Why do I have to have the News stand on my touch if I don't want it or use it?

I do not use the Newsstand but I can not remove it. Why does Apple not give me the choice of keeping or removing their new additions to my iPod?

You can't remove any of the built in applications, although there are some (not including Newsstand) that you can hide using Restrictions.  The best thing to do is to put Newstant on the last page (make a new last page) and "hide" it there.  If there are more apps you want to hide you can combine them into their own "UNUSED" folder.  Note that at least in 5.0 and 5.0.1 it was a struggle to get Newsstand into a folder.  Maybe it works right in 5.1.
