberies,how can I transfer the music from my 1st account (laptop) into the newer one which I made a new account for.My Iclassic has music fro both liberies, but once I purchase a new song and try to sync, it into my iclassic it doesn't allow me todue to having both liberies.Can u plesae help

I have PS 6 and just purchased an iMac and am running OS 10.10.1 (Yosemite). When i try to Save or Save As a file I get the following message: Could not save as "Whatever.psd" because this file is locked, you do not have necessary access permissions, or another program is using the file. Use the Get Info command in the Finder to ensure the file is unlocked and you have permission to access the file. I just got a warning that the Itunes that I just downloaded (10.6) could impare or destablize my system- I have had Itunes on my computer before but when I plugged in my Ipod it told me I needed to uninstall Itunes and reinstall itunes all together. Now I don't know what to do. I have a Sony computer that runs on Windows XP and then I have an Ipad, Iphone, and Ipod that I sync everything with What do I do? Do I continue installing? And, if I don't install how will I ever get all my "gadgets" to work properly without being able to download Itunes 10.6? Need Help!!!! I'm not very tech savey...just a grandmother who loves her gadgets:)

Hi - in the app store, I've logged in with no problem, but when I go into my existing purchases and have INSTALL next to everything I've bought, and try to click on them it says;
"There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (100)".
I've tried restarting, clearing all caches, buying and downloading new apps (which works), and also buying and downloading more music from iTunes too (so I update all T&C's etc too, and update all payment info). I cannot install iTunes 10.5. I can download it, but when I go to install it says that a program cannot be run and it won't give the name of the program. I have the Windows Vista 64-bit system.
That would be my first guess. You might be trying to install the 32 bit version of the program.
Update the thread with more info on your apple software etc if its a 64 bit install you're trying to perform. -
When I import a CD to itunes, it splits the album in to multiple entries. I have changed the info on some but others just will not merge. Is there an easy way to do this and can I stop them from splitting in future? Thanks
Okay this is what fixed my problem. Some kind of error/glitch occured half-way through importing that third cd that prevented further imports from any other cd. Once I completely removed the half-imported cd album from my library I could further import cd's without any problems.

I want to upgrade the software (currently I have Mac OS X 10.6.4) but when the mac is downloading the new version i get an error message and is not possible get the most updated software: Mac OS X 10.6.8 or either the most recent itunes why?!?!?!
Then you either have a network problem or a hardware problem or a corrupted hard drive. You might try:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
You can also try downloading from another computer on a different network connection.
