Why do I have to go offline to get email from my Charter account?

Can someone explain to me why Apple Mail 5.2 (1257) will not retrieve email automatically on my Charter account on my Mac? The Mac retrieves my two Exchange accounts and GMail account with no problem. I have to go offline with the Charter account in order to get my new email. I access this Charter account via an imap setting on two iPhones (4 and 4S) as well as on an iPad and the iPad we use mainly for Pandora in the kitchen with no problem. They all pull it from the servier. It is my understanding that imap allows this by keeping the email on the server unless/until it is deleted by one of the devices. Can someone help me understand what setting I am missing with my Mac settings? Many thanks to you all.

Save As was removed in Lion, but it has returned in Mountain Lion. I don't understand why you should need to access the help menu even once let alone each time. Hold down the Option/alt key while clicking on the File menu & you will see Save As along with its keyboard shortcut. If, like me, you don't want to have to do a four-finger keyboard shortcut, you can change it in System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > Application Shortcuts.

At first I thought it might be because I was using simultaneously my old iPhone 4S so it somehow realized the emails where being pushed to another device and the it marked as read, this has nothing to do since I have deleted the email account from the iPhone 4S

I should say if u could try to keep this simple as I am by no means a computer wiz!. Having said that I have a Verizon account & friend's of mine have AOL but for some reason we can not send email to each other as it keeps coming back.
My question is why is this? I love Verizon but have never had this with any of the other providers I had. Is there something I need to turn off? & if so what & how?. I'm really lost as to why I can't send nor get email from AOL. If anyone could explain it but in a way I can understand it this would be great!.

Everytime when I get emails from my gmail account. I end up getting 2 emails one from the email app and one from gmail app. Also I have my wifi off and I can't get 4G LTE

Fix number one: turn one of the Gmail applications off. Then it will come to just one app.
Fix number two: You must turn on cellular data/LTE on your device to access your 4G LTE or turn off your WiFi to use cellular data.

Because someone's trying to mislead you into giving them your iTunes Store login information. Forward all such emails to [email protected] and then delete them.
If there's an actual problem with your iTunes Store account, you'll be told at the time you try to purchase or download something.

interesting that my gmail account does work perfectly.

this may or may not help - but give it a try. On a forum some were reporting that talk21 is now under the yahoo umbrella. below are the steps this use listed. (This was an android forum, but the email settings should be the same. In short it looks like their server names have changed. An existing account may have simply been forwarded - but if you are reinstalling, it may want a clean install to the right servers.) Pay particular attention to the server names and port settings. (this thread was started based on a discussion of Imap vs pop - you are already an Imap person - so ignore that part)

why settle for pop3, when IMAP works with talk21 and not only does mail get pushed out faster with IMAP, but when you click refresh it will be received faster than pop3. The other advantage is subfolders are also supported with IMAP but cant be seen with POP3. This mail feature works with my android eclair & hero phone and the settings are exactly the same for win mobiles also (not tested). The mail setting up roadmap is the same from what i can remember once in the mail feature for win mobi.
This is what you need to do to setup Talk21 email with IMAP.
Incoming server settings
IMAP server - imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port - 143
Security type - none
Outgoing Server settings
SMTP server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Port - 25
Security type - none Also important note - Enable 'require sign-in'
and enter your talk21 username and password The End...works a treat for me p.s. Its only taken me 3 years to work it out with win mobile and recently with android. Finally got it to work...hope this helps all the talk21 users out there. if there are any other similar posts out there with no answer...dont forget to mention my name when passing this post around.

1. What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
2. What version of the iOS are you running (Settings > About)?
3. Do you use MobileMe/ iCloud or another server based sync solution like Google or Yahoo?
4. Do other changes to synced information like Address Book content sync successfully back and forth?
Based on your description it sounds like you have a 1 way sync issue. Events sync fine between the iOS devices and fine from the computer to the iOS devices but not from the iOS devices to the computer.
Try:
Backup your computer and iOS devices before doing anything else:

Why can't I create a response to an email from the Viewer window?
When I select an email to respond to in the viewer window and click on the respond arrow that appears just under the header, a new response email opens for a split second then disappears.
I have to actually click on and open the email message in its own screen to be able to then click on the respond arrow and succeed in having Mail open a response email that I can edit - one that remains open.
This seems to be a bug that we need to have squashed.

ghost network to boot.. Go into your local Police Station, tell them your iPhone has been Stolen & give them All the info you have,, then claim on your house insurance.......If your "Find My iPhone" is On and you still cannot trace it...

The reason, I included the annotation that I'd upgraded my Itunes, (On my Computer) is B/C in many forums - the very first question, *HELPERS* ask, is. "Do you have the latest version of Itunes downloaded on your computer." I wanted to knock out any obvious replies.
Now- "DO YOU have any idea,"... how your UNHELPFUL remarks, do absolutely nothing but hurt others that might not have the EXPERIENCE you have? How do you expect people to know things without asking questions? Whew! RUDE!!

You can go to the Apple online store and purcahse a copy of Mountain Lion. This will give you a redemption code, which you can use to download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Unfortuantely, I'm not aware of any other way to legally purchase it. I have never seen Apple release Muontain Lion on DVD.
In terms of Apple Service, they just need the serial number of the machine to check the purcahse date. It is usually correct, to within a few weeks. A quick Google search should give you the correct number to dial.

I would delete the account and try to re-enter it. Also, you have to let your firm's IT department know that you want to sync work email on your personal devices before they actually work.
